  1. High 5s and hats off to the Mrs.!
  2. And have the chefs in Teppenyaki cook up a big batch on top of their big 'ol griddle!
  3. Agreed. That is quite likely Steelhead. I live in Salmon, Idaho. Have fished for and caught Steelhead, and eaten some salmon that someone else caught. They are often as big as a salmon as well, especially after these fish have made the very long journey from the Pacific ocean up the Columbia, Snake and Salmon rivers to their native spawning grounds between Salmon and Stanley. A nice Steelhead filet can be very close to the same size a Salmon filet. And every bit as tasty. I love my fish! The wait staff on the ships we sail on probably have no idea what the difference is between a rainbow trout or a brook trout or a steelhead trout. It's a trout. 🙂 Thourghly enjoyed this 'live reveiw" !! Thank you!
  4. If you were in the Adventure Class seating they are. Goldstar Dome class seating a meal and a couple of drinks are included. I'm certain your memory is perfect! 🙂
  5. Yes. And you do want to book it through the Alaska Railroad website. The Goldstar class category is what I was referring to. In the Goldstar class, if you take the early morning departure, there is a nice breakfast served that is included in this price, as well as a couple of spirited breakfast beverages, mimosa or bloody mary, etc. if you like this sort of breakfast beverage. It's a great way to make the trip from Anchorage to Seward. Scenary is spectacular.
  6. We did the Jewel SB Seward to Vancouver in July of 2022. The sailaway in the evening from Seward is beautiful. And the inside passage part of the trip is absolutely stunning. My favorite excrusion was the White Pass rail in Skagway. Getting up close to Hubbard glacier is so impressive, I got lucky and got to see the glacier calve. Another good reason to do this trip on the smaller Jewel ship. The Gold Dome train ride from Anchorage to Seward is worth every penny. If you choose to go to Seward the day you sail, if by train, they will transfer your luggage to the ship for you. Super handy. The coast line of Alaska from a cruise ship is beyond impressive. Enjoy!
  7. I sailed on the Encore last winter. I too, always go for the angled balcony cabins. We were also on deck 11, room 11874, one of the angled that looks toward the front of the ship. We have had both the fwd facing cabins as well as the ones angled towards the back. We found both to be great. Sometimes it's nice to have that extra breeze when in the warm Caribbean sea, and didn't feel privacy was as issue. That said, as with many other things, much is based on ones personal preferences. Go have fun!
  8. We were on the Bliss 2 years ago, mid Dec. for a 7 day MR cruise. When we embarked on Dec 12, holiday decorations were not yet in place, by the next morning the ship had been transformed into a wonderful Christmas village! Trees, poinsettias and other decor in all public venues, Polar Express village on deck 6, etc. It was so fun, and beautifully done. Everywhere.
  9. Whatever the changes were that the CC tech people did no doubt impacted all of the Boards, and roll calls.
  10. So I just went to the find your Norwegian Roll Call option, at the top of the Norwegian Boards threads and comments page, scrolled down to the Jade, instead of going to the drop down to access the specific month of your criuse, click on the Norwegian Jade roll calls heading in bold and that option will give you all of the Jade roll calls. The one you need is there. Hopfully the CC powers that be will change this.
  11. I just tried this and it didn't make a difference. At least not for me. Thank you for the suggestion though. From the Norwegian Cruise Line specfic Boards page, if I go to the "find your roll call" option, click on that, then scroll down to the Jade, where it asks for the month, click on that, a drop down will all the months of the year, click on February, then it shows roll calls that have February in the title. There are 4 roll calls listed, one of which is for the cruise I reference, however it's the wrong one. The one that needs to be there has been deleted. Along with many others. If you know the exact title for the missing one you can enter that in the search field and you can see it along with all the others that have been deleted, but if you don't know the exact title......
  12. Zqvol, I don't think they have been merged. The one you have just attached is the real one. The thread title is a bit different than the other one. The thread title of the other one is "NCL Jade Southern Caribbean Feb 25th- March 9, 2024". What I am seeing is when you do a search from the main Boards page for NCL and then click on the Jade, it will bring up current future and past sailing roll calls. When you do your search from the NCL only threads page and go to their roll calls section, scroll down to the Jade and narrow your search to just the month of February, there are now only 4 items found. The roll call that has all the activity and such is no longer there and is not merged with the thread from cottinom1. Thanks for your reply and help.
  13. For those who are on the Jade 14 day cruise, Feb. 25th 2024, our roll call thread is gone. There used to be two of them, the one that is still showing is one that was created in error by a fellow CC participant, they didn't see that there was already one started. Now they would like to join in the one that has all the Meet n Greet, sailaway, slot pull, cabin crawl, pub crawl, etc. schedules and spread sheets in place, but that roll call has been deleted. What happened?! Thanks for any help out there.
  14. Called my PCC yesterday and booked the Prima out of Galveston for the Jan 31, 14 day sailing. Used my CruiseFirst cert that had been credited back to my account as well as the 10% off credit that we received from NCL due to cancelling the Escape cruise. 🙂
  15. Also saw this. We were booked on the Escape Jan 31, 25 sailing. Looks like the Prima also sails on Jan 31, 2025 for a 14 day. Itinerary is different, but price is about the same, and with the 10% discount from the cancelled sailing makes this one pretty nice. A little skeptical of Prima due to some of the reviews. Kinda waiting to see where NCL puts the Escape. Rumor has it we may see her in NYC.
  16. I don't know the why or wheres regarding how it is decided which big sporting events will be broadcast. Perhaps it depends on the ship or itinerary. We were aboard the Bliss, Feb 2022 for a Miami to LA, Panama Canal cruise. The crew and staff aboard the Bliss on that occasion, provided a grand Super Bowl Sunday for the passengers. The game was broadcast in numerous locations. They had the entire area around the pool set up for folks to be able to sit on chairs and watch the game on the big outdoor screen there, as well as providing special snacks for all to enjoy. The game was also on a big screen in the Bliss Theater, the Atrium, the Brew House as well as the staterooms tvs. It was great!
  17. Be interesting to see what happens. I had the Jan 31 to Feb 14 trip booked on the Escape. Was looking forward to sailing out of Galvaston.
  18. I hope so, I too, purchased the CruiseFirst when I booked this Escape cruise. Be interesting to see how things get changed around. We were looking forward to sailing out of Galvaston, never been there before.
  19. This is our experience from last February, very similar to others that have shared info on this thread. My husband had to go to the Encore medical center on our cruise this past winter. He had pnuemonia. After many tests (the medical center doctor and staff were very thorough), this was his diagnosis. For the next 3 days he had to go to the medical center in the mornings and again in the evenings for IV antibiotics and nebulizer breathing treatments. Prior to disembarking the ship, the medical center staff gave us a very detailed itemized list of everything the doctors and nurses did. As well as an itemized list of charges for everything. They were amazing. At the end of the cruise we had a bill of &18,000.00 that was charged to my credit card. Far exceeded my credit card limit. Well, long story short..... NCL will give you everything you need to send to Medicare, yes we are over 65. Medicare will cover some expenses outside of the US, however, very specific limitations, the big kicker being they will only cover services provided by a USA liscensed physician. There are no USA credentialed liscensed doctors on NCL ships. Medicare will not cover any of it. But you must have the EOB from Medicare to submit to your supplemental insurance. We have a plan G supplemental plan, very similar to the plan F. Many of the Plan G have a foreign travel coverage benefit that will pay 80% of approved charges. So after we recieved the denial EOB from Medicare I sent the required documentation to the supplemental insurance. About 7 weeks later my husband recieved a check in the mail for the 80% of the entire bill. I then sent the required documentaion to AON Affinity travel insurance, within a few days I received an email from AON giving me the option to have payment sent via check in the mail or direct deposit to a checking or savings account. I opted for direct deposit, 3 days later we had the balance of the $18,000 paid. It all took about 4 months. So I guess this was not much of a short story, but this is what we learned and how this process worked for us. Key points..... make sure you get the complete itemized detailed services and charges from the medical center, you have to go through the step by step process of insurance denials or payments EOBs before AON will do anything, once you have that they will pay the balance up to whatever limit you have. We only had the standard coverage plan which pays up to $20,000. Anyway, hope this can help someone else out there. Good luck to all and happy cruising.
