I believe that the parent(s) can do the authourization for the teen/youth program before you sail so that they can...we are looking at taking my sissy's granddaughters in December & that was my understanding...that it can be printed & signed by them

Sea Day~March 13 Evening Entertainment Other than the production shows, I usually only go to see the magicians in the theater. Tonight was R J Cantu. I think if they did not play the video introduction making us expect an extraordinary magician he would not have been so disappointing. I did laugh out loud at one trick with a banana instead of a bandana, but the rest was a little bit boring. The next show was much more enjoyable. Tiki Dave did The Jukebox of our Lives in the Explorer’s lounge. This show was a fun, interactive journey through musical memories backed up by the show band. It was a wonderful end to another fun day at sea. Sea Day~March 13 Sabatini’s We often get specialty dining from our travel agent & this time I hadn’t been able to make reservations before the cruise on the app, so we were assigned this evening at Sabatini’s & decided not to change it. I must say, the Sabatini's on the Crown is lovely. Spacious, well laid out with aft views. We asked & they gave us a table with a view of the sunset. I was not excited looking at the new menu but we chose to give it a try. Stuzzichino della casa: arancini al tartufo, breads I missed the specialty Sabatini's rolls with rosemary sprigs (so delicious), instead there were generic ones (good enough but nothing special): the arancini were also a sad replacement for the zonzelle & prosciutto as the opener: Zuppe e Insalata: ribollita (good), insalata mista (surprisingly delicious) my BIL liked the soup & crouton (served on a separate plate): the insalata was perhaps the best thing I ate there, absolutely delicious: Antipasti: fritto misto alla Veneziana I couldn't find an antipasti that I wanted to try, but my family liked the fritto misto (although they couldn't come up with a sauce for my sissy that didn't have peppers in it to dip it or the arancini): Primi piatti: seafood linguini, lobster tortelloni, spaghetti polpette the two seafood dishes were good but the spaghetti was way aldenti Secondi piatti: filetto de branzino alle erbe mediterranee, ossobuco milanese, scallopini di pollo al limone e rosmarino the Branzino was good: ossobuco was good but the giant serving of risotto was gummy & unpleasant: chicken scallopini (no photo) was really rubbery Dolci: specialita della chef...rocher (the round ball in chocolate), tiramisu, vanilla panna cotta, zabaglione marsala the chef' s specialty is fun, but the plating was very disappointing compared to previous incarnations (glass goblets rather than the bowls you find in the buffet) I know that many people are very excited by the new menu, but for me it is just kind of sad. I preferred the old one (I can't eat shellfish, so my options are limited)...also the last two times we have eaten at Sabatini's we have been disappointed (2 different ships, once the old menu & once the new one) in both the quality of the food & the service. It is confusing because they call them by the same name... Medallion Medallion App Medallion class ships & so on the Medallion looks like this & comes with a clear plastic holder & a lanyard (you can buy other holders for it if you wish or just toss it in your pocket...it can go in the pool or shower) on the website when you are in your cruise, in the middle of the page you will see this, as you can see, under the links to download the app is a link to use the web version....but again, if you have problems don't stress over it, they will help you at the port if you need it

you will want the medallion...small quarter sized device that takes the place of the old cruise card...it will unlock your door, ID you for dinner etc., get you on & off the ship you do not need the app on a phone...neither of my travel companions ever use the app (I do their check in for them, but you can do it on the website or not do it & have things done at the port)...it can be helpful if you are tech savvy, but many prefer to lock their devices up for the crusie & never use them you will be fine & it should not impact your enjoyment of your cruise at all

Sea Day~March 13 DaVinci Lunch My sissy has decided they have figured out the hollandaise sauce for the eggs benedict after the first day & so wanted to go back for more. I ordered the gyro-style pork pita sandwich. Except for the pita bread, there was nothing about it that resembled a gyro & it was not very tasty either. Her meringue citrus tartlet was tasty. I have discovered that there are many Princess desserts that are not worth the calories & I often stick to International Cafe cookies (this cruise, the peanut butter, when they could be found were disappointing, but the oatmeal were excellent). Since we will be in Sabatini’s for dinner, here are the dinner menus as well. Somehow we always seem to go to the specialty restaurants on Italian night. so excited for you! you have lots of good advice already & I will try not to repeat: if possible, fly in at least the evening before so you don't have problems with delayed flights etc. (you can go to the west coast departures board for recommendations on places to stay etc.) bring some extra patience for embarkation, there can be hassles & delays but you will get on the ship & be on vacation soon sailaway under the GoldenGate Bridge is gorgeous & might be one time you want to leave your aft balcony view SF is rarely warm in the summer (growing up in the area, we could tell tourists because they were freezing in shorts & t's thinking they would be in CA & it would be hot)...even for embarkation layers will be important...they do (or did a few years ago sell nice AK jackets in the ports so if packing is a problem, you could get something & then just pay for extra luggage or ship home) don't stress if you can't get all the medallion app pre boarding stuff done it will be ok definitely follow the advice to tour the ship the first day...see the different venues get your head around the layout (many ships still have carpet that has different color accents on the port & starboard sides of the cabin hallways, so figure out what color you want to get to your room so you don't end up in a hall on the opposite side searching for your room) we take door magnets just to make it easier to spot our rooms in a long row of matching doors also try all the different included food venues early in the cruise so you don't discover your favorite on the last day & feel you missed out...main dining rooms (all have the same dinner menus, but only one will be open for breakfast & lunch on sea days), buffet, poolside burger grill, pizza & softserve, international cafe...afternoon tea is fun at least once & pub lunch will probably be offered once...most room service (which can come to you almost everywhere) is included too (use the app to order)...if you want something you don't see, ask if it is available the crew on Princess ships are wonderful...your room steward can help with any room issues...ice, ac not working different pillows........ relax & enjoy, meet people or stay to yourselves, try new activities or just hang on your balcony...one of the great joys of cruising is you can make it what you want it to be the enrichment talks by the local experts & naturalists are well worth your time...recently most have been posted on the TV after so you can catch them if you miss the presentation...we even had a totem carver in the Piazza on our Alaska cruise binoculars for whales & other wildlife the other day you might (or might not, your choice) want to be away from your balcony is if you are cruising one of the glacier inlets so you can go from side to side don't stress about doing/seeing everything, you won't enjoy what you do & maybe plan to return the book they sell onboard (Alaska Companion) is very good..you can order used copies ahead but usually without the map. I have heard but have nerver ordered a custom medallion that they are just stickers printed & applied to the medallion...I clip mine to my wallet with an airtag holder I got online...you can find lots of options very inexpensively...so no one sees it anyway),

have not been on the Caribbean Princess, but generally, if you are not crossing fire doors, the balconies on Princess ships have doors that can be opened by your stateroom steward, this is lovely as you can check to see if your traveling companions are up & moving rather than knocking on the doors...you didn't ask, but you might do better pricewise (unless you have one of the rare sales where 3 &4 passengers are cheaper, to book 3 balcony rooms with connecting balconies & have an extra bathroom

Sea Day~March 13 A Day of Surprises Because this is one of those big birthday years (think medicare), I told Princess I was celebrating even though it isn’t for a couple of months. It is always interesting to see what, if anything, Princess will do for a birthday or other celebration. Today was the day of birthday (& other) surprises. I was surprised when someone waiting for the elevator with us called me by name until I saw this: The door sign was magnetic & reusable (although I saw a bunch of different kinds of signs on doors). I was especially surprised when I came back from morning crafts to see our room steward had brought me these!! …& of course, the birthday cake…usually I catch them before there is singing, but this time they snuck up on me….there was even a real lighted candle on the cake…since I wanted Sabatini’s dessert more than this they delivered it to my room later (& only ended up taking one bite…usually the mouse inside is good but it was a very strange texture)… I was also given my first duck!...not for my birthday, just because... …& totally not birthday related, but the best surprise of the day was the letter telling us that Princess was giving us 15% of our cruise fare in FCC (this is not the first cruise I have missed ports on, not even the most ports missed, but the first time we have been compensated in any way for our missed ports). in the kitchen for the MDR, but the one time I ordered a burger in the MDR (different cruise) it felt like it had sat around for awhile so never tried that again, you could perhaps try asking at the Salty Dog Grill as they cook them right there (especially if it was a time they were not too busy)

thank you for your kind words about my ramblings, I have enjoyed sharing our cruise with y'all I have not done Hawai'i during the summer, but my experience is that with that big stretch of ocean there will be weather at sea & this year the weather is being shall we say, very creative...I would not say the seas were terribly bad although there were seasoned cruisers who were very sick the first days out, so they would probably disagree with me...the pools were not closed most of the time & I don't think they were drained, it was more that we had strange movement than that it was so much...I certainly recovered from my post cruise vertigo faster this year than I did last year...hope the seas are good to you in June the flower leis are done with the cruise staff & there is no charge...the crochet & nut ones were done by our Hawai'ian ambassadors & were pretty pricy...I bought one kit (I had wanted to learn to make them since our 2019 cruise) & considered it the cost of lessons...they do charge to your room account so if you have OBC you can use that, some on our cruise kept buying more to make...what crafts they have exactly will depend on which Hawai'ian ambassadors you have... I have never been on the Emerald, so I can't really answer your question...the Crown I think is between the Ruby (which is maybe very like the Emerald) & the Grand...seems fairly similar to both of those with some differences, but if you mean how is the Emerald doing maintenance etc wise, I don't have any answers...

I didn't love Guy's on Carnival either for the burgers...they do have lots of options for toppings...I think they are an ok burger, not great but not horrible, but I have heard people rave about them...as for inconsistency, that is one of the consistent realities of food on Princess...you can love a dish on one ship & the same dish with the same description will be completely different on another ship! For me, one of the things on any cruise is to figure out what they do well, I always try to go to all the different included food locations early in the cruise so I can figure out where I will eat throughout....what was a surprise for me on this cruise was the inconsistency on the ship, usually if they do something well or plate a certain way it is the same for the whole cruise, but this time you never knew from meal to meal what would happen.

they are two different venues...the grill is up on the pool deck & is included at no additional charge (although on some ships they have items that are an upcharge)...the gastropub is an added cost location...on the Crown it is part of the Wheelhouse bar at some times (I have heard that the burgers there are outstanding but never tried them)... thank you for your kind words & for sticking with all my longwinded rambling about our cruise

you should not have a problem, but sometimes when they make changes on their end it makes changes to our stuff...my poor sissy has had trouble on our last 2 cruises because they changed her birth month in their system so she couldn't access, got it fixed, then they changed it on her passport info for the next cruise!!! ...they were with relatively short phone calls able to restore her info, but she still can't access the app with her login info only with her booking numbers!

would also be nice to be able to sort by activity or interest...i.e. bingo, or a certain entertainer, or whatever but maybe someday
