You pretty much described my experience on the 16 day Radiance Panama Canal cruise a few weeks ago.

Recently off the Radiance and we didn’t even do the app drill. Walked to our station, the guy there said, “you’ve done this before haven’t you?” Then scanned our cards and we were on our way.

Just off Radiance. They gave away cheap little blue disposable type plastic cups with the Royal logo on them.

IMO, the mega ships don’t seem to feel that much more crowded but the issue to me is dumping 6k people off at each port. Getting that many people off the ship and sorted into excursion buses, etc is very hectic.

Sorry, but that sounds gross to me. 😊

A few things I noticed about Radiance having just got off the ship. The hallway carpeting is pretty bad and musty. I did notice at the front of the ship, deck 11 or 12 outside, were many rolls of plastic covered carpet, I assume to replace the hallways. The furniture in the Schooner bar is pretty beat up, probably from being dragged around and banged into tables. The casino was not in very good shape and could use some more current slot machines. IMO, Radiance class ships are the most beautiful ships Royal has ever made and I hope they stay in the fleet for a long time to come. As a side note, I’ve never seen West Indies spelled like on the elevator doors. (Pic below). 😉

Just got off Radiance on the 23rd. Samba is open and was outstanding. In fact I gave Chops, Giovanni’s, and Samba a 10. Didn’t do Izumi. I can’t think of anything good to say about MDR or WJ though.

My take is that there’s no way I’d spend $9k on a GS on Liberty…. Even if they gave me a 4 or 5 hundred $ discount off of that. Is that for two pax?

If you’ve never done it, I’d do Wonderland just for the experience. If you have, I’d do 159 CP.

The steward will ask you on the first day. Suites still twice a day.

On our recent Radiance sailing, we were in a balcony gty, assigned a cabin (in a great location btw) and then received an email offering a full refund of the fare price plus $300 obc if we’d downgrade to an OV, or if we’d cancel, they’d give a full refund plus a future cruise credit for the full fare amount. I declined. A guarantee is a guarantee and I don’t know that anyone has actually been kicked off a ship involuntarily.

I was pretty agitated when they started this but have adjusted to once in the evening which has turned out ok. We don’t make a mess and I make the bed in the morning and it’s nice to know there won’t be anyone in the cabin if you need to make that quick stop to the restroom after breakfast. But, as said, raising grats and reducing service is not cool. Also it seems that the stewards are so overtaxed, you get no personal service anymore.

Just got back from a 16 day PC cruise on Radiance. Ate dinner in the dining room three times and gave up in disgust. The chefs are trying hard to make a good meal out of the crap they’re being given to work with but you can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear. The Windjammer had the same stuff every day - chicken nuggets, macaroni & cheese, mashed potatoes, three different kinds of pizza and a pan of some kind of beef mixture and a pan of mystery fish. As usual, lots of pretty but taste free desserts. I mostly ate a hamburger for a late lunch and no dinner. Very disappointing except I didn’t gain a pound. The D+ bathroom amenities that used to be L’Occitane are now L’Motelle No. 6. The crew are still trying but are working with less and trying to keep up. Mr Liberty has cheapened Royal to Dollar Store status.

Got the email prior to the sailing I’m currently on. Requested beds separated. Guess what. They were not. You can’t count on a prior request. Just ask the steward when you get there.

On the Radiance right now and the tv in our cabin is so old it doesn’t even have hdmi ports. It only has an old component port.. 😆

One word about Galveston in January and February. It can be very foggy sometimes that can cause delays.

My formal attire now as well.

I hope Royal is writing a check it can cash….
