Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I have just received an email from Int Inv that i have pasted below. I think it is saying the cut off date is 31st March. Dear Investor, We are contacting you because you have an outstanding shareholder benefit request for an upcoming cruise logged on our system. Carnival have recently changed the process for applications to their shareholder benefit scheme, meaning Interactive Investor are no longer able to process on-board perk requests on behalf of clients. Carnival have confirmed that shareholders who wish to receive their on-board perk are now required to upload proof of share ownership through a mobile application called Stockperks, and they have provided the following link with further details: https://www.stockperks.com/carnivalcorp Interactive Investor do not have a relationship with Stockperks, and this is not an endorsement of their app or service. Quarterly Statements detailing shares held on an account, and Contract Notes documenting share purchases, can be found in the Document History section of your online account. Individual proof of holding documents can also be requested via secure message or phone call, for clients who purchased their shares more recently than their most recent statement. All outstanding requests up to March 31st, 2024, have been submitted to their respective cruise provider for consideration; however, clients may still be required to upload their own proof of holding to the Stockperks app going forward. We trust the information provided above is clear and helpful, however please contact us by secure message if you require further clarification. Kind regards, interactive investor
  2. I applied sunday by email in the "old method" for shareholder credit for voyage in March and got notification that credit has been applied today. No apps needed
  3. There was a discussion earlier in this thread on creaking cabins and i posted about my previous poor experience in a suite with a banging and creaking cabin. This time i booked a deluxe balcony on deck 9 which was the same type as selbourne experienced noise before it was fixed. so i was a little apprehensive. However i can report that this cabin midships on deck was perfect - no creaking not even in the 60 knot winds we had in B of Biscay. no noise from neighbours or flushing toilets and it was kept immaculate. A couple of other things. this was a 12 night cruise and we had 3 formal nights and a Christmas attire night on the last evening for those christmas jumpers. The dining tables were set with crackers and a christmas special menu. There was a Christmas pantomine 2 afternoons, guest speakers and a final night headliners christmas show. Al in all very well done P & O - a great cruise.
  4. Capt annouced 6pm yesterday that noro level now back to normal and extra measures now halted
  5. I just double checked and we are deck 9 midships this next time not 10 as i said originally.
  6. When we had our problem the Deck Officer gave us ear plugs but we found although they helped it was insufficient reduction in noise level to allow sllep .
  7. Creaky cabins - last november we were on Ventura and treated ourselves to our first and last suite. It was deck 14 midships. A beautiful suite but once we hit only slightly rough weather the creaking started. Suites are double width with only support in the middle from some furniture. We experienced the creaking Selbourne reported as the ship twisted but ours was then accompanied by a loud bang when something in the ceiling decided it couldn't take it any more and moved violently. As the ship unwound the bang happened again as it dropped back into place. We found ourselves lying in bed listening to the creak and waiting for the bang. I recorded it like you did and took the recording to reception. They sent deck officer with a sound meter and we sat and listened.. They agreed something was wrong and we said we could not sleep in that cabin. They said there were no more empty suites so we offered to move to a balcony to get some sleep. They then found an empty suite on deck 15 right at the front. Nothing like as nice as the one we had but it was better than no sleep. Unfortunately this one had its own problems. . When the ship twisted in strong winds the dividing door that separates our suites balcony from balcony next door could break free from its lock and swing violently banging against the ship. I thought it was just a one off but after getting it locked closed again it broke free the next night. The cabin is also opposite a locked closed door to the thermal spa and when the ship rolls water spills out under the door wetting the carpet in the corridor necessitating fans runnig to dry the carpet and that wet dog smell. As there was rot around the bottom of the door this must have been a long established problem. We had to have the engineers come to work on the AC 3 times at is just stopped working completely so the cabin rapidly dropped to the outside temperature as the wind chilled the walls as it is right at the front. I had thought if we avoided suites we would be ok for serious creaking and have a superior balcony booked midships deck 10 later this month but after reading your experience am concerned. Before anyone says all ships creak we are well seasoned (50+) cruisers so know what is normal and that creaking and banging like this isnt.
  8. On Ventura if you are on a saver fare and given fixed time dining can you change to anytime dining on the ship?
  9. Lots of cruise lines call at Portsmouth. Oceania Saga Viking Tui Seabourne Virgin etc. It has recently had its berths extended in size and work is on going on the terminal buildings. Currently you have to use a coach to reach the ship from the terminal buildings as you transit through the cargo area which is less than optimal. Why do you like Dover?
  10. I have copied and pasted a copy of the info given by the Saudi Governement cruise people to the ship explaining the system. It could be that for their own reasons on occasion the Saudis issue transit visas early based on the earlier ships manifest they have been given. Transit Visa online application – Ship Management Notes You will receive an updated guideline once there is any change in the MOFA portal ❖ To the Ship management: 1. Ensure the manifest details (Passengers list) are correct as per the passenger passport. 2. Share the confirmed booking list (manifest) continuously with Cruise Saudi team, including (passenger’s full name, passport number, date of birth, nationality, and gender), to approve the eVisaimmediately by the authorities. 3. Share the final manifest 48Hrs before the ship arrivals to Jeddah/Dammam. 4. Please ensure the applicant has the eVisa printed or downloaded on their devices and presented at the Immigration counter
  11. The way the transit visa works is you apply and pay. Nothing then happens until 48hrs before the ship docks when MSC send the ships manifest to the Saudi visa people. They check the ships manifest and if you have successfully applied for a transit visa it is emailed to you. If MSC send the manifest late the visas are late . You will not get a transit visa sooner than MSC submit the manifest.
  12. Was the Saudi visa cost reimbursed because you had a package from MSC that should include cost of visa? We are going on this trip later in January as a fly cruise but booked with a travel agent and i have seen no mention of being able to be reimbursed for the visa we have to buy anywhere on msc website. Great useful info about the tours - thanks.
  13. I had no problem connecting to ships WiFi anywhere on the ship although moving around the ship could cause disconnections and having to log in again. Ships connection to internet varied from slow to occasionally none
  14. We did self disembark and were off the ship by 7.15 - easy. Towards the end there was over 100 pax down with covid. We were ok on the cruise but under 24 hours after disembarking my wife went down with a bad dose and is quite poorly., i have a muzzy head. We felt most exposed in the MDR as although we had a table for 2 over 6ft from closest next table as the cruise went on the closest 3 tables all became empty. It could be the waiters transferred it as they go from table to table collecting used dishes and cutlery but who knows for sure - we were meticulous on masks and hand sanitizing
