  1. It is always good to hear from someone who hasn’t posted for a while. Sounds like your medical problems are being solved bit by bit and hope it’s not too long before you are on the high seas again!
  2. Thank you for your reply. I hope you have a lovely cruise.
  3. Hi - I’ve done this transfer twice (from Glasgow). The return coach will probably leave the port about 9.00am and I’d guess the time taken will be about 5 or so hours although I’m sure others will be able to give you a more accurate time. Yes, there are toilets on board the coaches and there will be a service station stop for refreshments. I would be interested to know how you got travel insurance after your illnesses? Did you find a company who would insure you but without cover for cancer?
  4. I’m impressed with Nationwide Insurance - posted the documents re my claim for a cancelled cruise last Thursday, got confirmation of receipt (and a note to say they might take 21 days to process it) on Friday and today received a text message to say the money is winging its way to my bank account. No complaints there then - its a pity I couldn’t get that type of speedy response for results of NHS tests!
  5. Wiener schnitzel - one of my all time favourites. Sad that it’s never seen here now.
  6. One of the best cruises we ever did was on Royal Princess also in 2024 - Singapore to Cape Town. I think it was for 30 or 31 nights - absolutely fabulous. Don’t know what they are like now though.
  7. Congratulations on your win - I haven’t had anything for ages (probably because I sold some). The most I’ve had is £500 - anybody admitting to a big prize.
  8. How I agree with you about the weather - it has been truly dreadful up here this year. I was looking forward to my cruise on Azura next month but unfortunately I’ve had to cancel due to some current medical problems. I shall just have to hope that things will get sorted out and I’ll be able to get away in the winter. 🤞
  9. This cheeky wee chap was enjoying his snack on my fence this morning! Not too bad a day up here - definitely couldn’t say it was warm but not too bad for a bit of gardening. Hope you are all having a good Sunday.
  10. Looks tasty Graham. These boards are very quiet just now - maybe lots of people are away on holiday? I was wondering about a couple of posters we haven’t heard from for a while - Beckett for one. I think she was undergoing tests so I hope all is well with her and twotravellersLondon has been missing for ages too.
  11. I have been on four or five Azamara cruises - well worth a look although as Bloodaxe says they rarely do a round trip so you might have to fly one way. Older small ships but wonderful food and a great on board atmosphere.
  12. Fishers in the City in Thistle Street (runs parallel to Rose Street in the city centre) has excellent fish and there are a few other places in that street that are pretty acceptable too. Enjoy your visit.
  13. I take it all back - raining here today too 💦. I might have known it was too good to be true!
  14. We do have topsy turvy weather in Britain! This is actually the first day in ages it has been anything near warm up here 😎. Maybe the change in government isn’t the only change for the better! 😄
  15. My reading is always best after a couple of hours in the garden. No chance of that this week - the weather is atrocious. I am almost looking forward to winter 🤔
  16. Oops - sorry folks just heard a shout from the living room that England are in trouble at the football!
  17. I’m sure you’ll do your best to fit something in! I am having a couple of nights at my son’s in the country - the weather is actually quite pleasant. We’ve been busy in the garden but three plants jumped into my basket at the garden centre where he went for building sand this morning. 😉 Now having a nice glass of rosé waiting for dinner to cook (not by me!).
  18. I think some of you ungrateful southerners should move up here - it’s only just reached a miserly 19 degrees today! 😢
  19. Agree -I have been numerous times on Azura and think it is the best restaurant on the ship. Also went last year a few times on Britannia and it was excellent too. Unfortunately not so much to my taste on Arvia a couple of months ago as there’s a different menu on the new ships but the Conrey and Barrow white Burgundy- exquisitely good but expensive! I’m hoping it’s on Azura when I’m on there again in September.
  20. Lots of us up here watch Two Doors Down - I think it is hilarious. 🤣 Hope you understand the accents - it might be challenging for you!
  21. I’ve had a look there but unsuccessfully - is he still using the same moniker?
  22. What a shame you couldn’t celebrate on the cruise! Two years ago I went on a Tui river cruise on the Rhine and it was the opposite problem - not enough water as there had been a drought!
