At least in the Comedy Club and Quest

Not sure when this started but on our cruise last week on Odyssey they were carding kids at the doors and security was going around removing kids who had made it in prior to the event starting.  It is unlike before where they could be there with their parent, now it does not matter, if they are not 18 they are forced to leave regardless of whether their parents are standing beside them or not.  I heard the same thing from a friend with a 17 YO on Icon last week.

I am suspect that there started to be too many entitled parents who decided that their 12 yo was mature enough to go so they just made it black or white with no option for parental consent.

They were scanning sea pass cards to get into Quest on Adventure at Christmas and refusing entry for under 18s.

For those that have sailed out of NJ on the Anthem, do you sail by the Statue of Liberty on the way out to the Sea?  If so, time your Northstar to sail away to get a special picture

We were lucky enough to go by the SoL on our Anthem trip in January 2018. And even more lucky to get to go up in the NorthStar on the way by. It wasn’t advertised it was running but we asked the guy there and they took it up. This was before they started charging. Captain Ban told us afterwards that they rarely go up towards Manhattan as they need clearance from the port, time and proper weather.

The only other dock that I THINK can hold Oasis would be the one to the east that Carnival Mardi Gras uses.

When we stopped at PC on Oasis in August, we docked at Terminal 3 where Mardi Gras docks. Wonder was at Terminal 1. Was weird getting off Oasis and everything Carnival/Mardi Gras in the terminal

No way I would book at those prices -- for a ship with 7,000 passengers.

    For fun, I did price out the Ultimate Family Townhouse for our group of 8;

    August 9, 2025 = $116,000

    December 27, 2025 = $140,000

    mac_tlc

    I did same for the Dec. 20, 2025 for 4 of us…

$173,596!  Good news though is that price includes $74,000 (30% off) savings.😜

Sorry @Ourusualbeach we are not booking this one😁

Edit to add that is CDN$$…maybe not so bad after all? Don’t think so!

Two issues right off the bat.

First, if it is a contract, how can they change it unilaterally for those who have already booked and agreed to the terms of the existing contract?

Secondly, Royal needs to employ proof readers, particularly when it comes to publishing contracts. In the Canada-based contract, the legal section dealing with jurisdiction states that litigation will be:

IN AND BEFORE THE COURTS OF ENGLAND AND WALES, TO THE EXCLUSION OF ALL OTHER COURTS OR TRIBUNALS.

Hope they will pay for my airfare...or cruise to get there!😆

  6. Not trying to aggravate anyone that does not like the status matching of kids, etc after 18, but how many of you have no problem with having your status matched (to Elite) with Celebrity?
I think the status match for kids, SO, etc is good and I think it helps Royal. I probably would not have sailed as much with Royal trying to get my kids to D by 18 and they may not continue to sail Royal as adults if they didn’t get there. It is a way to lock people into the brand (and for being loyal) just like Apple or Google and all the integration with there services.

Each section is separate from each other and refers to something else.  You cannot combine sections.

Kids under 18 shares their parents status but they have their own points. Just like spouses, they appear to have the same points as the highest member in the household yet each does have their own point totals.  Kids upon turning 18 now see their own point totals yet they retain the status of their parents the last time they sailed with them. To advance to the next level they must then accumulate enough points on their own to reach that level.

This means a 17 year old with 14 points who sailed with Diamond parents when they were 17 retains the status of her parents of diamond yet has 14 points yet is still a diamond.  If they fail to remove the child from the relationship at 18 and sails with the parents again and the parents happened to make D+ and that was incorrectly passed on to the child then that D+ level would be removed and the 18 year old would revert to being Diamond with whatever their point total is.  This is the way the policy has worked for years and there is nothing new in the policy to suggest a change.

Again the only reason this thread exists is because of one person's report.

This is exactly how I understand it to work and how it worked with our son when he turned 18 last year. He kept his diamond status but reverted to his earned 54 points.

Ken, does it make a difference when the child last sailed with parents? I thought it did. Example, if child sails with parents once when they are emerald so kid becomes emerald too(kid has say 10 points) and doesn’t sail again with parents until after 18 but the parents sailed enough without child and made it to diamond before they turned 18, kid would not keep diamond status? They would only be emerald with 10 points?

    *long winded example I know!

Edited to add…Ken, you don’t need to reply. Posted before I read you are done replying. 🙂

  8. We made it to diamond last year before my eldest son turned 18. He was matched with our status and points (90) until he turned 18 last Sept. After he turned 18, his status stayed diamond and his points reverted to his own accumulated of 54. He would then only move up to D+ once he accumulated the required points on his own. This was the way I understood it to work and how it shows on his profile. We took a short 4 nt cruise in Dec. and his points went to 58 and status is still diamond. He also received a diamond pin from the LA and enjoyed the 4 drinks/day no problem. One thing that I was told/read somewhere was that he had to be the cruise when we hit diamond or on a cruise with us as diamond before he turned 18 for him to keep diamond after he reached 18. Based on that we made sure he was on the cruise when we hit diamond. Not sure if that is true or not or if it makes a difference?

It has been known to happen that sometimes RCI fails to keep up with someone's age, C&A points and C&A status. Keep an eye on your son's status after he turns 18 and you attain Diamond status. I would not be shocked (or even mildly surprised) if your son turns Diamond when you do.

Nice.  You mean stay silent and just see?  We have a cruise booked end of the year which will bring us to Diamond.  There is no reason anyways for me to reach out and let them know he turned 18 .

Not to put a damper on this, but we just got to diamond in March before our oldest turned 18 in Sept. When I look at his profile now, he has the diamond status but points reverted back to his own 56. Before September, his points still matched ours at 90. Doesn’t mean that it won’t happen but the system adjusted his pretty quick.
