  1. I'm happy. I thought staff accommodation was usually on the areas without cabin numbers?
  2. Southern Carribean makes a balcony more attractive. FYI, never had trouble finding seating on deck if all you want is outside and don't care if you are near the pool.
  3. Celebrity is offering an excursion to Orient Beach that includes lunch at a restaurant. Anyone know which restaurant they use and if it is any good? We will probably book it just to avoid the hassle of a taxi to Orient Beach.
  4. Three other ships is normal. Unfortunately, you are correct that the old town is too far to walk with young children. I am guessing that for one day a car rental does not make sense. Does Disney offer a shuttle to old town? FYI, Old San Juan is hilly. Not bad for adults, however, might be a bit much for the 19-month-old and maybe even the 5-year-old. Personally, we like the forts in Old San Juan, they take the national park pass if you have one. When do you dock, when do you leave?
  5. We have done inside, Ocean View, and balcony/veranda on various ships. While we prefer balcony, we look at the cabin as really just a place to sleep, not as a place to spend any time. We look at the price differences and go for Ocean View or balcony if the daily price difference is not that large. However, this is really just a matter of personal preference and what you think is important to you and what you want to spend money on. It also depends on the itinerary. Will it be cold and dreary or warm and sunny? Do you see yourself spending most of your time on-deck or in your cabin? What is important to you on a vacation? How much do you want to spend on a vacation?
  6. Turn phone to Airplane Mode then turn on Wi-Fi.
  7. We had booked the least expensive inside cabin on the QE, and when I just logged on, I noticed that we were moved to Deluxe Inside. We are still at least 8 months away from sailing. I am happy getting a larger room however is an upgrade this far away from sailing normal?
  8. We are booked on the QE next June and really hope it is fixed by then.
  9. An alcohol beverage package.
  10. I don't see how it is a problem. If it was within a few days of travel I would hold off just in case there was some minor reaction.
  11. Go on the smallest possible ship.
  12. At prices like that not worth the effort to even go to a wine store on shore.
  13. I have used a big box travel people on occasion. The only issue with them, and I am not sure it is a real issue, is that they don't participate in MoveUp bidding.
  14. CruiseCritic is not the best place to ask this question. However, I have a pair of Sony headphones that I like. A friend of mine swears by his Bose headphones.
  15. I believe that Canada has something similar although not exactly the same. Again, the US is not going to modify their requirements just for the few back-to-back cruises on the QM2. It is just too small to consider. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH TRADE UNIONS.
  16. It is not specifically for cruise ships. I believe it is for all travel through the US. I think it may have been initially for airlines. I think it may have come about to stop wanted persons (terrorists, people wanted by Interpol, etc.) from using the US as a transit point. The law just doesn't have a specific exception for 14-day B2B transatlantic travel between the US and England on the QM2.
  17. One of the reasons I love this forum is I get to learn new words I have never heard before, "winge." Had to look it up on the internet. Anyway, the US is one of the countries that does not allow people to transit through the US without going through immigration. For example, if you use the US for an international flight transit you have the same problem. Anyway, as other people have mentioned there is a ferry/water taxi right next to the pier. You might want to check the schedules to see where it goes. Assuming the weather is good when you dock. The weather for this Sunday and Monday are iffy.
  18. So, what do you see as the difference. I have only been on one cruise to Bermuda, and it was a 10-day cruise.
  19. Thank you, didn't know if there was any problem with what was below, eg extra noisy.
  20. Is this still true these days now that there is bidding?
  21. You can get drinks, WiFi and gratuities in any class by booking All Included.
  22. Yes, it is made with coffee beans. However, they use different beans, roasted differently, grounded finer, and the espresso is made under pressure. I have been on ships where I gag after a few sips of the coffee however the cappuccinos and lattes are fine. Sounds like I will be drinking cappuccinos or lattes. The only question is if I will drink enough for the package. Still would like to know if there are chai lattes and if they are covered by the package.
