  1. That’s good there will be a dry dock.

Does anyone know how I can get my status on Princess? I sailed multiple times as a kid with my parents, never as an adult. My last cruise was 2007. Should I call them? Would they be able to look up by my name to find how many cruises I’ve been on?

  2. Which cabin type would you recommend? Since it is pretty port intensive should we save money and do a balcony or splurge since it’s a special occasion and do a mini suite or suite? Do you get extra perks with those rooms like you do on other lines?

  3. We were on the Crown for 28 days in October 2015 & 2016 We had a wonderful time each year. We are also booked on the British Isles cruises in 2019. We will be on from Aug 29 thru October 8. When is your cruise?

We haven’t booked yet, still looking but I think we’d be doing one of the August dates. It looks like you can embark out of a few different cities on the same cruise. I like the one out of Paris so we could spend a few days there before hand and my fiancé wants to go to Amsterdam after which would be an easy train ride away.

  4. How is the Crown Princess? I’m considering a British Isles cruise on it in 2019 for my honeymoon. I was reading through some reviews and people were saying the ship felt tired and needed a refurbishment. Does anyone know if one might be scheduled before summer 2019? The itinerary looks great, but I want to love the ship I’ll be on for almost two weeks.

  5. All of these responses have been really helpful thank you all! It is a lot to take in. I think you are all right that a suite probably wouldn’t get the full use out of it.

The cruises that intrigue us the most is either Baltic, UK, Iceland. I like some of the Mediterranean ones, but I’ve done those before and I think he wants to try something that will be new to both of us.

I like the looks of the longer cruises 10 or 12 days, which will have a few sea days mixed in to relax. We’ll have been together four years by the time the honeymoon happens. I’m not the type of person to relax on the beach all day and like the idea of exploring European cities, I think the long days will work perfectly with a relaxing night on board.

  6. For my upcoming honeymoon cruise to Europe I’m conflicted on which type of cabin to get. I’ve never sailed in a suite before and I’m not sure if a honeymoon is worth the extra cost or not.

Sail in Sky Suite - our most expensive option. It’ll be around $12,000 for the two of us.

    Pros:

    • Bigger cabin
    • Having a butler
    • Getting to try the suite restaurant that gets great reviews
    • Make the honeymoon feel extra special?

    Cons:

    • Really expensive. More than double the cost of my most expensive cruise.
    • We aren’t demanding people and might never use our butler for anything so this perk might be a waste
    • We’ve never sailed on Celebrity before so we will probably try their specialty restaurants a lot and might not be in the suite restaurant a lot.
    • It’ll be a Europe cruise so long port days and not on the boat that much

Sail in Aqua Class - this is around $7,000 for the two of us

    Pros:

    • It’s less expensive than sailing in the suite. Could use the savings elsewhere.
    • They have their own special restaurant
    • Maybe make honeymoon feel extra special?
    • Are the rooms bigger than a standard balcony room?

    Cons:

    • Some of the same as the suite.
    • Have read bad reviews of Blu

Sail in concierge - this will be $600 more than a standard balcony room. Is this amount a good price to jump from standard balcony to this? Or not worth it? I don’t really understand the extra benefits to this type of cabin

Sail in balcony - it will cost around $6,000 for two. We loved having a balcony on our only cruise we’ve taken together and I don’t think we’d go below this. This would be our cheapest option.

    Pros:

    • This is our cheapest option that will save a lot of money to use elsewhere
    • I’m very used to sailing in a normal cabin so I wouldn’t really know what I’m missing
    • Port intensive itineraries means I probably won’t be in my room much at all, but most of the cruise I’ve looked at have 4 sea days so will use balcony then
    • Get to try the MDR and not feel like we are missing out if we spend a lot of our time in specialty restaurants

    Cons:

    • This is a special cruise for our honeymoon and we want to go all out, it’ll be our first time to Europe together. Being in a standard balcony might feel less special
    • My future hubby is very tall and seems to hit himself on everything in a small cabin. I’m worried that the room will be really small and he could get hurt. He’d never say so but it’s a concern of mine. I don’t want him getting hurt on our honeymoon
    • He really wants to do a suite and if he feels it’s too expensive might pick a different cruise line and I really like the sound of celebrity

So If you were me which option would you pick?

  7. Currently, those booking the Haven are given the option of taking all current promos. It isn't automatic. Since Haven guests are now charged the 18% on the SDP and UBP, Haven guests can opt out of one or both of those promos and not pay the 18% service charge. If someone isn't careful when booking, it is possible to book a Haven suite and get no promos at all (Norwegian Rate).

So if you’re going through the booking process is there a place to check off you want these perks? I’ve never booked a Norwegian Cruise before but I am considering a haven suite. Is it easy to add these promos?

  8. I'm in the process planning a honeymoon cruise to Europe for the summer 2019. Most cruise lines haven't released their itineraries yet so I've just been doing some research. I've never sailed on MSC before. I was considering the Yacht Club since it'll be a honeymoon so figured worth the splurge. Has anyone sailed in this? How was it? I'm looking at a northern European cruise.

I'm from the US and sailed on Princess, Disney, and Royal Caribbean. How does this cruise line compare to those? I don't speak another language besides English, will that be a problem?

  9. I typically only do cruise line excursions. How are Norwegian’s? I know in Europe it can be long days. Do they do a good job getting to the historical sites? I don’t want something that is just get on a bus and drive around.

Anyone who has done a European excursion through the cruise, how was it? Did you enjoy it? Anything in particular you’d recommend?

We haven’t decide which European area we want to cruise in yet

  10. The wedding is in December and the honeymoon will be the following summer. How long does it take to get a new passport? I was thinking I’ll change my name shortly after my marriage and since I’ll have like 7 months until my honeymoon it’ll be plenty of time to change everything over.

When I book the cruise can I just put my name as my married name or could this cause a problem since that won’t be my name yet

  11. You should be able to change your name. Recommend you call Captain's Club or your TA if booked directly. My understanding is that One Person must be in the name of the original booking.

I haven’t booked yet, I was just thinking about this and realized it could be a problem. Should I put my name as my future married name when I book it? Could that cause a problem?

  12. Perhaps CC should have a contest (with a CC T-Shirt as the prize) which would be "Guess the reason for the strange Itinerary?" But knowing Celebrity we will have to wait until they actually do that voyage to know the reason.

    Hank

Well if I decide to do this cruise I’ll let everyone know why they did this

  13. I don't know about this particular sailing but on our BI cruise this June the Eclipse docked in Dublin at 4.30am, sail away at 5.30pm. I believe it had something to do with the tides, though I never really asked to find out.

On the other hand haven't ever heard of the ship coming back to embarkation port mid-cruise!

It’s definitely the first time I’ve seen an itinerary like that

  14. I don’t think I’d like being on a cruise where a large group takes over, especially on a cruise line I’ve never been on and for a honeymoon.

If it’s for an event in Dublin that would be pretty cool, I’m hoping it’s that.

Has Celebrity ever done something like this where they intended to split it into two smaller bookings but started bigger? Or is this the least likely option for what’s happening?
