I hate to do this but we have decided to cancel for the sake of our jobs. We were supposed to be on the Joy on 3/28. There're just too much bad press about cruising now. My wife works in the service industry in a big company. If one person from the previous voyage got infected, we will end up like the Grand Princess. One of the infected passenger from the 2/11 voyage on Grand Princess is a Chicago Public School teacher. She got off the ship on 2/21. Went back to work on 2/25. Didn't show symptoms until 3/2. Now it's all over the news and the school is closed and students and staffs are all in home quarantine. We're not worried about actually getting the virus but if someone on our ship or the previous voyage does, we will affect a lot of people around us. We just cannot take that responsibility. Funny thing (and also sad) is as soon as we told our friends and co-workers that we're not going, they all breath a sigh of relief. God we were very looking forward for this cruise...
  2. Has anybody flown on an airplane recently? Were there a lot of empty seats? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. To my experience, it’s really up to the employees at the front. I’ve been turned away by the Le Bistro staff because I was wearing jeans and a tshirt without collar. Yet I’ve seen in another cruise that people are eating in Le Bistro in shorts and flip flops. I’ve got into Manhattan Room in shorts without issues. To be safe, wear long jeans. 4. Yes we’ve tried that on a Caribbean cruise. We got our cruises through comps so it’s our cheapest way to vacation. To us, the reason to get on a Caribbean cruise is to do nothing, sleep in, and get fed like a pig! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. These are all good signs I suppose. I hope it will stay this way or get better by the time we board! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. If you’re currently on a NCL ship or if you’ve just got off one, do you notice anything different or weird on board? We’ll be on the Joy in end of March. Do you notice more cleaning being done? Do a lot of people wear face masks? Do they put out more hand sanitizer stations? Anything worth mentioning? Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I see. Ha you beat me to it! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. And it seems like the fight in the video is in a different boat than the pics that the OP posted. Sorry for the confusion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Is it really the Encore? Below is the link but it doesn’t say which ship. But it does say everyone on board will get a full refund? https://abc7chicago.com/video-captures-fight-erupting-on-cruise-ship-after-coronavirus-scare/5980955/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Of course it won’t but to me the chance of getting virus or germs from the MDR is less than from the buffet. The buffet is also full of people and passenger could still cough as they pass your table in this case, multiple times. They could also cough as they get their food. 11. We usually go to the buffet only when we don’t like the MDR’s menu that day. We’re the kind who like to sit at a pleasant environment and be waited on. Yeah sometimes the MDR could be loud and service could be slow but we still like it. It’s a personal preference. With concerns about the corona virus, we’ll definitely eat at the MDR. We'll be on the Norwegian Joy on 3/28. I'm not too concerned about the Corona Virus itself as there're not that many cases in the US and no widespread outbreak yet. Also NCL is not allowing people who has Chinese, Hong Kong, or Macau passports to board. I'm Asian. The main thing I'm concerned about is that people would pick on us simply because we're Asian and it's gonna make the trip less enjoyable. It's sad that we're already seeing some very minor discrimination. 😞
