BEWARE of a tour guide named SORITA, in PORT ELIZABETH- ADDO ELEPHANT RESERVE.
SHE LEFT US HIGH AND DRY...we confirmed with her several time— she seemed friendly, happy to guide us and sounded great- SHE ALWAYS ended her correspondences “blessings” . Blessings indeed- she never showed up and ruined our day...watch out for her. All the other guides knew her .....btw, We had found her on Tours by Locals......She is a BAD BAD unreliable person, stay away from her or she might do it to you too.

:halo:Oh, so moral of the story is, we always give ourselves a minimum of 3 days in the city of ships departure.....

Friends with whom we were traveling, missed their flight from City Airport London because of fog. Because of the itinerary, having 2 sea days, they arrived in Dubrovnik missing 4 days of the 10 day cruise. They were re routed to Moscow..a nightmare for them......I arranged with Rachael, the cruise director at the time, for someone from the ship to collect them at the airport...when they arrived, THE BAND was playing, balloons were everywhere and everyone was cheering for them. Seabourn was fantastic....and of course, it was the talk of the ship!

I take far too much! I hang everything I think I want to take on a rolling rack in my closet, trying to mix and match as much as I can......then I eliminate. I love shoes, so I bring more than I should. A few bags, but clutches are thin...a messenger bag, a tote or two. Always a cashmere sweater, even in warm climates. I use Eastern Mountain packing cubes. in our Val pack, I hang things with plastic bags from the dry cleaner, helps with wrinkles. I use wire hangers or those really thin ones, which I leave on the ship (no more wire hangers, to quote Joan Crawford) so unpacking goes right into the closet! I Keep folded garments in individual plastic bags packed with tissue, keeps nicely stacked and easy to get to without messing up the clothes. A lot of work, but it saves time when unpacking. I love my clothes!

What about Addo Elephant reserve? Is this a good place?

We are doing Singapore-Capetown next year, although a different itinerary (we have more ports in SA) many of these posts have been quite helpful. Sounds like you had a grand trip:cool:

SLSD, there are always people on CC who’s negativity, argumentativeness and nastiness comes through in their posts. I have found, unfortunately, that one must be very careful in the way words are used to avoid being attacked. The purpose of this board is to share information “for the good”, both negative and positive, but there is a way to handle it so people are not insulted.

Well, King Neptune ?Rules. Defer to him and you will have a happy and safe life.

The equator crossing ceremony is hysterical...you will most likely have a good laugh and get a certificate too!

For Singapore we stay at either THE FOUR SEASONS or the RITZ CARLTON. Marina Bay from what we’ve observed, is very large and far more crowded.....it depends though on what kind of environment you are comfortable in. If we arrive very early, we book the room for an extra day so we have a place to crash after the long flight.

Oh I remember those days. One sits and waits, all the while inconspicuously looking for your new BFF!
Seasoned SB travelers know how to blend right away, it’s like being at home!:ship::ship:

Is Seychelles a good port for a ship overnight?
-
Some people can wear those sky highs all day, but at an airport, and there especially, I would prefer to be invisible. It’s always about being appropriate, don’t you think? My comment was tongue and cheek -what I’m looking for is definitely to impress the wild animals when we do the overnight (with the ship from Mombasa) as well as to to provide my own protection, Hah ! Oops, I didn’t catch the typo on the shoes, trolls, don’t come after me, please!. BTW, I’ve seen really cute Doc Martins with red soles, no, couldn’t wear those either, not supposed to wear red. Guess the sneaks will have to do!!

No damper at all on the remark...My philosophy is that when you’re walking down the street in a new place, you either turn left or turn right...everything you do is still a new experience and to be appreciated for what it is !

I guess I can wear my Leboutins then....what will those trolls be thinking?

And the repellant must have deet- hint: wear a rubber glove when applying, it will save your manicure- I learned the hard way!
