Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. We had room 3001 when we went to Antarctica. I don't believe that the public spaces will cause any issues with noise. There is a crew entry door nest to each cabin. When we were onboard they were prepping Octantis for dry dock and there was traffic starting at 6 AM. We spoke to guest services and by the afternoon the issue was resolved and virtually the entire guest services team knew of the issue, The mark of a great cruise line is how they handle problems and Viking did a great job, I wouldn't worry.
  2. There is a link in the first email. The second email addresses the 50 PP credit which we are getting.
  3. I think we all agree it's going to be Rotterdam based on the water level and reduced lock schedule. I think we all agree that things like this make HAL look incompetent. How difficult is it to send an email. I'm certain that someone will will show up late in Amsterdam and won't have time to get to the new location. Earlier cruises leaving were receiving a credit from HAL for transport to Rotterdam. See everyone on 8/21.
  4. Why are you assuming that you're going to get off Rotterdam? She might still be looking for a port 😉
  5. If your unconfutable see if you can use a computer lock. There are plenty of photos and videos on youtube. But I agree with the others just put it in a draw.
  6. I posted this because HAL's communications skills are sorely lacking. I'm aware of the water level issues as well as the salt water intrusion concern. As we see from the notice they provided 2 days notice for those sailing on the 14th. That was on the ports website and I doubt HAL sent a email. I was in the IT field and if I managed my clients communication this way I'd be gone.
  7. We're sailing on the Rotterdam 8/21 but the Amsterdam port schedule now lists the following changes for Rotterdam. MS Rotterdam 14/8 – 21/8 – 28/8 – 11/9 departs from Rotterdam. https://zee.cruiseportamsterdam.nl/ms-rotterdam-vertrekt-uit-rotterdam/ I simply can't understand HAL. They can't change cruise documents. They can't add a splash page for the embarkation change, and apparently an email is beyond their capability.
  8. Curious was Portland considered as an alternative to your flight to Alaska. Hindsight is 20/20 but It's only 3 hours by train to Seattle. This might have improved the her situation and and provided a better outcome. We live near Newark and the weather has been horrible. Newark is number 1 for delays and cancellations for very good reasons. Hope all your luggage arrives.
  9. Got ours 2-3 weeks back. They are dated 2023-05-06. The vendor was able to extend the expiration date on some tests so it might pay to reach out to Abbott Labs directly. mjdenn
  10. The flights were arranged by the cruise line. Our concern was that it might prevent a online check-in when we return from the cruise. We seem to have a tough trip in front of us. Newark (#1 for cancelations), Reykjavik which has a volcano erupting, Amsterdam, and Heathrow. Thanks to all.
  11. We have flights to Amsterdam from Newark. We fly Icelandair to Amsterdam via Reykjavik. Our return flight from Amsterdam (AA/BA codeshare) via Heathrow. Both the trips have seperate record locator codes. When we look at the return flights the outbound flights are visible even though the record locators are different. Does anyone have an idea as to why we are seeing this? Thanks Mjdenn
  12. Passports are issued by the US State Dept. You will need to provide photos and the required identification. Documentation will be returned with the passport. As you're not scheduled to cruise it's the cheapest way to go. The site should provide an estimate of the return time. Regards Mjdenn
  13. We are on the August 21 sailing and are aware that HA moved some prior sailings to Rotterdam. Have any of the August sailings have been moved back to Amsterdam? Thanks Bobbie and Mitcheell
  14. Did you do your health assessment?
  15. Interesting conversation, I'd offer the following. A change of the embarkation port is not the same as a change of itenary. The logistics are completely different both for the ship and the passengers, We've had this happen twice. The first was on a small ship (Royal Clipper). The Harbor Master closed the port that we were in and as a result we were unable to make Lisbon. Star Clipper hired sufficient buses to bus everyone to Lisbon and return the passengers for the next cruise which was the trans atlantic. At the Formula 1 race in Austin they lost thousands of parking spots due to rain. The organisers responded by hiring hundreds of school buses to replace the lost capacity. Finally when Venice banned cruise ships the cruise companies responded by reticketing. As it happens we are sailing on the 8/21 cruise leaving from who knows where.
