We add international calling on our Verizon account every time we travel.  It is $10 per month to make international calls from Mexico.  We call right before we go and then cancel when we return.  We've never had any issues.

If you have the unlimited plan with Verizon, México is included. Here is what they sent me for our cruise leaving this weekend.

I can tell you that snorkeling is possible.  West Bay is beautiful. The reef is incredible just a few feet from shore.  I'm sure Rony will help you make the most of your day.  We have toured with him for many years.

Manawaki is much closer to port.  Johnson's is okay- the sloths are amazing, but it is just a tiny place with small cages.  Manawaki is a gorgeous setting in the rainforest. It would be a better choice for anyone that wants to go to the beach or snorkeling as it is much closer to West Bay. Daniel Johnson's is in the opposite direction.

We know Rony very well, and I I'm very certain he is not adding fees to the admission charges at any location. He charges his fee for transportation, but doesnt add to amounts that sights charge.

I was just confused on the pricing. Was it 15 to see sloths and then another 10:to see monkeys? I understand now it’s just $15 pp to enter the park.

I see some people go through Daniel Johnson, others through Justin's Island Tours.  There will be 5 adults and one teenager .  We don't want to see the shops or the lookout....just the sloths, monkeys and a gorgeous beach.  We are in port 9:30-6:00.  I'd like to spend a few hours at the beach.

We booked a private tour with Rony’s. It was $40 pp for the private driver, then $15 pp for the sloth/monkeys. He takes you to a wildlife park to see the sloths and monkeys. I know there is a whole list of add ons to the private tour on his website. I’m pretty sure west end beach was one of them. He anwsers questions on fb messenger, not always the fastest, but he will.

    Hi,

I have a group of 19 doing a tour with Rony that day too.  I understand the price of admission to that park was $15.00 per person to see monkeys and sloths.  Maybe we will see on the tour!

Are you having him take you anywhere else? I really would also like to snorkel, but when I messaged him, he didn’t answer me if that would be possible.

If you have an old hotel key card you can use it instead of your room key card. You can leave it in the slot - pop it up as you leave the room and push it in as you enter the room. The cabin steward will be happy when he sees one so he doesn't need to use his key.

All lights AND power outlets in the bathroom go off when the bathroom switch is turned off. So the plug in night lights will not work. We use battery operated tea light.

There is a switch for the balcony light somewhere close to the sliding doors - you'll have to look for it.

    Enjoy!!

Isnthere a fan in the bathroom?

  6. We leave next Sunday for our first cruise!!!!! Yay! We booked it a year ago. Can’t believe it’s finally almost here! We are booked in a balcony room on deck 13th. I have a couple questions about the room.

How many plugs are actually in the room and is there an outlet near the bed?

Is there a fan in the bathroom? If so is it possible to leave it on overnight with out all the lights being on? I am so used to the noise of a fan. I ordered a plastic small fan for the trip, but once I got it it seems bigger then I thought and I don’t know if I want to take it.

inseen in some pictures and videos the balcony has a light, are you able to shut this off?

    Thanks!

  7. We have booked a private car for the day with Ronys tours to go see the sloths, monkeys and iguanas. Then to go have lunch on a beach. We leave in 11 days and I wanted to get a better idea on how much money to take for the excursion. I contacted Ronny and now he is saying it is $10 pp to see sloths and then $15 pp to see the moneys. I thought he was taking us to Daniel Johnson’s but he is taking us to manawaki park. I’ve been researching this stop for 6 months now and have never seen that park talked about on here. Now I’m feeling a bit unsure. Has anyone been to it? Does that sound pricey? Should we book with someone else?

  8. I’m not sure where to actually ask this question, and this is the board I frequent the most..

My husband is epileptic. He takes a bunch of meds. We have never traveled farther then Fl. Can you he just keep his meds packed in his normal pill holder that’s done by dats instead of lugging the original bottles. The bottles are big and there are 12 different ones. Also, we’ve only flown twice. He has a small pill holder, that he puts his next dose in. Is he allowed to just take that on the plane without the original bottles? Thanks!

Do you have "enough" credit "just in case" something goes wrong, and you *need* medical care (or some other emergency)?

That's what several of us have been asking about.

Even if you have travel/medical insurance, most policies reimburse you later; you need to front the money at the time of service.

Or some weird reason to need to get home sooner, with last minute flights being much more expensive, and from "who knows where"...

    GC

We do not, and unfortunately we leave in 14 days so kind of late now. We do have a savings acct, so I suppose that would be our back up. This is our first cruise, I guess we didn’t really think about a high limit cc card, because we don’t use them in our normal life. We do plan on taking a larger sum of cash. I guess in all my research for this trip, I read bring cash..but nothing said anything about a large cc.

  10. I think I will call our TA and NCL and see what they say. I just checked with my husband and our cc is actually $700, we had just put the hotel for the night before on it, but that will get paid in the next couple days, so we’ll be back to $700.

Have you prepaid everything? Daily service charge? Shore ex? Beverage? Dining? Shows?

if so, then your on board charges will be zero and your card may be ok. Not sure how much the run as an initial authorization on your card.

If you set up a cash account from the start, the cruise line asks for $300 per person at checkin.

What is shorex? We have only booked free shows and only plan on doing the 3 specialty dining that’s included except maybe margaritaville. We have $150 of obc, so we planned to put most that towards the service charge and then pay cash for the rest at the end.

  12. Going on my first cruise ever in 20 days...and I have a couple questions...

    Ladies....

How many swimsuits do you take? We love to swim, so I’m sure we will be near the pool or at the beach on almost all our stops. Right now I have 2 swimsuits, but was thinking of getting one more.

How many “nice outfits” do you take? I know you don’t have to dress up, but we booked 3 specialty dining nights, and I think I want to dress up for those.

    thanks!

One year I realized that I had forgot to pack the cameras.  I had to buy one off the ship that was waterproof to use while snorkeling.  It didn't turn out very well at all.  There wasn't a very large selection nor was I able to do any research or read reviews.  The camera was ok but it stopped working after using it in the water a few times.  It turned out to be a common problem with the model and not the specific camera I bought, I found out about it after the cruise was over.  It was on a RCL cruise not Norwegian.  The photo shop manager originally gave me a hassle about returning it but when I brought it back a second time and demonstrated the failure, they gave me my money back.  Now I just start a list on my phone of things I want to pack as I think about it and run threw the list as I start to pack a few days before to avoid that type of situation again.

What dates are you sailing? My husband and I will be on the getaway Jan 6. We’re from Taylor, Mi!
