  1. I was just about to transfer and the TA said that Holland America wont let her add the big box perks on because we have past a casino discount fare and the free gratuities? Its with in the 2 months of booking and before final payment

No limit prior to final payment,  but you run the risk of forgoing any perquisites attached to your booking,  should they not be combinable.  Example - my booking has pre-paid grats stacked on top of a discounted cabin rate -- currently the cabin I am in is 120$pp lower than what I booked at, but if I were to re-rate, I would lose the pre-paid hotel service charge, which is a 406$ value.

    Scott.

We dont have any perks this time. Last time we had “free” drinks

  3. Anyone know? So i noticed my cruise i booked for spring break has dropped by $100. I am well before my paid in full date. I am going to call for a price adjustment. Is there a limit to the times i can do this? I know sunwing ( Canadian land vacation tour operator) you can only do it once with their price guarantee. So far i have our price down to $1318 Canadian for 2 adults 1 child.🎉

If there is going to be only your teenager and you -- go for the spring break cruise so that you can have the full ocean view and the Lido cabana.

If there are 3 of you -- you will have to book the family cabana in the retreat area which will cost more.

We had 4 in a lido cabana last march when we booked it they had all of us listed

  5. We came from Disney to HAL my kids were 13and 16 unfortunately club Hal in the loft on both ships we tried sucked. They said there were to many teens so most of the time even though there was a schedule of activities they were supposed to do, they just licked the loft doors and told them to hang out in the basketball court. The younger groups when we went by always seemed to be watching movies.

  6. For us we are getting the drink plan with the explore 4 plan, the difference between the same room without explorer4 was $250 so $125 per person , that gives us the SBP and the pinnacle dinner, so it was a good deal for us, our last cruise we got the quench package and would totally do that again.  We did keep checking the price right up until the final payment date

All I was saying was that the CURRENT website says:

"...Signature Beverage Package allows you to select from a variety of wine, beer, spirits, cocktails (including non-alcoholic), sodas, bottled water (sparkling 330ml or still 500ml) & coffee! Includes any beverage priced at $9.00 or lower (up to 15 beverages per day)."

I don't doubt that people have had other experiences. I never managed to drink more than 15 beverages, mixed between alcoholic and non, in one day to test either theory. If I manage next month, I will report back. Otherwise, have fun quibbling about it.

The email quoted about unlimited non alcoholic drinks is the exact one i got from guest services, my nephew got the exact same one when he emailed, someone else said they got the exact same one, the one we got seems more of a pre writted auto response, there is a new beverage director someone got a response right from his that was very similarly worded

I am sorry.....I am missing something.   Your complaining because you have to pay for 2.    I got that.    However. YOU+1 son+1 son = 3 people  and your mad because  you paid for 2.        Yet there are 3 of you, right ?        I dont get it....

Im assuming the boys are in a cabin, and shes in her own cabin, so she would pay single supplement for her cabin

I don’t understand why there is all this indignation.  Who would dream of ordering two main courses?

A teenager who eats more then 4 bites if protien, who doesnt want to go to multiple venues to eat and likes a sit down dinner, and exploring new foods

HAL is a aggressively going after a younger demographic now and trying to move Carnival passenger up to higher priced cruise lines in the family.

The only reason we are on HAL next week it was $1700 cheaper then carnival and $2100 cheaper then Royal Caribbean and $3200 cheaper then disney

    • I just received this from Holland America Customer Service regarding the 15 drink limit. It seems like there is no consistent answer to this question? I guess we will find out when we are onboard.

        Dear ###,

Thank you for your recent correspondence with Holland America Line. We apologize that an unexpected increase in email inquiries resulted in a delayed response time.

Both alcoholic and non-alcohic beverages count toward the daily limit of 15 for the Signature or Signature Elite beverage packages. So, for example: if you ordered 14 bottled waters in one day, you could have only 1 complimentary alcoholic drink that same day. Further drinks/beverages on the same day would be charged to your room's account in full.

Thank you for contacting Holland America Line. Please feel free to contact us if we may be of additional assistance or visit us online.   We look forward to welcoming you onboard in the near future!

        Kind Regards,

        Lisa

On another note, I've noticed that people on Cruise Critic refer to the main course as an entrée. In Canada and most of Europe an entrée is what one would call an appetizer or starter

Might be a regional thing in canada, we are in Alberta, grew up in BC and an entree has always been the main

We bring a huge bottle of Coppertone, and also the individually wrapped wipes.  The wipes go in our day bags, just in case we forget to apply it  before we go out.  We also bring the insect repellent wipes for the room and our day bags.

We only pack carry on so we are limited to the 100ml size and one litre bag to fit it all in, so we look for things that dont count as part of the liquid allotment
