  1. Thank you so much!

dcbiker97 Regarding take out sushi, can I preorder for pickup or do I have to go into the restaurant to order? No problem with paying i know it is extra.

Also, I have the App going now and on the two last nights Luminae says "Venue Closed." Is this accurate? Do they let very large groups reserve the entire restaurant? Should I reserve dinner in another restaurant or just wait and see what appears later?

Thanks for your patience, I am a little anxious as this is my very first vacation since May 2019. Out of practice lets say.

  2. First, let me apologize if these issues have been previously addressed, I have searched the boards and am finding conflicting information. This is my first time in a suite, picked one up very last minute for the May 24 Alaska Northbound.

It appears that Retreat folks have priority boarding but I am not sure what that means.  Is it like airline priority boarding except it is not announced? If I arrive at Vancouver BC port and there is a long line do I need to wait in that line or can I go inside and find the Retreat check in area? I want to do the correct thing here. Usually we just enjoy a nice brunch while everyone else boards then arrive around 1:30. The terminal is usually slow at that time.

Also, I have conflicting information regarding the room service menus. When I booked the cruise the Celebrity Agent put me on hold to ask if room service breakfast can be ordered from Luminae. She told me I could indeed order eggs benedict for room service.  Was she incorrect? What room service menus will we have access to? Can we order Sushi for room service? Takeout?

Also, it looks like there is not a table in the Skye Suite, is there some way the cabin stewards make in-room dining happen? Bring table in from balcony, etc?

Thank you very much for your help, reading cruise critic board is very helpful.

Best answered by this analogy. Do you go to the Maine seashore to eat fresh out of the sea lobster or Omaha steaks? Do you go to Omaha to eat lobster?

Oceania is a great cruise line, however when going to Tahiti and FP, PG is your answer followed by Windstar.

We did the 12 day Marina cruise to the FP. It was delightful. However, seeing many of the things the PG cruisers did in comparison, plus the huge difference in quality of speakers, PG wins hands down.

Are you a traveler or a cruiser?

We are travelers, so thank you for your response.  I just read that PG has great children's programs and that scared me a bit.  Visions of screaming children went through my head.

  4. Hello Cruisers,

First thing, hope you are all well.  Second is a question: Which one of the above-mentioned cruise lines is less likely to have children onboard?  This cruise will be our 25th anniversary trip so we want it to be extra special.  We are looking at May or October 2023 to replace our 10/26/2020 cruise we cancelled in March 2020.

Thank you in advance for your assistance and hopefully we will see a return to a more "normal" world this year sometime.  And please forgive me if this topic has been addressed elsewhere.

  5. Have any of you had trouble cancelling upcoming Italy tours?  I canceled our cruise for next October on the Celebrity Millennium and attempted to cancel a tour from BellaItalia tours out of Civitavecchia.  Even though I am well within the time frame to cancel I was told that an Italian Covid law forbids them from giving me any refund.  Just wanted to know if anyone has experienced this and if you know the validity of the claim.

Thank you for your time and stay well.

  6. Thank you all for your advice, I really do appreciate your input.

We both remember the soups fondly and I am happy to hear they are still good. I will ask the server for recommendations and I will make a reservation for dinner in Tuscan Grille but wish our ship had Murano instead.  Both of us like almost every type of food including different cuisines from around the globe, we just want it prepared correctly. My expectations are not very high as I live in downtown Seattle two blocks from Pike Place and I know I am supremely spoiled with all the wonderful food and restaurants.

My son and I cruised Ruby Princess last year and the food in the main dining room was horrible.  Share was amazing and their burger bar was good as well.  Also, their pizza was wonderful, thin crust Italian style.

I am confident that we will enjoy our cruise and find some items to our liking.

  7. Dear Cruise Experts,

We need your sage advice.  Haven't cruised Celebrity since 1998.  We were on the Galaxy and the food was really good.  Have been reading reviews of the decline of food and am worried so I would like to know if there are some safe choices.  There must some reliable choices in the main dining room and also is Tuscan Grille worth the money spent.  Has anyone had the branzino?

We depart on the 24th and hope to have your advice to guide us,

  8. BudgetQueen,

Thank you for your honest input, I do appreciate that.

I chose the Skagway train trip because my son and I absolutely loved this excursion last May.  Interesting train and history, I had forgotten how small it really was so thanks for that reminder. Truly beautiful mountains and the numerous waterfalls were spectacular.

Based on your information regarding the crab and Hoonah I will keep the George Inlet crab feast.  69.00 pp for all you can eat Dungeness crab is a bargain.

Keeping the Sawyer Glacier Tracy Arm tour and also the Hoonah small boat whale tour but I have decided to cancel the Major Marine Kenai Fjords tour and look at other options.  May choose a smaller tour operator.  There is the possibility we may go more low-key for that last day prior to the train to Anchorage, visiting Exit Glacier, a nice walk along the shore, do a little shopping and have a good fresh halibut meal.

Whatever we choose, we will enjoy ourselves very much.

  9. Greetings,

Cruising May 24th from Vancouver, one-way to Seward.  This is my second cruise to AK, the first was to Glacier Bay with my son on the Princess Ruby as I live in Seattle and it departs from here.  Had so much fun.  I have brain block at this point, no matter how much research I do I cannot seem to form the answers I require.

I have the following excursions booked but really want to know if I am repeating experiences or could eliminate something.  Your infinite knowledge will be most appreciated!

    1.  Millennium arrives Juneau at 7 am, have the Sawyer Glacier tour booked with Adventure Bound that departs at 8:15, very close from ship berth,

    2.  Skagway Yukon train booked,

    3.  Ketchikan George Inlet crab feast booked on our own with bus lodge transport, (69.00 per person) really loved their crab from last cruise, we did the fight plane back to ship that time,

    4.  Icy Strait Pt., 3 hour whale watch with small boat, Glacier Wind, and

    5.  Seward Major Marine 6 hour Kenai Fjords tour before train departure to Anchorage.

    Here are my questions:

We are taking the train from Seward to Anchorage so is the Skagway train really worth it?

Do you think taking the Kenai Fjords tour after taking the Sawyer Glacier tour is worth it?   Are three excursions on the water too many?  My husband gets bored very easily. There is plenty to keep busy in Seward before the train, Exit Glacier, waterfront walks, halibut lunch, etc.

Should we get fresh crab in Icy Strait Point and skip the George Inlet crab feast? I mention Icy Strait as we could use the crab lunch to help fill time there.

Fellow cruisers, what would you eliminate from that list? Or what would you replace with?

Thank you so VERY much for your time and assistance.

  11. Thank you for your response, I appreciate your time.

Celebrity Millennium does not offer the Sawyer Glacier tour.   Allen Marine does and mostly contracts with cruise ships, they were willing to reserve for me but their time did not work for the 28th.  Adventure Bound has told me I should be fine but I am skeptical as it really is close.  AB's departure point isn't too far from the docking marina.  So, I may go ahead and book knowing that I may lose my money.  Visiting Mendenhall with hikes as the backup plan.

  12. Good Day,

As of yet, I do not know the assigned berth for the Millennium in Juneau for May 28th.  AS seems to be the berth she is usually assigned.  I need help from all you experts out there.  If she docks at 7:00 a.m. and the Adventure Bound Sawyer Glacier tour leaves at 8:15, can I make it in time?  What time will Celebrity let people off the ship?

Thank you very much for your help, doing the Sawyer Glacier tour has been a dream of mine.
