  1. Jacqui, We have had to cancel the following: Eurodam - 13-Apr-24 - 21 day Panama Canal HAL4NOW - Thanks for all you do; hope all is well with you.
  2. Thanks; Mohs was a great success and near the back of my neck. Getting someone else to shovel is not an option. At 67 I am one of the youth in our town. I did take it easy by only shoveling our driveway and walkways and the driveway and walkway across the street for an older single lady with major blood pressure issues. I usually shovel a few more locations. The alien flying saucer is just one of the neighbor’s propane tanks.
  3. Meanwhile, just up the hill in Skykomish, we got about eight inches of snow. I had Mohs surgery on Tuesday morning this week and the surgeon told me no strenuous exercise for two weeks. I said I would like that but it all depended on how much snow we got. Here is a picture from our dining room this morning.
  4. My DW and I visited Baie-Conrad September 5th on the Zaandam. The locals pronounced it “bay como”. We just did a walk about and really enjoyed our time there.
  5. When we were working on developing a trail near Skykomish, one of the USFS requirements for that trail development was to remove invasive/non-native plants. Two of the plants they were specifically concerned about: Forget-Me-Not and Stinky Bob.
  6. Setting up a wake up call is really easy; just push a few buttons on the phone and then the phone becomes your alarm.
  7. Since my name is Anthony (Tony) I was hoping to get to St. Anthony on our last cruise on the Zaandam but it was not to be. Here are the pictures I took from the ship.
  8. Did the rain begin soon enough to give you an excuse for not mowing the lawn?
  9. About half way through the immigration line. Stretching the experience by doing an excursion with airport transfer.
  10. Zaandam is pulling up to the pier; passing the Silversea Shadow. We are checked in for our afternoon flight and headed for the Lido for breakfast soon.
  11. Almost 1 AM and things don’t look promising. Not sure we will make Bar Harbor at all today.
  12. Seaborne Quest is leaving Halifax. Zaandam work continues at almost eleven. Three dockworkers loosened the front ropes from the Zaandam and then just reattached them.
  13. When we began our cruise on August 23rd, there were two large cylindrical parts being stored on the promenade deck. These parts were new. Tonight, both of those parts have been replaced with old rusty parts. The divers are still working under the Zaandam at almost ten o’clock Halifax time.
  14. Thanks , Jake, we were in the Hyperion Knight show and didn’t hear an update announcement. We are scheduled to meet for our HAL excursion at 8:45 tomorrow. Hopefully they will be able to reschedule it.
  15. Had a great time today in Halifax. We dodged most of the rain showers by jumping back on the HoHo bus or ducking into a building. The fog continues to roll in and out. Just seconds between shots of George’s Island from a deck chair on the promenade. Went to the art museum with Maude’s house and art (and a lot more), walked the public gardens, stopped at the Fairview Cemetery and walked the area around the Titanic markers, had some Cow’s ice cream and Smoke’s Poutine, stopped into the Basilica, and walked the boardwalk . We had gone to the Atlantic Maritime Museum and the Citadel on the way up to Montreal a little more than a week ago (in the pouring rain). Halifax is a wonderful city to explore.
  16. We are aboard the Halifax Hop-On Hop-Off bus. Much better weather than on the way up to Montreal from Boston; foggy, but not pouring rain.
  17. We planned to use the hop on hop off bus to get the lay of the land in St. John’s. Got to the purchase point before 9:30 and bought tickets for the earliest one available (11:00). We walked around and did a little sightseeing for about an hour and then went back to the starting point for the Ho-Ho. When the bus showed up at 11:00 no one got off from the 9:00 run after riding it all the way around. Only eight more people out of the forty tickets sold were able to join the bus. We opted to get our money back and then walked up the steep St. John’s hills and stairs to the Basilica of Saint John the Baptist, The Anglican Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist, the zero mile marker for the Trans Canada Highway, and a few other sites before returning to the ship for a late lunch where we were greeted by the same Newfoundland dog that greeted @Crazy For Cats After lunch I went back into town and walked up to Signal Hill, walked a trail and then back to the ship. Good day overall.
  18. Ship seems to be stopped in tendering location. Temperature is in the high forties and the rain has stopped for now. Oops! Captain is announcing that today’s port is canceled due to weather.
  19. Wonderful day in Corner Brook. Warm with some clouds and no rain. Went on the highlights tour and then walked around.
  20. We took the shuttle to town and toured through two churches and found a couple trails. Back on ship at the Dive-In.
  21. Be Late For Something Day could be dangerous if you are returning to the ship after all aboard time. On our excursion yesterday a couple in their late eighties didn’t make it back to the bus on time. We waited an extra half hour while a few people were out in the streets of Quebec looking for them. Eventually the tour guide had to make the call to return to the ship. Thankfully the couple found their way back to the ship. We are just now docking in Baie-Comaeu; the sun is breaking through the marine layer and it looks like it is going to be a beautiful day. I enjoyed walking around the full promenade this morning; Watching the ripples from the ship while hearing the deep sound of fog horn.
  22. Over a seven hour excursion today that included Montmorency Falls. Beautiful weather and looking forward to more fun places to explore over the next several days.
  23. There is a ship docked near the Zaandam in Montreal that might look familiar to many of you. I am pretty sure that the Amera used to be the Prinsendam.
