  1. I’m on the Discovery Princess as we speak and I regret to inform you fellow cigar smokers that Churchill Cigar lounge has now been replaced with a Video Arcade. I’m extremely disappointed especially since I got off and purchased a box of cigars. I hope this doesn’t go fleet wide.

    Great, thanks.

You sure?  We did that one earlier this year and I thought they ended at Midnight

and started again at like 6:30am.... we stayed onboard, but thats what I recall.🤷‍♂️

I hope they run all night, even if it’s reduced to one tender.

They run all night. Been several times, and had tenders running all night long. People go out to dinner, nightclubs, etc - and tenders go all night. Reduced schedule midnight to 6am but they're still going

Great, thanks for all the info.

  3. On 11/29 I’ll be on the 5 night Cabo San Lucas cruise on the Discovery Princess. My question is since the ship is staying overnight in Cabo will they be running the tender boats all night or at what time will they stop? I ask because I’m considering booking a night at a Cabo hotel in case the tenders stop too early and I stay out too late. I’ve had overnight stays in Cabo and Puerto Vallarta with Carnival and with both I do recall getting back on the ships quite late in the night, I just can’t find any info on it with Princess. Thanks

Same here. I’ve seen it do this before but it usually works out fine on boarding day. We are boarding Discovery on Saturday. If that’s your sailing, are you joining our meet and greet Sunday 11am in Take Five?

I guess we’ll just chalk it up to a glitch on the app, hopefully it won’t delay me too much at check in. I’ll check out the Meet&Greet thread now.

  5. I input all the required information into the Princess app some time ago and was given Green Lane. Upon checking my app today I see I’ve been put in Blue Lane and it shows as if there’s missing personal information and documents, but when I click on that tab it shows everything is completed. Any ideas what’s going on? Anyone else have this issue? The cruise is on the Discovery Princess in a few days.

I'm in the same boat, friend had to cancel.  We leave Tomorrow.

Decided I'm going anyway, and will wing it.

I'm a masker indoors, and tend to avoid MDR anyway.

Will probably do most of my dining on deck, grill etc.  Avoiding CG and specialty.

Theres also good ole Room service.  Pizza on the patio... lol

You might make a couple friends in the casino....when youre Winning!

    Thats the hope.

Sometimes Trivia is a good way to  meet a few folks daily.

Good Luck and I hope you have a good time anyway!

Youre Not alone, theres other folks in that situation.

I usually make quite a few “friends” in the casino when they see I’m wagering slightly more lol.

Are they charging you a fee to travel solo?  I have the casino offer too.

No, I only paid the taxes and port fees for one.

Yes, you should go!  Is this one of the Celebrity Solstice cruises?  I’m doing the Mexican Riviera itinerary in April.  I spend a lot of my time in the casino, too, but the rest of the time I enjoy my balcony, the solarium, the spa, a cocktail, a cappuccino at Cafe al Bacio - as busy or lazy as you want to be!

No, this is on the Discovery Princess. It’s a very lucrative casino marketing offer that requires me to sail before March 15th to unlock an even greater offer.

I did 8 days solo in November over Thanksgiving at it was awesome. Drink, gamble, eat, nap in no particular order, repeat. You'll love it.

Absolutely! More drinking and gambling than anything else.

I've taken several week-long solo cruises that included ports in Mexico, Belize, etc. What surprised me most was the amount of relaxation (read: falling asleep with a book on a lounger facing the ocean) I didn't even know I needed. Although I made (and kept) some great friends, most of my time has been restful. It was wonderful to go where I wanted, eat when/what I wanted, do what I wanted. I hope you're able to go and get what you need out of the trip.

It will be nice not having to wait on anyone when I want to go and eat or go to a show.

I have been cruising solo for 20 years an I love it😀😃😃

I am on a cruiseship as I type this reply and it is for 11 nights. I haven't been on a 7 night cruise in.....well I don't remember.

The joys of retirement, longer sailings!

Go on your cruise and just enjoy it all🙂

    Have fun.

Go! Go try it and then you'll know how you feel about it. If you hate it, then you know. But if you like it, you can start to explore some adventurous iteneraries in the future.

I find the longer trips have a whole different tone. You might do the shows and special  food and venues and all the things the first few days in a flurry, and then still have half a week left to just relax, unwind, and spend tiime with the amazing views and wonderfully nice lounges around the ship. Longer trips mean you can slow down and let the day unfold, no worries or hurry. It's a great time to slow down.

Most of my time will be spent in the casino so I will gamble at my own pace and have a great time.

Thanks for all the replies. Maybe I’ll see some of you on the tables or machines, good luck!

  8. It’s been quite some time since I’ve posted in these forums, but better late than never. I have a 7 day Princess cruise booked for March sailing to Mexico and am having second thoughts because the friends that had booked with me have canceled. Work and family obligations are getting in the way of anyone else coming along with me so I must cruise solo. I’ve done a 3 day solo to Mexico and that was a blast, but I just feel strange going for a whole 7 days alone. If it weren’t for the very generous casino offer I would’ve already canceled. Thoughts? Suggestions?

Sometimes players will get offers for highly discounted or even free cruises in the future. Sometimes these offers come with some free $$$ to wager.

It is difficult to know what causes these offers to get made. Sometimes they go to  people who are frequent players and sometimes mysteriously to someone who only went to the casino one time and did not wager much.

I have received generous offers from Carnival and I ignored them mainly because of the food and atmosphere on Carnival, however the latest offer I received for $1500 in FreePlay and discounted room rates is almost too good to pass up.

I find the casino host to be pretty generous with offers of free drinks in the casino.  Then, on my last cruise, we were given some kind of card on a lanyard for free drinks in the casino while playing.

As to reserving tables or opening tables upon request:  No, I don't think that happens.

As to craps, I have seen a few good hands, 20+ rolls.  But they are even less common on board than on land.

Sounds similar to the way Carnival does it. I'll make sure to introduce myself to the casino hosts as soon as I get on.

Hi and welcome to CC.  No, drinks are not at all forthcoming.  This is my experience over many, many cruises:  If you absolutely park your butt on a stool at a table game and pretty much stay there for hours every day, you may on Day 3 or 4 be friendly enough with the pit boss that you could suggest that you want a drink;  sometimes the dealer will call him/her over for you. Otherwise, PCL policy doesn't seem to provide drinks.  In fact, servers are relatively rare and will probably need to be paged over to serve you (with that weird kiss sound they make).  I've always thought PCL is really dropping the ball in this area.  2.  I highly doubt the boss will reserve or open a table for you due to staffing considerations (never seen it done). They don't seem to care, IMO.  3. Smoking is a huge issue in the slot area;  not so much in the pit.  The worst part is the smoking at the slots at the entrance --- you'll be met by a huge blue cloud.  Smoke-free nights are advertised in the Patter in small print - mainly formal nights. 4. Not sure about Cabo but I think the tenders have a last run and then begin again in the morning.  Another thing about the casino:  you'll need to present your cruise card every single time, even if you just move one table away.  You'll sit down and say "Room Charge (or CRC for those in the know) $300 (or whatever) and slide your card to them.  Oh, and in our experience, we have NEVER seen a hot craps table on PCL.  I almost never play anymore because of that.   It is very very weird!  But what I do enjoy is all the dealers (not PCL employees) are cross-trained in all games, inc craps.  If you're friendly to them, they are right back to you, but they rarely smile!

Thanks for all the info. If there isn't many other incentives for Princess casino players It'll definitely be a deciding factor for future cruises. I'll let you know how it goes.

  11. So I've been lurking on these boards for quite some time and now I've finally decided to make my first topic since I have an upcoming cruise in the very near future and I have some unanswered questions. First off I am a gambler so a good amount of time is going to be spent in the casino and when I'm gambling I like to drink. When I sailed with Carnival the past two cruises I earned free drinks in the casino for the duration of the cruise just off the first few hours of play, does Princess offer free drinks in the casino based on play? Also, How likely will Floormen or Pit Bosses oblige my requests to reserve tables or open tables for certain games? Last question about the casino, is it fully non-smoking with the exception of the cigar room? Lastly, the ship is staying overnight in Cabo on 2/20 and I'd like to know if the tenders run all night, can I board the ship at any time? That's it for now, thanks in advance for all the help and we'll see you on the high seas.
