We have cruised many times from NY. Once on a January sailing,  daughter and friends in hot tub and pool first day, once in June decks were closed due to high winds. It all depends on mother nature

The best things in Costa Maya are

1) the Native choice tour company to chaccobean Ruins- great day and tour

2) wonderful port area with shopping, bars  food,  large pool...

3) the Malecon (boardwalk) is just a $4 cab ride. Beach, bars  restaurants,  shopping , massages. Wonderful experience

We stayed at the Wyndham ramada inn miami springs.  Clean and comfortable with great attached sports bar/restaurant.  Pricing was good.

You can even go to the main dining room and the buffet on the same night, and then the pizza place, or hot dog stand!

Cozumel = island marketing tours

Honduras = Victor Bodden tours

Costa Maya = the Native choice tour company to the chaccobean Ruins    or   taxi to the Malecon (boardwalk) with beach, bars, restaurants,  massages, stores....    or the port area has bug pool, stores, restaurants,  bars...

We have done all if these, numerous times

On Anthem there are 2 dining rooms (American icon and silk) that are used for MTD. They are across from each other, and you can choose either one  or same one nightly, depending on where you would like to go, or availability.  We tried both, then stayed in silk with the same waiter.

Cruised 4x on MSC and have seen people denied admission into MDR on formal nights due to their clothing, and being asked to either change or dine in the buffet

That is something that has always amazed me too. Many times staff has approached us, remembering us from previous sailings.  Amazing memories

The app has our Allure August 25th cruise menu up, and it looks pretty accurate based on our Anthem cruise 3 months ago.

In April on the Anthem we did an overnight in Bermuda and then a day in Boston. Was a good cruise.

After 36 NCL cruises we tried MSC and love them. Cruised 4x on MSC. Cruising MSC is more like old world cruising. We love the beautiful elegant ships, fantastic food, and  their phenomenal shows. We found the staff to be attentive and professional . Sailed RC 2x with 3rd booked for August,  and enjoy them too. MSC more like RC than NCL

Personally I think it's a great idea, and I will be joining. I sailed on MSC Divina thru Hurricane Irma and I would love to share our experiences as well as read about others. Mother nature will always be the winner, and she must be respected at all times

On a 7 day RC, there are 2 formal nights, usually first sea day, and 5th or 6th night.

No formal nights on NCL,  very very casual dressing now, even in specialty restaurants.

Wow, we sailed on 3 different MSC ships, seaside 2x, and all the food was great. Divina had the best pizza ever, and we are from NY where the pizza is good. 

So sorry it's not good on your sailing.

We were on the Armonia for New Years, and the meet and greet was basically the same as Divina and Seaside. Officers show up, drinks, large cake...

Best spot on Alaska cruise is out on an open deck. Too much to see from both sides. You need to be able to move from side to side to see everything. We usually get balcony,  but not for Alaska. We save $$ for excursions ( very expensive)and we spend alot of time on outside decks, going from starboard to port. View from balcony too limited for us.

Alaska is mother Nature at her finest
