Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. We've also done both, and agree that destination matters. We used our balcony a lot on our Med (Greece and Italy) sailing and in Norway, and were glad that we had the space. That said, we've found that the stateroom attendants on Deck 7 seem to be just a little more attentive than on a different deck aft. Not that we've ever gotten bad service on Holland; the crew is amazing. It just seems that the teams handling the suite deck are a little more relaxed and available.
  2. We’ll be on the Eclipse starting in February from Sydney and are interested in your impressions of the ship. We know she was scheduled for upgrades that didn’t happen due to Covid, and are wondering how things are going on board. Have a wonderful cruise-sounds like an amazing itinerary!
  3. On our January cruise we upgraded from SBP because our two preferred wines were on the Elite package. Last week we sailed on Nieuw Statendam, and decided not to upgrade. We were glad that we made that decision as neither of the wines we liked on the Elite package were available. We were told one had run out in the past week or two but one hadn't been available for at least three months due to supply chain issues. If you are just upgrading for wine, I'd check to make sure what you want is actually available on the ship first.
  4. I am Gluten free and my experience varies based on the restaurant. For the main dining room, my experience on the Westerdam in the fall of 2019 was exactly like how you reference Princess. I received the menu the evening prior and made my selections. On Rotterdam this past January, we had a combination of travel agent and Holland promotions and ended up in specialty dining four nights. There I went by the indications on the menu and confirmed with the waiter. On the Rotterdam I was pleasantly surprised by all of the GF options in the buffet and even at Dive In and the NY deli. They had GF pizza, bread for sandwiches and hamburger buns. Enjoy!
  5. We sailed in the Pinnacle Suite on the Rotterdam a few months ago and loved having the butler pantry. The coffee maker is a little complicated, but we got the hang of it quickly, and really enjoyed having cappuccino and specialty coffees anytime we wanted! The refrigerator was stocked but check with your butler on what’s included. We didn’t pay for bottled water, but we didn’t drink the wine in the refrigerator so I’m not sure if it’s an extra cost. Enjoy it-we absolutely loved our experience!!
