What do people think of the crab feast? I decided to cancel misty fjords as i was nervous about little plane and i didn't want that hanging over my head. I do still have bering fisherman's tour booked. The alternate would be to go to the crab feast and the tongass museum. Not sure. So much to do in Katchikan.
Thanks thats why i’m reconsidering this excursion. I went to a chinese restaurant and had 1 curry crab leg and i swear i spent 10-15 minutes picking at 1 crab leg. It was a really positive experience though. They never gave one of those cracker things which made it difficult.
I found this thread https://boards.cruisecritic.co.uk/topic/2845846-ketchikan-crab-feast-no-longer-all-you-can-eat/page/2/ so sounds like its still all you can eat but very negative comment at end. Sorry for unneeded thread.
Just curious if they ever do a good shore excursion sale closer to the date of the cruise in order to get rid of inventory? There is a not bad sale that just started on my alaskan cruise but the cruise is 3 months out.
Thanks. This is great. I can go to Burger Queen in Ketchikan and Deckhand Dave in Juneau. I'm on Royal Caribbean and food isn't supposed to be great so nice to have some inexpensive options. How about some ice cream?
Just some general comparisons the misty fjords is a smaller 6 seater plane while taku lodge plane is a 10 person plane. Taku lodge costs more although when you factor in its 3 hours i don’t think cost per hour it costs more. Taku lodge flight you see glaciers while misty fjords you don’t.
Thanks for this post. I forgot about tipping and as a canadian will have to make sure to have some small US bills handy. I think the amount i tip may depend on what i thought of my guide.
I've seen the other thread. I'm debating as i have a 60.00 cdn (about 45US) tour booked to raptor centre and nature walk. I'd missed the bears though. Were there lines when you had to enter at raptor centre and fortress of the bear?
Thanks. Thats good to know for juneau. I may try burger queen or annabelle’s in ketchikan. I’d be going at 6:15 so height of dinner period so i’m concerned about the wait although my cruise ship doesn’t leave until 10.
I just read this article so maybe there will be some this year

Its seems like there can be long waits at restaurants so i’m thinking a food truck would be better. I’m going end of june. I would prefer to go in ketchikan.
