  1. Andy Wall Street prefers RCL over CCL.

With a $1.00 per share annual Dividend for each company based on today's closing price RCL has a 63% price premium they are both in the same industry With the same payout and industry the price per share should be much closer in price.

Wall Street not you or me perceives RCL is a much better run Company

I believe RCL upped their dividend.

  2. Aaaack!!! Stu, stop stop stop!!

Don't stifle those efforts, as they could potentially turn beneficial to some of us. ;)

There was that gleeful post of his on 3/14/13, followed by one even more gleeful on 3/20/13 with a neener neener to RCCL.

One month later (4/17/13) there was an interesting 'change of events' in the Wall Street hood, and it progressed non-stop from there.

Someone was totally successful in adding enough biting comments to get that thread locked down, but it is copied in its entirety for historical (and amusement) purposes.

    So, please, shhhhhhhhhhhhh :) . :)

    .

Don't forget the post ,also on 3/14/13, about how CCL pays a significantly larger dividend. Even that has changed.

  3. I just read a news website that said Holland America changed one of their itineraries, but Carnival, NCL and Royal Caribbean do not have any ships going to the affected areas.

CCL, RCL, and NCL all have divisions that go to African ports. But the Carnival, Royal, and Norwegian brands do not.

  4. Royal was off $3.87 (5.87%)

    CCL was off $2.16 (5.47%)

Apparently Royal doesn't know they own Pullmantur because their comment was they don't port in Africa.

    I have permission.

You forgot after hours trading. RCL $3.46 (5.24%).

Pullmantur doesn't have any ships docking there in October, so RCL doesn't have to make any changes yet.

  5. Nothing to do with smoking or Uncle Micky or even Carnival Cruise Lines.

Yep, because of ebola and Seabourn rerouting a ship or two.

RCL dropped like a bad transmission and they don't even stop in Africa.

Just thought I would point out a couple of things. First, RCL ended up losing less percentage wise than CCL. Second, Pullmamtur, a division of RCL does in fact stop in Africa.

BTW, exactly what do you have permission for?

  6. I'm a little bit shocked by some of the reactions to this post....not least to the repeated mentioning of T&Cs relating to a 'refund' if cancelled etc.

I currently have 2 RCI cruises booked and for 1 of them I have needed to have repeated contact with the call centre in order to book entertainment etc because of issues with their online system. To be honest, contacting them has been a nightmare, I have repeatedly been put on hold and then literally forgotten, on one occasion for more than 30 minutes before the phone simply disconnected. I can see from the forums that there are others who have experienced the same.

Now, there are probably no 'rules' or 'T&Cs' that relate to the experience of a customer over the phone, yet we also all accept that there is 'good' and there is 'bad' and that bad service should not be applauded whereas good service either in the absence of or beyond the 'T&Cs' is evidence of a customer focussed business.

This customer wanted to re-instate a holiday they had cancelled literally less than 48 hours before.

The other day I replaced an electronic item for a customer that they had clearly broken despite it absolutely not being part of our T&Cs. And I did it as a 'goodwill' gesture which any decent company will absolutely do in some circumstances in order to demonstrate exceptional customer service.

Its absolutely irrelevant what the T&Cs state, they are there to protect the company from customers taking the P*ss - they should not be there to allow a company to avoid providing exceptional customer service and worse, they should not lower customers expectations so far that we actually applaud their total unwillingness to be flexible or reasonable in an exceptional case.

Just curious does the company you work for give every employee the authority to give away hundreds of dollars with out any oversight? If so, let me know what company you work for.

I'm not saying that RCL shouldn't look into re-instating the OP's cruise. But, it shouldn't be automatic just because some customer calls with a sob story.

  7. I think part of the issue is that from other posts on CC the rules seem to be bent in quite a lot of cases. The op asked for help, got some quite extreme reactions and hasn't been back. For all we know they have given up, in your words "taken the consequences" and will likely never want to cruise with RCI again. Perhaps many of their family, friends and acquaintances will feel the same given the circumstances.

Reinstating the cruise is more than a nice gesture to the OP. It would be quite likely to have a positive commercial effect, not only from the OP but also from others who observe "WoW" customer care.

What you're not getting is that the OP needs to contact the resolutions department. How long would any company stay in business if all their customer service reps automatically gave refunds when ever someone called with a sob story. I'm not saying the OP is making up their issue, but if a company became known for believing ever story and bending the rules accordingly, they may as well not have any rules to start with.

  8. Would much rather have an IMAX than friggin bumper cars. BUMPER CARS??? Who was the brainiac that came up with THAT waste of space.

Just like the IMAX theater can also be used for other things, the bumper car area is a multi- use area. Being a big flat space I imagine that it will also be used for a dance floor, among other things.

  9. Score one for Wifey!

    adjective

disappointed in someone or something that one discovers to be less good than one had believed.

"the minority groups were completely disillusioned with the party"

synonyms: disenchanted, disabused, disappointed, let down, discouraged; More

I thought "out to sea" had to be right. I read it on the internet.

  10. Does anyone know a good divorce lawyer? I just found out that being disillusioned with what my wife chooses to make for dinner means that I can no longer like her. I wish "out to sea" could have told me this years ago.

Please, disregard my previous post. My wife pointed out to me that the definition of disillusioned doesn't mean that I can't like her. I told her that "out to sea" says it does right in his 1st sentence. But, she made me actually read the definition, and you know what, she's right. Nowhere does the definition of disillusioned say that you can't like something if you're disappointed with part of it.

  11. To be disillusioned means exactly that! :D

    disillusioned

: having lost faith or trust in something : disappointed that something is not as good, valuable, true, etc., as it had seemed

    http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/disillusioned

Because we are disappointed or disillusioned about aspects of cruising Carnival this time or even last time, does NOT mean we do not like Carnival! (geesh)

  12. I have not seen the video -- just read the information. That seems to be a logical conclusion. It had already occurred to me that 2 separate point-of-sale systems doesn't make any sense and that the card will most likely be an RFID card rather than a mag strip. Do you have a link to the video?

    It is available at RoyalCaribbean.com.

  13. [quote name=mjldvlks;43913771

As an aside' date=' although some people seem to assume that they will, I have not been able to confirm that the alternative SeaPass cards will be RFID cards. Fain at the reveal said something like the alternative is the "traditional" SeaPass card. Now that could have been a sloppy comment without thinking. It wouldn't be the first time Fain has been quoted as saying something that is not quite correct technically [i have seen him quoted as referring to ship size by grt (as opposed to gt) which has been an obsolete reference since around 1980]. But if he is correct, the traditional SeaPass card is a mag strip card, not an RFID card.

If you watch the video from RCL closely, you'll notice that the locking mechanism doesn't have a slot for a sea pass card magnetic strip reader. So unless they are going to put 2 separate locking devices on all the doors, it means that sea pass cards will have RFID capability.

  14. I have no desire to be using my cellphone on a cruise. I keep mine OFF to avoid roaming and other fees. I also have no desire to be wearing a wristband during vacation. I prefer to have my drinks mixed my a person, not a robot. Needless to say I won't be booking this ship anytime soon.

And that is your choice. But, none of the things you point out are you required to do. So, just keep your cell phone off, and use a sea pass card, and go to a bar with a human bartender. But just think, if there is some type of emergency at home while your away, wouldn't it be nice to have the ability to use your phone?
