Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. That paper document was in our room on the Mardi Gras. Was in a drawer but I had a copy.
  2. On the documentation and visa theme, when I first came to the US (now a citizen) but I had a rare visa, an "I" one which is representative of foreign media. It was multiple entry and valid for 5 years. On my first cruise out of Fort Lauderdale, I was prevented from boarding on the grounds that my visa was a "one time entry". I obviously pointed out that it's not and my passport was littered with immigration entry stamps and staples of the multitude of the I-94 forms we used. Long story short, someone from the then INS (now CBP) was summoned to the port. Looked at the visa, apologized to me and said all is well, it's totally fine and off we went. πŸ™‚. So sometimes, they do get it wrong.
  3. I think they keep some for day use. They weren't used heavily, only 5 all week but on last full day they sold 5 on a day rate. They area was an oasis of tranquility for us).
  4. So Loft 19 was our little oasis. We did not have a cabana but noticed not many in use all week. On Friday (last day) it was busier. I asked the attendant (who were great). They had 5 booked all week and they sold 5 on a day basis on Friday ($250 port days, $500 sea day rates).
  5. In a weird sense of irony, by the time we parked the car at the terminal we were at 12:45 (we had a 1pm check in time). They were checking boarding passes at the entrance but he waved us on and said you'll be on board in no time and can go straight to your suite. We were onboard by 1:10 πŸ™‚
  6. So, there seems to be a bit of confusion on this so I called Carnival. Word was suite passengers can arrive any time. Even the priority boarding statements in the FAQ's that cover this only mention that VIFP status (diamond etc) must arrive at their allotted time, but suites are omitted from that specific statement. I'll know tomorrow πŸ™‚
  7. When I checked in for Liberty in late June, I recall there being a separate Suite line on the walkways to the terminal. Was I right or dreaming?
  8. Yes, as long as I remember. When I last looked they were offering the Cabana's at $1,750 for the week as a deal!!!!!, however they now show as sold out! We will use the Loft 19 area but not the cabana's. πŸ™‚
  9. Hi all, Second Carnival cruise this year, we've sprung for an Excel suite on the Mardi Gras next week. I'm late checking in (for many reasons) and noticed the earliest time we have is 1pm but it states Priority Boarding. For some reason I though suites can board any time. Am I mistaken? Thanks.
  10. Airport Canaveral looked real good at $20 each way until I entered our dates (Mardi Gras, so a Saturday sailing) and they double the price to $40 for Saturdays so I'm looking at other options. That gets expensive for 4 of us real quick. (I also hate that concept!)
  11. So, my wife went on a vacation with her father and sister as it likely was the last chance for them, I decided to book a 4 day cruise on the Liberty for myself and two daughters. We traveled a couple of weeks ago. I did think about getting a notarized approval from my wife but life got in the way and we never got round to it. Truth is I forgot about and it never came up at check in, was no issue and didn't think about it again. If I do it again, I would. I would rather be safe than not. It only takes one doing their job properly....
  12. We were on Liberty two weeks ago, the string trio was a duo as one of them was on "sick rest" (I guessed covid quarantine!). We enjoyed their playing!
  13. We too were on the 27th sailing. It was our first time with Carnival and being honest, I had a lot of friends tell me not to do a 3 or 4 day Carnival as it will be like watching drunks inside a pinball machine and bouncing everywhere! However, for me and my two girls it was fine, you could party if you wanted and have a quiet time if you wanted to. All I needed was the ability to relax and I could. Never saw any trouble (though we did see one guy settling his account Weds night, and escorted with his suitcase, so assume he was under some form of room arrest and met by Port's Canaveral's law enforcement and handcuffs on Friday!!). MDR was fine, food varied from good to ok. One day I ordered the Grilled chicken, and yes, it was chicken grilled. No seasoning at all! πŸ˜‚. I had to get them to tell me what the Indian dish was and it took a battle! However, i enjoyed the meals, and the desserts were fine. The Lido was a crapshoot, but my girls loved it, particularly the cakes. My eldest was determined to try Guys burgers but declared it could have easily been called Bobs or Simons burgers. Nothing special she said!! I found it fine. Fries were fries. I too found the lines weren't really a problem and I liked the fact I could get in line on the app for MDR breakfast and the Sea Brunch. We didn't try the Omelette stations, Mongolian Wok or the Deli, simply because we couldn't be bothered. The lines weren't super long though. Staff were friendly, and quite frankly handled some folks really well. I witnessed a few really rude folks but they're everywhere sadly. We're seasoned RCCL cruisers so wasn't sure what to expect. well, I wasn't disappointed. Could I have been, yes, but I wasn't paying premium prices. Would I do it again? Hell yeah. We're booked on the Mardi Gras in September, and that was booked last year so having now experienced Carnival, I'm looking forward to the big ship. I've done Harmony of the Seas so be curious on Mardi Gras. However, I'm NOT doing the roller coaster! Nope.
  14. We’re on the Mardi Gras later this year in an excel suite. I got pinged about extra special discount and when I looked it was $1,750 for the weeks rental. NFW.
