  1. OK, got a little bit of egg on my face....... The link my daughter sent me which seemed to suggest that there was a Thanksgiving holiday in Mexico was from the school district in the town of Mexico, Missouri.
  2. This could turn out to be a very dumb question, but I'm quite ignorant of traditions in Mexico and haven't been able to find consistent answers online. We're booked on a cruise to Cozumel and Progreso the week of Thanksgiving 2021 (crossing my fingers that it's safe to cruise by then). One of the excursions we're looking at visits a school near Progreso (my daughter is a teacher so she's interested in seeing how kids are taught in other countries). I ASSUME that Mexican schools won't close for Thanksgiving, but I've seen conflicting information on this.
  3. It's been a couple of months since I booked us on the 15 day cruise to Hawaii from San Francisco in Sept. of 2022. I finally got around to looking at excursions and see that my cruise planner only lists 4 excursions for Honolulu, yet the Carnival site shows a total of 32 excursions available in Honolulu. Please tell me I didn't miss the boat and that they simply haven't put all the excursions up yet. (I see 16 excursions on my cruise planner for Maui, compared to 17 total shown on the Carnival website).
  4. OK, thanks. All of my experience is with Carnival which lets me view and modify those on their website.
  5. I can't say as I blame you, and I hope you made clear to them why you were cancelling. I do the majority of my cruises on Carnival and I certainly don't want to be on board a ship with anyone who hasn't been vaccinated. We've already seen how quickly the original Covid virus spread throughout a ship, and the two variants going around now spread much more readily and are more deadly than the original.
  6. Yep, I've seen that before. And it makes perfect sense to do it that way.
  7. I've looked and looked and haven't been able to find where to change / verify dining and bed preferences. I'm sure someone here must know, this would save me having to sit on hold and then taking up the HAL agents' time for a simple question. Thanks
  8. I'm getting bored waiting to get back on a ship so I'm coming up with all manner of 'what ifs'. The latest: What if a platinum level passenger is in the same cabin with someone who hasn't attained that level yet..... will they get to board together or will the second passenger have to wait until the assigned boarding time? (My wife and I will probably become platinum in the not too distant future while our daughter has only done a couple of cruises so far).
  9. How about the fact that Covid has killed well over a half million Americans already, and that the new variants taking hold in this country spread far easier than the original strain? If people would get their head out of the sand and realize that this virus is a serious health threat maybe we'd get back to cruising sooner.
  10. I'm sure the CDC has bigger fish to fry than catering to a single industry. I can't wait to get back on a cruise ship, but I'm getting more and more skeptical that it's going to happen this year because of all the idiots I see who refuse to take simple precautions such as wearing a mask in stores. Add to that the entitled spring breakers who are no doubt spreading the virus, certain governors who put political interests over what medical experts tell them, and the fact that the new Covid variants spread far easier than the original and it's no wonder that the number of infections
  11. But but but.... not fair..... cancel culture !!!!!! 😁 Of course you're absolutely correct, but he and others of the same political mindset see it as being singled out. In any case, I'm glad to see that steps are being taken so that we can (hopefully) soon return to cruising and that it's going to be safe.
  12. I've been reading about "pent up demand" in regards to future cruises etc. etc. but have to wonder if there's as much demand as some are claiming. Several months ago I saw the writing on the wall and moved our June 2021 Alaska sailing to June 2022. We were able to get the exact same room, as was our daughter. Now my sister-in-law is thinking about joining us on the cruise and out of curiosity I checked the availability of cabins near us. (We have a Veranda on the back of Eurodam on deck 7, I've heard that's one of the best locations on an Alaska cruise in that you can relax on
  13. Well, I can still be a total jerk in a lot of ways...... just ask my wife. 😃
  14. Gotta' laugh a little bit.... sounds like my step-son who said he's definitely not going to get vaccinated may have to sit out his next cruise.
  15. A copy of your brokerage statement, with your account number (and anything else that you don't want the entire world to see) blacked out. I just sent them the one page that had CCL stock.
