  1. I dont want to beat a dead horse but as a good loyalty member with over 70,000 points they are more than generous to us and I cant imagine a problem with this. The YC Directors and HDs are very professional and use good common sense especially with YC loyalists as evidenced on every cruise we have taken. The point of my interactions on here was to show the naysayers that it is possible in some unique circumstances to legally invite a NON YC passenger to dine in the YC. My Aunts case fits this unique situation since every meal she is theoretically paying for 2 meals for 7 nights. But, I agree, 99% of the time, non YC guests will NEVER be allowed to dine at the restaurant or in Ocean Cay at the YC restaurant.
  2. Exactly, apparently no one read the scenario I laid out. We are going as a family in December staying in the YC on the Seashore. We are all in Deluxe Grand Suites including Aunt Alice. She is the only one single but paying a DOUBLE RATE as if there were two in her Suite. So, I still say, if she befriended a nice lady in another area of the ship and invited her to lunch or dinner in the YC, there would be no problem. I would be very vigilant in making sure this would be allowed. 99% of the responses did not read the facts and it wasnt worth my time to argue. bottomline: As in this case, it is possible and most likely to invite a non YC Cruiser into the YC for dining. Thanks for reading my posts correctly.
  3. I didnt imply that. We are talking about inviting a fellow passenger to lunch or dinner in the YC and I think it could be allowed in her situation. I will infact inquire when we are all together in Dec in the YC. She is 90 years old and would NEVER have a guest in her room.
  4. Not the same comparison at all. She bought a deluxe grand suite paying for 2. On a plane she would only buy one seat and of course she could not invite someone up front.
  5. My Aunt (single, paid double) in Deluxe Grand on Seashore in December. Wonder if she meets a lady or male and befriends, if there is an exception since she is paying the double occupancy rate? Not that she will but an interesting situation.
  6. Never saw scofflaws on the Divina but on Meriviglia (out of PC) witnessed twice older teens bringing friends (newly met?) into the Top Sail Lounge but quickly stopped passing by the Concierge. One time on the top Pool Deck we saw a group of 8 non YCers screaming, swearing at us to let them in (glass door) and it was discriminatory (started to get racial) to keep them out of this area. It seemed like it would get out of hand so we vacated the area. 99% of the time the cruises are bliss in the YC and we dont notice a thing out of the ordinary.
  7. Try moving to an empty seat in First Class from an Economy Seat. You wont even have a chance to sit down. This problem would be easy to cure on a ship if MSC really was concerned. Hopefully, enough Cruisers will complain and MSC will focus on the problem. Heck, they have a Butler checking IDs over the bridge before going to the Ocean Cay (Key) Restaurant.
  8. In the YC only Gelato is served obtained from the Gelato Store downstairs. It is great and available in the YC Dining room at lunch and dinner.
  9. For non YC, Celebrity hands down. For YC, 100% MSC. There can be huge amounts of children on X too.
  10. Saw Houdini last cruise. It was a complete waste of time and $$$s. The drinks were on a table coming into the room and warm, ice melted. The show was amateurish. I would not go again even if they paid me.
  11. Great Indian food in venues with Indian Chefs. The curries are amazing along with the Mango Chutney sauce and breads.
  12. Funny, we asked AJ for some Indian Food. Have known him for many cruises and we are ship buddies. Ne made us an amazing Indian meal on the final night of our 14 night stay. Going back soon and want the same dish.
  13. We also wait to dinner time when the personnel are in the restaurants and book for a subsequent night. If they are full, normally a 6 pm reservation will be accepted since most come later. The Diamond meal is very nice but the beef in the YC is much better. If we were not Diamonds we would never pay $59 pp for this meal vs the included YC steak.
  14. On the embarkation there is Indian Food in the buffet Ethnic Section. Each day they have a different type of food in this section. The service is good and the crew are mostly friendly. Best bang for the buck.
  15. Been on the Meraviglia YC for a few weeks. My big complaint is on OC. The proliferation of those motorized vehicles zipping past walkers is an accident about to happen. There are few walking only sidewalks. On the other walking areas it seems the vehicle drivers do not think the walkers have the right of way. The YC dedicated vehicles take forever to transport lately so we walk. They need to get their transport act together. Last year in October with much fewer passengers things were so efficient of course. I hardly communicate with the assigned Butler, he has 14 cabins including the 4 insides and is always running around. We used to get the escort service but with 80% + occupancy the personal service has changed. MSC YC is a great experience and great value for the $$$. Hopefully they do not price themselves out of the exclusive niche market. We did not book any future cruises.
  16. Been on the Meraviglia YC for two weeks now and it has been excellent. The word NO was never uttered and we have never smelled or withessed pot anywhere on the ship. The YC Maitre'd George from Romania is excellent and the food super great. Butchers Cut filet mignon was not as good as the filet in the YC Restaurant. We will skip the Diamond Comped dinner on the next cruise. We are being treated royally on this ship.
  17. On a 14 day YC cruise now. We average 7 days a month in top categories, do our own research and just send an email to the TA to book. So, they rarely have anything more to do for us. Win win scenario.
  18. 11% off the price netted for any cruise booked. No OBC except from MSC. On a 7 night YC Grand Deluxe cabin the discount is material. Lucky to have found a large Travel Agency willing to negotiate their commissions with me.
  19. Our Filet Mignons were bigger and better than in Butchers Cut. I could have as many sides needed with no $4.00 per extra side charged.
  20. I do not think you will each get two comped dinners. The Diamond benefits state one free dinner per stateroom. If two reside in the room you both partake. My wife and I are both Diamond and we each get one meal because of the rules. There is nothing mentioned about inviting a guest BUT, best bet is to check on the ship.
  21. I pass the area where the regulars drop their luggage off and continue straight past the escalators, loop right continuing to the backside by the YC Greeting Table. Drop off luggage, have wife check-in while you park the car in the PC lot. Then its a 4 min walk back to the escalator’s. Seamless process for us each time we cruise in the YC.
  22. Never realized we had two devices each since we only have an iPad each. Nice to know if we ever buy a cell phone.
  23. Great filet mignons in the YC Restaurant
  24. We have had a few YC Dir's that have gone way and beyond their duties in making our vacation over and above. We have tipped them accordingly and they have never not said it is not recommended. Everyone works on a ship for one reason. No need to reiterate why.
  25. The Porters now take your luggage to your car on Debarkation. $20 tip is well worth it not having to lift a thing until you get home.
