Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. You can check in using the airline app and then print your boarding passes at the airport.
  2. No room service on the final morning. We were mega rockstars last year and had hoped to have a leisurely room service breakfast - but couldn't. We ended up in the Galley. For our sailing in 4 weeks I've booked The Wake.
  3. Great points, thank you. Oceanview is more affordable than a balcony!!
  4. Thank you so much for sharing all this info. We aren't really beach people, and would love to see the scenery / wildlife. You've given me lots to look into and think about, I appreciate your time.
  5. Hello all, We are looking at an Alaskan cruise for next year. I am starting to dig into the details, and have been reading posts here to try and gain some insight! Would you recommend sailing out of Seattle or Vancouver? Or is it better to do a one way? Cruise line - we sailed Carnival in the Caribbean 17 years ago (a quick child free trip for our 10th anniversary), last year we sailed 5 nights on Virgin Voyages - we were spoiled and were mega rockstars thanks to the covid cancellations and generous rebooking credit, and we are sailing Virgin again this Nov on an 8 night cruise in an XL sea terrace (balcony) cabin. Virgin has captured our hearts for a few reasons - no kids, no upcharges for specialty restaurants, no tipping, crew paid and treated better etc. Unfortunately they don't have an Alaska itinerary so we need to choose a different line! We will be 50 & 56, young at heart, looking for a ship with a relaxed vibe, not over run with children (planning to go in may I think to help with this!), not stuffy or too formal. Decent MDR food. Any suggestions please? Reading here has suggested not choosing Celebrity as they don't go to Glacier Bay. Places that I should ensure are on the itinerary? Is it best to get a balcony rather than just an ocean view? Not sure that we will be up to splurging on a suite! I appreciate advice, insights & info to help me plan this trip! Thank you 🙂
  6. Thank you! I will take a look, I appreciate the suggestion.
  7. Hello, We are flying into FLL the day before our Virgin cruise out of Miami. We will (hopefully!!) be arriving early morning the day before our cruise. We haven't been to FLL before, so I'm thinking it would be nice to spend the day/night there and then travel to Miami the next day ready for our 1.30pm boarding time. Any info would be appreciated - areas to stay (or not stay), places not to be missed. We aren't 'beach people', other than walking on the beach. Thank you in advance!
  8. Hello, We have a day in St Croix in November, and all of the excursions available from our cruise line (Virgin) sold out within 3 days! Is St Croix a port where we can disembark and easily walk to do a little local sightseeing? I see we will disembark at Frederiksted Pier. We haven't been to St Croix before, and had planned to do a sightseeing trip through Virgin - but I'm hoping it's a port that we can maybe explore a little on our own? We're not too confident with booking excursions outside of the cruise line. Any suggestions / info / advice is much appreciated! Thank you!
  9. We travelled in May 2022 on the Dominican Daze itinerary with green cards & Canadian passports and did not have any issues. It depends on where your friends are citizens of and which passport they are travelling with (they will need their passport in addition to their green card). This is the Dominican Republic Embassy website: http://www.domrep.org/faqconsular.html 2) Is a visa required for non US citizens to enter the Dominican Republic as a tourist? Any person who can legally travel or reside in the United States, Canada and the European Union (including Great Britain) does not need a Visa to visit the Dominican Republic for tourist purposes and can enter the Dominican Republic with a Tourist Card and a valid passport. For other cases please see the requirements under http://domrep.org/visa.html for more details. We did not have to purchase a tourist visa ourselves, we were just able to walk off of the ship.
