  1. Hello, everyone! If my count is correct, it looks like there's at least the 8 of us now: 3 couples and 2 singles traveling that are at least a part of this group thread :D This will also be my first time ever to visit San Fran. :o

I wonder if there are others? Other single travelers, too? As much as I really REALLY look forward to meeting everyone, I wanna make sure I don't get in the way or become a "5th. wheel" to anyone's vacation. :D

    Ron

    Hey Ron,

No one is ever a 5th wheel in our books (at least for us)... Paul and I look forward to meeting you.

Oh by the way guys, the M class ships have an awesome men's sauna that has huge port hole windows that overlook the ocean / dock. ;-)

  2. IMHO -- the corner afts (6030 & 6035) are the best. We've even had the one on the "smoking" side of the ship, and had no problem with smoke wafting up from the public area below. You have a great view, in all directions, and the balcony is HUGE!. We could not get a lounger on Millie, but I don't know about other ships. It's still a GREAT balcony cabin!

I'm confused, 6030 and 6035 are both FORWARD on the ship aren't they? Why are we saying they are AFT?

  3. Thanks, Pat, for the re-direction to this link, too! Also, hello to you, too, Craig! So, is it really just the 4 of us on this sailing? Kinda hard to believe since it's originating with 2 actual days in San Fran.

    Hey Ron,

I'm sure there are LOTS of LGBT cruisers on this cruise, they must just be SHY. LOL.

Have you cruised with Celebrity before? This will be our 4th Celebrity and 6th cruise.

  4. This may have been answered somewhere, if so my apologies.

If I pre-purchase the Premium Non-Alcoholic Package prior to the cruise may I choose to upgrade to the Premium Package (with Alcohol) later in the cruise? If so, is there a deadline, like there has to be so many nights left on the cruise? What is the cost to upgrade, just the difference per day plus 18% Grats?

    Thanks in advance.

  5. If you have a prepaid or free drinks package which includes a 18% gratuity do you still tip a dollar a drink?

I was referring to what I tip in a bar on land, not the cruise. I rarely tip extra when I order a beverage on the ship. I think 18% is just fine. Unless I notice a bartender with particularly long pours. [emoji4]

  6. What do you tip for drinks when you go to a bar in the your home city? Or drinks in a nightclub? Or when ordering a drink in a restaurant?

I tip a buck a drink usually. So a 5 or 6 dollar drink gets a dollar tip. Just me. So about 20%?

  7. Hi Sandtrap328,

Infinity offers Qsine and SS United States for Specialty Dining. There's also BLU, which is for Aqua Class guests, but I believe you can dine there on a space available basis.

That I'm aware of, Cellar Masters is available on Infinity. Here's a link to Celebrity's website, where you can explore the ship : http://www.celebritycruises.com/ships/celebrity-infinity .

Hope this helps, and have a wonderful cruise !

Don't forget Bistro on 5! It's technically a specialty restaurant too...open until 11 PM daily.

  8.

No discounts or anything on the b2b we're going to be taking next year but maybe something will show up later.

    Sparky,

You have to call the Captain's Club to get your category upgrade (or have your TA call them).

The benefit is that you get the higher cabin inside to inside, OV to OV, and so on. For example on our upcoming cruise we are sailing in a Cat 9 inside but paid the Cat 10 price. The perk doesn't allow you to pay for a Cat 9 (Inside) and sail in a Cat 8 (OV). And you can't pay for a Cat 4 (OV) and sail in a Cat 2C (Veranda).

  9. Another thing to remember if you do get recripocal status between lines is that you start earning status on the other line at ZERO points. For example when we obtained Captains Club Select we enrolled in C&A at the Platinum level. But when we take our first RCCL we will essentialy be starting at zero C&A points and will need to cruise several times (not sure how many) to obtain Emerald and several more RCCL cruises to get Diamond and so on.

As we continue to cruise Celebrity however, we will obtain Elite in Celebrity and will get recripocal benefits as (Diamond) members at C&A. We only need 80 more points to get Elite on Celebrity. Once obtained I will call C&A to let them know and get the recripocal status.

Anyone please correct me if I've misunderstood the programs.

  10.

No promo perks that I can determine as far as OBC or dinner packages. Too bad you can't get a liquor package due to Hawaii's liquor laws, and a casino would have been fun on the crossing, but that will just save us some money in the long run.

Thanks for all the replies you guys have been really helpful. We are going to skip this cruise though, all the decent priced suites are sold out. Also because of the fact that they have to exclude the beverage package promotion, it's just not a really good deal to us. We'll consider another NCL cruise in the future though, if we get the perks in a suite that other ships get.

  11. I'm a fixated cruiser on 'Brand X' but live in the SF bay area and am seriously thinking about cruising on the 'unique' 11 night SFO to HNL in March 2016. We cruised on Pride about 5 years ago for a charter and loved the ship. We were in one of those kinda funky SJ suites that had a boat in front of the window and a tiny second bedroom and bath, not a real suite as we didn't get any perks. Anyhow, I have a question, which is better, an SE or an SG? Not sure what the difference since we are generally familiar to *cough cough* 'Band X' with names for their different suite categories.

  12. On Infinity, the specialty restaurant is Ocean Liner, I believe. They have a caviar option for a large extra charge. This would not be included in the suite guest dining, would it?

There is an expensive champagne that is served in the restaurant also from a huge ice bucket. I am quite sure that is not covered on the premium beverage package?

Infinity has The SS United States. But all of the M class ships main specialty restaurants are French cuisine and nearly the same menu.

    Pat

  13.

We're probably be joining you on formal night. :D

Right on! We've eaten at SS US before. Was very nice but not worth the $50 pp charged now. IMHO

  14. Being a non american citizen, I want to visit California on a cruise. I wonder why I am not finding any cruise lines which offer San Francisco-LA sailings. Only Princess

    Any suggestion?

Ceebrity offers a Round Trip 9 night Pacific Coastal that boards 4 Sept 2015. 43 days from now. Still many cabins available in all categories. I can't wait!
