tips for booking with something less than a 100% solo supplement?
@Buckeye10640 try cruiseplum.com. Not a travel agent, all links go to the cruise line site. They have a search tab for solo supplements, you can order the results by percentage mark up.

We had pre-booked tickets and joined a line that took about 45 mins to get to board the capsule. Those buying at the ticket kiosk joined a separate line that met ours at the boarding platform, that line looked about twice as long. This was in November 2022.

@oakridger this is the link for various options from UK to Norway by train. May give you some ideas for the section from Amsterdam to Oslo.

The brand varies a lot, depending on the supply chain. You could try to find a roll call of a current sailing and ask there, but if the ship resupplies in the meantime, there could be a different brand by the time you board.

crowns that fall out
I asked my dentist about using a dental repair kit for one of my crowns, when we were going on an extended vacation. He said not to use them as the subsequent removal of the crown would be extremely difficult. He suggested taking polident (a fixative for securing dentures). Telling me it would hold the crown securely and he would be able to refix the crown on my return.
Fortunately my crown “behaved” and I didn’t need to use anything.
I would double check with a quick call to your dentist to see what is recommended. Crowns are expensive and you wouldn’t want to damage it.

I use Tru Earth for all my washing. I see they are now available in Australia

@Coravel thanks. I had a feeling it was way too soon, but wanted to check.

Thanks @tring , we are using the service as it will be prior to a long cruise and although we usually go on a train, this will be so much easier (we hope). I will call Fred.

We have a cruise booked for next year. The booking includes the car and driver service from home to Southampton. It feels too early to call and arrange this, but not having done it before I have no idea. Can anyone advise how soon before the cruise I should call to get this organized?

Sid, it really worked for me the “go off and enjoy yourself, write about it later” approach, rather than a continues blow by blow. You seemed to capture the same information with your usual style. I usually read a few pages at a time to catch up.
I hope this allowed you to have more time to enjoy on your own. Sounds like a fun holiday. Safe travels

Needs to be done by phone, using the fcc reference number. Either call your travel agent, or if you didn’t use one, call Princess directly

@Flyinby Thank you for your review. We are considering doing this cruise and your comments have been really helpful.

This was not on our itinerary, which had us sailing round the outside of Greenland. But the Captain announced he would sail down the sound either that morning, or the night before. It was the highlight of the cruise.

The “true” inside passage runs between Vancouver Island and the mainland. Royal ships do not do this, but sail round the outside of the Island (rougher seas and no scenery)
The map that Princess uses labels the area North of Vancouver Island as the inside passage, but this is only a tiny section and misses the best views.- 2

Thanks @Coral, I have been waiting for this. We are booked on the previous sailing and wanted to make it a B2B

We haven’t sailed with Ambassador yet, but have read some good reviews and are also tempted by the offers available. We have a cruise booked with them next year.
We think there is no such thing as a bad cruise. Will everything be perfect - no. Will we enjoy ourselves, absolutely!
you could try posing your question in the first time cruisers forum
https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/58-first-time-cruisers/
or read one of the “live from” reviews. I particularly liked this one

I remember reading a blog from the 2018 Princess World Cruise. The writer used an oxygen concentrator. You might find it interesting reading

Another vote for Glacier Bay. Also try to pick an itinerary that sails between Vancouver Island and the mainland. Better views, calmer seas, the bigger ships go round the outside.

North Star for us too in May 2022

Try looking at Ambassador
Orkney Island Port(Kirkwall)
in Princess Cruises

Once yo get there, the town is very walkable, harbour, shops, Cathedral. It is a 2.2mile walk from the cruise ship dock to the Cathedral, so unless you are a good walker the shuttle service might be your best bet.
