  1. A Great Top Of The Rock Tour By Neil's Cab & Tour notnilc@gibtelecom.net 3-505-400-3022 Neil picked up on time at the port building of Gibraltar and we proceeded to have one of the best tours of the Rock of Gibraltar you could ever ask for. Neil's knowledge of the history of the rock and the surrounding areas was outstanding. He first took us around the backside of the rock and explained the different rock formations and its vegetation. Then he took us up to the top of the rock so that we could view the surrounding areas and the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea. Along the way we encountered a group of monkeys who live on the rock. He knew some of them by name and called to them to come over to the vehicle. We were able to see them up close without leaving the vehicle. We ended the tour by going through the main town square. His background and knowledge of the area and his ability to explain it made the tour a wonderful experience. I highly recommend this tour.
  2. We will be sailing on Azamara Quest in late August. There are two excursions offered in the port of Bordeau, France. Both are to wineries. One is called Margaux Wine Tour, and the other is Vineyards of Sauternes & Graves. If anyone can share their thoughts on either or both of these excursions we would appreciate the input as we can only do one of them. Thank you.... Fred (Sea-FAB)
  3. I, like others have problems distance walking & have ordered a scooter for travel. It is travel friendly & when folded is the size of a large travel bag (45 lbs) that is easy to wheel. My questions are: 1. Do I have to notify the cruise company (Azamara) that I will be traveling with it? 2. How to I (they) get the scooter on & off the ship when we dock? On the ports that we tender can I board the tended & take my scooter with me? Thanks for your help--I have done 11 cruises & this will be my first with a scooter. Thanks Fred (Sea-FAB)
  4. Nov. 26, 2011 we did a five hour tour to Montserrat from our ship docked in Barcelona. Our tour guide was Patrick from Barcelona Tour Guides. It was the second time I had been on a tour with Barcelona Tour Guides ( www.barcelonatourguides.com) & again the tour was outstanding. We started with a drive through Barcelona, when a scenic drive to Montserrat and visited the Banta Maria Benedictine Basilica, and its grounds, the chamber of the Black Madonna all narrated wonderfully by Patrick. Again, just like the first time, a wonderful tour by Barcelona Tour Guides .
  5. FOX NEWS Just got back from a Holland America, 28 day Baltic cruise---First 2 days got CNN & Fox news--26 days FOX News only. Also have had the same problem on Princess, NCL & RCCL. Why do ships only get FOX News? I can not imagine that Fox News is the only one that has the satellite power because this has happened to us on cruises all over the world. Help!!!! Fred--SeaFAB
  6. Yes, we plan to take a small overnight carry-on bag for our overnoght stay in Amsterdam. As for U.S. customs, we used E-Z- Check on our last trans-Atlantic cruise from Rome to Ft. Lauderdale & we never saw our luggage at our first U.S port--Ft Lauderdale. What was most interesting:rolleyes:--the luggage tags that they gave us onboard ship said Ft Lauderdale-Dallas only, not Ft. Lauderdael-Dallas-Palm Springs:cool:. I call to say we had the wrong luggage tags they said "Don't worry Dallas is your first stop, the bar code has Palm Springs". And sure enough got to Palm Springs & the bags came in with all the other passengers luggage:D. As for luggage fees, we are in first class-no fees. Fred Sea-FAB
  7. On our last Princess cruise we did "E-Z Check" ($20.00 per bag)for our luggage. That is, the last night of the cruise you put your luggage outside your cabin & the next time you see it is at your final airport baggage area. On this trip we are planning to stay in Amsterdam one night & fly out the next morning. First, does Holland America & Oceaia offer E-Z Check & can you use E-Z check if you are doing a one night stop before flying home? Fred Sea-FAB
  8. First, sorry for your loss. We just returned from Venice & stayed at the wonderful Hotel dell'Opera www.hoteldelloperavenice.com . It is a small (16 rooms) boutique hotel, wonderful rooms, modern updated bathrooms, elevator & full breakfast. The hotel staff are wonderful & all requests where handeled with a smile. As others have said--because you will have luggage--take a water taxi from the airport (walk out front of the airport, on left side-follow the marked sidewalk to the water taxis). The water taxi will drop you at the front door of the hotel & handle all your luggage. The hotel is close to St. Marks & near the opera house. When you leave the hotel, the hotel can arange to have a water taxi take you & you luggage to the ship. Just steps from the hotel there are wonderful places to have dinner, some with outdoor cafes seating that face the front of the opera house, so you can watch people going to the opera while you eat dinner. The Hotel dell' Opera is a wonderful hotel, great location at a very reasionable price. Fred Sea-FAB
  9. Italy--Trains--Before our Marina "O" cruise, we will be doing a pre-cruise 4 day visit to Florence, Italy, then taking a train to Civitavecchia, with a change of trains in Rome. My question: Never having traveled by train in Italy, are their people (porters) to help with luggage at the train stations in Italy? Also, at the train station at Civitavecchia are taxis available? Fred Sea-FAB
  10. We where in Venice 10-03-2010 for 4 nights & stayed at The Hotel 'Dell Opera. It was a wonderful small hotel & a great place to stay in Venice. It is close to St. Marks square, around the corner from the opera house, shopping & wonderful resteraunts for dinner. Our "water taxi" brought us to the front door of the hotel, making the hotel very accessible. We where a party of five, in three rooms. All three rooms where good size, beds comfortable, bathrooms updated with the "lift' close by, making all of the hotel very accessible. The breakfast room was very nice & the contenential breakfast had a nice selection of food. The hotel staff where very helpful & allways with a smile. The Hotel' Dell Opera is a wonderful hotel, in a great location, in a wonderful city. We look forward to our next visit to Venice & our stay at the Hotel Dell' Opera.
  11. :confused:I want to do a self walking tour of Rhodes. What are the "Must See & Do Things & Must see shops" in Rodes? Thanks for your help. Fred --Sea-FAB
  12. :confused:Does anyone have the name of the public shuttle to Capri from the port of Naples? Contact info? How far is it from the dock where Princess docks? Thanks Sea-FAB:cool:
  13. Hell-o Denverite I will be doing the same princess curise in Sept 2009. Could you please tell me about private tour guides that you have used in any of the ports, My E-mail is fb35850@aol.com-----Thanks Sea/FAB
  14. :) Just returned from a wonderful Mexican Riviera cruise, All the ports are so wonderful and different. The one we liked the most was Puerto Vallarta, a wonderful little Mexican village full of history, with cobblestone streets, great shops, with wonderful items for sale. We had a private tour guide, Arturo who's English was very good, told us about the History of the city and his knowledge of the churches and monuments was outstanding. During the tour we also stop at a wonderful restaurant for lunch. Touring with Arturo artuor@hotmail.com made our day in Puerto Vallarta a very enjoyable and memorable. One of the best port days ever. :)
  15. We where in aft cabin 9276 July 06-It was WONDERFUL--Large main cabin, great bath with tub, separate water closet, large walk-in clothes closet & a separate dressing room. If you can get it-Grab it NOW!!! Best cabin for Alaska because you can see both sides of the Inland Passage as you travel. Only small negative, one time we found a small spec of shoot on our balcony chairs. We asked the room Stuart to clean or check the balcony daily. They also left us clean towels daily to put on the balcony chairs and offer to have any item that may be soiled to dry clean free of charge. It was not a big thing. Enjoy this great cabin----Sea/FAB
