On Ascent we used the Google messenger RCS app for texting and wifi calling with the premium wifi package. It worked fine with our Samsung phones. We were able to text and call our iPhone using kids with no problem

I've seen both, but you really can't predict one way or the other. If the price is good then book it.

Airplane mode and WiFi on while at sea where cell service is roaming. Once in port you can resume normal cell service. Depending on your device, WiFi calling will work. Also FaceTime and texting are good with premium WiFi
