  1. Much thanks to your husband and you and your family for your service and sacrifices...our daughter gets anxious when planning family time fearful of the the deployment but Royal Caribbean takes great care of her. She cruised with us before marrying her serviceman! Planning the post deployment cruise is just as much fun!

    Take care.

  2. awe when you did the remember when....our first cruise April 23, 2006 7 nights out of Miami...western caribbean.....we did Belize, Costa Maya, Cozumel and Grand Cayman......I loved every minute on board and on that ship. We were with a large group from Smithtown NY fire department.....I am so blessed to have family that guided me thru the experience and made me feel safe and kept me busy....now 30 some cruises later.....and many many nites on the Explorer... I find myself looking at the site and thinking about booking more on her....

Enjoy every minute and thank you so much for taking time to share this special trip with all of us.

  3. I did not think Oasis-Class will fit under the Verrazano Bridge?

Even if it did; where can you go from NJ? Can't fit into any New England or Canadian Ports. Can't fit into Bermuda. From pretty much November - March you burn at least 1 day each way in cold weather, and that's just hauling butt to get to Nassau. Can't even take the ships to Cococay since they won't do tender ports with these ships. Is it confirmed that they can even port at Port Canaveral? They'd have to run longer than 7 day itinerary on Oasis-class out of NJ just to get to ports that accept the ship and get back. I don't see it happening.

Work has been done and may be completed to change the decks on the Verrazano Bridge so a larger ship can fit but the ship still has to have the perfect tide conditions and lower the stacks as they have for when the Freedom came into the harbor. In the winter its a loss of days for me as its too cold. While I enjoy the sea days I wish to have the choice of enjoying the outdoors but not with my winter coat on.... I think the information stated as it being Oasis class is a little out there as you are so right...the only port it fits in would be a stop in Ft Lauderdale? and then on to Nassau.....lol And I see in the newspapers that the project won't be finished until November 2015 and it coincides with the Panama Canal hopefully being finished. So who knows....maybe we will see an Oasis...but I fear we will be on a 7 day cruise to no where cause she can't fit anywhere around here

  4. Your room attendant is still doing clean sheets for pac n play and clean towels for when you bathe your little one also and cleaning the room......and while the baby may not eat the same food in the dining room they are still on board and noted as a passenger. Enjoy the memories with your little one while you can as before you know it....they are grown up.

After the age of 2 most airlines charge full pop to fly.

  5. Another thread reported a passenger came onboard with this. Apparently a miscommunication in understanding the health survey form?

With all of these diseases and illnesses happening all at once it seems, washie washie should be in all of our lives. Sadly it does not appear to be.

Hope everyone has recovered and this sailing all are ok.

  6. if there were truly that may affected they would have delayed the ship from sailing. My memory goes back to leaving on the adventure a few years ago out of san juan and the princess ship was parked in front of us...empty except for crew....they were just starting to board when we were leaving at 830pm....ship had been cleaning all day due to noro...they left and two days later had to come back along with several other princess ships returning due to large outbreaks. It happens...everywhere not just on the cruise lines....washie washie washie....no matter what.......I actually got cussed at on last cruise as I was using a paper towel to open the door as that is what the little towels are hanging there for and a lady started to try to open the door to leave as well as i was getting a towel and I said to her...oh i got this....I will wait for you to wash your hands so you won't have to touch the door....not sure what language it was but geesh.....and then walked out to tell her husband again not sure what language but he was shaking his finger at me and I just shook mine back and said no washie her hands....germ city....yuck and looked disgusted....in the dining room they went....my husband laughed and said maybe in their country they don't wash and I said maybe in their country they all scratch their heads when they get sick too...yuck She saw me washing as she came out of her stall and proceeded to put on more lipstick and never washed....and no there wasn't a sink in her stall.

  7. Well I can tell you we are going on our fourth back to back cruise on the Adventure in february. Love the ship and the ports and we love the ship, the crew and have always had terrific service. I have been on the Summit and its not our cup of tea. We love the amenities on the Adventure that the Summit just doesn't have. While we haven't been on the Jewel of the Seas we have been on her sister ship the Serenade and have that ship booked for two more cruises.

Which ever you choose have an awesome vacation!

  8. We just tried to get Travelers Checks at our AAA location and they told us they no longer carry at any location and told us to get a visa card and load it. Yeah right and if that little gem gets stolen we have nothing.

so whomever is still finding the travlers checks let us know

  9. My first ship...so sad to see her go but haven't cruised on her since our last nine night a few years ago....the 7 nights to florida and bahamas just not exciting for us. We so love the crew and so many are friends and family it seems. You felt like you were home when you walked on board. So many we have met have moved to other ships and we see them and also to the Adventure of the Seas. Thank you for the great memories and the many friendships we have formed for life!

  10. Majority of hotel rooms are not ready before 3:00 p.m. Hard pressed not to take your bags to lunch! Also, that would be all the bags - not just carry-on.

I was just thinking this same thing...after a little over a week of being on the road we didn't have one hotel that had rooms ready before 330 at the earliest and that was in West Yellowstone. Then its like magic....yes your room is ready! We actually were given a pager at one and it was around 430 when it went off and then our hotel in Jackson Hole called us at 355 to let us know it was ready. In Miami in July for our Duck Commander Cruise we stayed at the Hyatt and arrived right at 330 and rooms were ready in just a few minutes of checking in. Never had a room ready at lunchtime except out in vegas and only with priority status checkin and it was not the room we wished but a room that was ready and we were exhausted after being up at 3am east coast to fly.

  11. My GF and I cruised on the Navigator last week.

We had booked this cruise a couple months ago

She is a stage4 cancer survivor of 6 yrs

Well she was rediagnosed 3 weeks ago and will start her chemo again this Friday.

So we canceled my 50th bday cruise in Nov and we were going to cancel this cruise but her Oncologist said it would be ok if she waited another week for tx

We decided we were just going to relax the whole week and splurge on a massage for her

The first sea day(mon) we went to the Spa and she booked a 75minute deep tissue massage for late morning Thursday while in Falmouth.

She was so happy looking forward to it the next few days.

On Thursday after breakfast she goes to her appt and I go relax in the VCL

About 20 minutes later she comes in and is in tears.

While in the tx room, she was asked if she had any medical issues and she said yes.

Now over the years of her having cancer she has had a couple massages on RCCL Never been an issue before.

SO we head back to the Spa and asked to speak to the manager

Lisa didn't want to go in since she was embarrassed

The Manager took me into one of the rooms so we could talk

The reason they refused the massage is they didn't want the cancer to spread:rolleyes:

When she told me that I laughed and told her, while im not an oncologist I do have a long medical background ;)

After a 15minute discussion of me explaining all the merits of massage therapy for cancer patients and metastasis is not caused by a massage, she said she would call corporate and get back to me in a half hr.

So we went back to the cabin and waited for about an hr and no call. So we head back to Spa and this time Lisa goes in with me.

The manager said she was waiting on corporate to research my claims, but currently she would not authorize a massage.

I asked her to call us in the DL since our cabin was being clean

2 hrs go by and still nothing. So we head back to our cabin.

As we enter the phone rings and guess who it is.

Corporate said it was ok to have the massage as long as it was only light to medium.

Lisa goes and haves her massage and when she comes back she said that was the best massage she had ever gotten onboard a ship

In the end she was happy, but what the spa didn't realize, is stress can spread cancer more than a massage can:eek:

I am glad that she got her massage in the end. Hope you realize what they were trying to say and do. They were meaning to do her no further harm to her body more than what she was going thru. I prefer that caution much more than collecting the money and doing it.

Wishing her treatments are successful. Take care.

  12. Maybe it's the high percentage of locals, but the ship seems to have a special vibe, that extends to very late night.

So right Bob. its a great energy on this ship but we sure haven't experienced the negative stuff others write about from the locals being on board. Gee I am a local on the Explorer....but being from Delaware sure isn't being from NY or NJ and wow talk about difference on that ship when in Bayonne....love San Juan just saying...lol

  13. Well as for me, I enjoy the Radiance class ships but I would take a Voyager class ship over Radiance any day. So I understand where you are coming from!

We thought that too....then I booked a great cabin on the Serenade...now the spoiled man only wants that cabin if we do a radiance class ship. The fools at RCCL, I mean the powers that be...decided to change the occupancy in that cabin to 3+ to book it...guess they are putting sofa beds in the cabins now and requiring 3 or 4 people to be in the cabin....so our love for this ship may be short lived but it seems royal caribbean is doing other crazy crap...especially this dynamic dining and adding more cabins on the Oasis...the hubby says where are these people going to eat if you take away the big dining rooms....i said its about cha ching....they have to eat specialty if they can't get their dining times.ehhh ranting again...lol

  14. Hi,

I love hearing positive things about the Adventure (vs all those negative posts lately)....can you name, let's say three things you love about the AOS?

    1. when we walk on board its like we are coming home when we hear welcome back and glad to see you and the SMILES!!!

    2. the service...best waiter in MDR ever...Anthony Navarro from the Phillipines...he has been taking care of us for several years! Excellent room attendants....special shout out to Marie Johnson from Panama...can't wait to see her again. Hearing your name after only meeting you once...knowing your likes and needs after one meeting....

    3. the ship....crew works around the clock to keep this ship in tip top shape the best that they can. Always smiling and always a hello even if they are crew that are in mtce and don't speak much english.

I was always intrigued about this ship and wanted to go but saw so many iffy reviews and with airfare from the east coast crazy at times to san juan we did other ships. Several members on here convinced me to try this ship so we did...four years ago...did a back to back and haven't looked back. Number four coming up! Thanks Ocean Boy, Robyn and Bob!!! Yes we have tried another ship since...the Serenade...but there is something about the Adventure and her crew that keeps calling us back.
