  1. Perhaps it's 30 consecutive days rather than 30 business days ? ( I don't know ). Perhaps it's 36 hrs in Southern Ontario , but, 72 hrs everywhere else ? ( I don't know ) Perhaps you are complaining to the wrong crowd ? ( That one I do know--- it's yes ) Perhaps call your TA ( Big Box Travel ) and get them to try for you ?
  2. Suggestion re: Future Cruise Dept on board If you are not prepared to make a booking on board, it might be a good idea to purchase a Future Cruise Certificate. How it works if you don't cruise in suites : Cost $ 200 ( US ) Must book a cruise within 6 months of purchase The $ 200 you paid for the Certificate is applied as the deposit instead of $900 Based on the number of nights of the cruise, you receive additional OBC over what the cruise price is. Example-- Cruise price includes $400 OBC, certificate based on10 nights adds another $200 OBC -- $ 600 Non refundable OBC ( not enough to purchase a preloved Rolex ).
  3. How did you arrange to meet ? Do they still have Meet and Greet gatherings ? ( I assume it wasn't from the upside-down pineapple on the door " Activity " ) ? Is it common for CCers to reveal their name if/when/how they meet in person even if not sharing a table for dinner ? " sharing a table with Posters on CC "--- I said " some "of the Posters on CC "--- meaning " some " of the continuously negative posters on CC. " our different cultures and ways of approaching issues " -- LOL-- That's exactly why we decided (?? ) to leave a table in the middle of our dinner without even staying for desert on a cruise " way back when ". As a matter of fact, we just got up and walked away without saying " Nice meeting you ". Since then, we've met many very nice people at nearby tables--- always fun.
  4. LOL-- I read your post 26 times and NOW, I get it . " sharing tables at dinner is a major part of our cruise and with Aqua you have your own table". " sharing table, major part of your cruise" ---Now that's easy-- you enjoy sharing a table. LOL---I read it as because it's a major part of your cruise you did not want to share a table, and when you further mentioned "with Aqua you have your own table "--- That's what I was referring to in my comment about always requesting a table for 2 in the MDR. LOL--- (General comment)-- Would you like to share a table with some of the Posters on CC??
  5. Compilation from above posts with input/advice: 1--I'm looking at a cruise on Celebrity Reflection -- Excellent choice( Service-Food--Cleanliness ) 2--I agree on Reflection the Concierge class amenities are not worth paying extra -- Not worth anything extra. The concierge lunch is a big Zero--- Nothing special. 3--We like the Deluxe Veranda (DV) which are on the slant of the hump at mid ship. Due to the slant of the balcony they are 2 or 3 times the size of a regular balcony. Absolutely correct-- a good choice 4--There are a couple of extra features that come with the concierge room like a bottle of rather inexpensive bubbly wine, a dining room lunch on embarkation day (as opposed to the Buffet), and extra Captains Club points.-- Not worth the extra charge. 5-- sharing tables at dinner is a major part of our cruise-- Same for us-- We always request a table for 2 and are always accommodated Trust the above posts-- you will not go wrong.
  6. Totally understand your frustration. The group ( apparently very large ) most likely arranged everything long ago. If it were us, we would be disappointed also, and celebrate our xx anniversary the next day. Also, I'm not sure we would enjoy our dinner with the rest of the diners being a part of the same group. One table could be louder than the other , and, the other louder than, etc etc.
  7. Nothing to worry about--- The Porters at the pier have luggage tags and will attach them for you-- Make sure to remember your cabin number and to say Thank You ( $$ ). LOL-- Don't try telling the Porter that you have the Gratuities Included package unless you don't mind wearing the same clothes for the entire cruise.
  8. No--- It's none of anyone's business how someone defines " overpriced ". It depends on their wallet ( $$ ) and the value they perceive for the price. Agree ??
  9. " happy about " -- That we were introduced to Celebrity several years ago. That the Staff we encountered on every cruise was absolutely " top notch ". That the food in the MDR and especially the Specialty restaurants was well beyond expectations for the amount of meals prepared every day. The cleanliness of the ships and attention to details of same. That my Waiter wasn't fired because he forgot to bring my 3 shrimp cocktails at the same time. ( No, I didn't send a letter to the President of Celebrity " looking for " compensation for my " inconvenience "). And, ok , it's bragging----- I won a putting tournament in 2012 and received a beautiful towel, er, t shirt which reminds me of cruising every time I wash my car. That only one couple that we met pulled out her iphone to show us a 10 minute video of their 3 yr old granddaughter's dance recital. ( The little girl only fell 3 times because she got dizzy doing twirls and waved at " everyone " throughout ). And finally--- I never once could find a " lame duck " reason to stand in line with a whole bunch of " jerks " removing their gratuities !!!
  10. LOL-- There was a guy on our recent cruise ( Equinox ) that could have used your " coaching ". He set a new record for being the " Drunkest in the shortest time on board " !! He was also " recognized " for his bravado in challenging folks 25+ yrs older than him to fist fights. His judgment ( very poor ) in using verbal abuse towards the same folks did not prove anything since most of the older folks wore hearing aids. Apparently, The Captain ( don't know his name ) "ordered " Complimentary packing of his luggage and sent him a " Good bye " letter. Being a nice man, the Captain ( don't know his name ) arranged " priority disembarkation " at the first port even though the guy was not staying in a suite. LOL-- He's probably suing Celebrity for " Wrongful Dismissal ".
  11. Just for a little humor--- no disrespect intended. That would work as well as : Leaving a $100 ( US ) on the floor with a sign that says " Please don't touch ". Leaving a $100 ( Canadian ) on the floor that says " Please replace with a $100 ( US ) " Leaving a sign outside the OVC that says " Be respectful of others -- keep your %^$%^& hands out of the food-- don't taste something and drop it back onto the tray if you think no one is looking-- etc. A few signs that will work : " Please don't hog lounges and place used towels in the bins ". " Gratuities appreciated with room service deliveries after 1 am even though Gratuities are included in your booking" and the " best " one---- " Please don't stare at the old fart ,with the etc, etc, in a bikini , wearing a Rolex , and kisses him every 5 minutes---- it's his granddaughter "
  12. Good for you for posting this--- It's the BEST post in a long time and well overdue !! Lots of the crap recently on CC----" Is there children's books in the library " , or, " The size of the lobster tails", or, " Anyone know the personal email/phone number of etc.etc !! ( If I knew it, would you expect me to post it on a site like this ) ???? Bonne journee--- Have a nice day .
  13. I wouldn't worry about it as there are 4 MDR's to select from. Since you prefer to have dinner in a dining room rather than the buffet, just go to any one you choose and I'm sure you will be accommodated. I assume people make reservations for a specific dining room at a specific time then change their mind. You might be given a beeper and have to wait a few minutes. ( For us it's more enjoyable to be served in a dining room then having dinner in the OVC ).
  14. Very good !! '' Better idea " --- Not really --- " Suggestions " ? I'll give it a try: Make sure your " complaint " is genuine ,not that you are just trying to get "something". " My air conditioning was too cold/hot "--- forget it---you get nothing " There was noise from the chairs moving on the pool deck above our cabin "--- you get nothing. " No kids books in the library "--- you get nothing. " My Waiter forgot to bring my , etc etc , which caused us to miss the Newlywed Game" --- Now, you're talking--- That's serious ----You are entitled to a Complimentary Cruise Certificate --- Make sure you complain to the " right person/department ". LOL--- Don't complain to the Captain about the size of the shrimps. Think ---- What would you do if you received this call ? " Post slammers "---- The same ones all the time--- you get to know who's who pretty quickly--- social media , on occasion, is not your friend. Finally, some of the treads /topics on CC ARE absolute nonsense and do get well deserved " reactions " from post slammers.
  15. " find a table for 2 "------ Excellent --we learned that " years " ago on the first night of a cruise. After the : " Where ya from ? Gotta be real cold up there " ? " How many cruises ya been on " ? " Everyone speak French up where ya live " ? Then during dinner the " gentleman " ( ? ) expressed his feelings about things that were not appropriate ( won't go into that ), and all of a sudden we didn't feel like desert and left. Since then we request a table for 2 and 99% of the time enjoy chatting with folks nearby as the tables are very close together. We still keep in contact with a few couples. LOL-- Come to think of it, I would have liked to sit at a table directly beside that " Old fart " with , etc etc. --- There I go again !!
  16. Good point !! " Expectation " --- As in " Me, Me, and Me again " ? Lately it appears the there are many Topics on CC that have absolutely no interest to 99% of us , oops, meant to say me. ( No need, I get it-- " So, Don't read them " !!! ). There's one today that does give some " thought " (?? ) regarding " whether there are children's books in the library " ---- Umm , suggestion---- Bring some. LOL--- There's another one that has the record for the Most Pages and is repeated every time a CCer books a cruise 3 years down the road --- No, it's not " What flavor of gelato is your favorite " or " My lobster tail was too small " or " I was on hold to complain that my waiter forgot, etc,etc ". Bonne journee -- Have a nice day
  17. What ??--Who ??--- Me ?? -- Would I do something like that ?? LOL--- Is that nice ?? Ok--- Guilty !! I was " taught " by the " Best"---- Yes, it was -- Oops, gotta keep his name a secret--- Hint---- He was working on the ship--- the Maitre'd --- all he did was ask for our cabin number and smiled/winked ( true story )--- and, the next thing I remember was a phone call to our cabin with " Good news, we are able to accommodate you etc, etc ". Guess who was there to greet us when we arrived at the restaurant ?? LOL--- It's all part of the fun ( $$ ).
  18. I agree--- I'll bet $ 100 ( Canadian ) that they do save space for " sweets ( $$$ )" that come with onboard " reservation cancellations " ( ?? ). Some people think it's a bribe --others enjoy their dinner and look at it as " What's an extra $ 200 "??
  19. No worries, you won't pass out-- eat 6 donuts on the way to the cruise. Don't forget---Ya gotta " beat 'em " for an extra plate of 9 pieces of pizza or, or whatever you eat.
  20. There have been many treads/posts re Specialty dining reservations--- Lots of 'em. Someone ( I forget who ) mentioned ( many times ) that if a day and time is not available on line, then, as soon as you board the ship go straight to the restaurant and speak to the Maitre'd. ( Forget about " racing " to the OVC ). Give him/her your cabin number, and most likely there will be a cancellation and you will be accommodated. Remember to say Thank You ( $$ ). LOL-- I wish I could remember who posted it.
  21. It's all for " fun "--- same as my repeated sooooo many times of my jealousy of the " old fart " travelling with his 32 yr old granddaughter ( ?? ). LOL---I'm pretty sure it was his granddaughter because the Rolex was pre-loved, otherwise he would have been stuck buying a new, latest model Rolex for his new latest model Any bets that she still has the watch and he doesn't have her ?
  22. Yes--- I called it lucky for me that the guy with the walker was standing too close to the hole.
  23. You are talking to a former Golf Putting Champion from 2012 -- I forgot which ship or even who the Captain was, but the finals were " brutal " !! Talk about pressure--- There I was against a few other guys ( one had a cane, another a walker , and a guy " claiming " to be a 6 hcp ( so, I told him I was a 4 ). Lucky for me, my putt hit the wheel of another guy's walker and bounced into the hole. I had the choice of a Celebrity water bottle or a t shirt with a big X on the front. To this day, the t shirt soaked in hot water still takes the bugs off the windshield of my car.
  24. That's a fantastic review---What a pleasure that you shared this -- Excellent, concise, and to the point especially re your GD's lactose intolerance and the overall service provided throughout the cruise !! I would like to see more reviews like this instead of : --No chocolate cake---I'm leaving Celebrity --Will I hear noise if we're under the OVC, pool, theater or the upside down pineapple cabins ? --If it's raining would you close the window, etc.etc. -- And, my favorite---- Nope, better not go there " again" !!
  25. "8. No escalators for nights where you got laid either although maybe there should be especially if you are sailing solo " That's what I call " Insulting "---- asking a question like that makes me feel like a loser -- You put that on because the " winner " for sure would be that " old fart with the 32 yr old " that I mentioned once or over 50 times !!! Can we ( not me for sure ) get extra points if we remember the Captain's name on every cruise, your favorite bar tender, or who won the golf putting tournament in 2012??
