  1. I received the instructions from Regent yesterday and they are pretty clear that self testing (a test you do yourself, not a proctored test) is acce
  2. if your preferred tour is full, asked to be placed on the waitlist. It most times will clear, particularly on the longer tours.
  3. We did a great evening pub crawl tour with Regent in Belfast. This was years ago and my husband still is talking about it. There were about 20 on the tour. We went to 3 different pubs. Also did good regular Regent tours in Kirkwall--an archeological tour and a hiking tour. In Waterford, we did the Regent tour to the crystal place. Could have easily done on our own, but we pretty much just used Regent to transport us there and back. Once we got there, we did our own thing. We actually tend to do that a lot--let Regent transport us but do our own thing once we get there. l
  4. Also no restrictions on bringing toiletries. I used regular sunscreen like I always do. And my normal skincare products, etc.
  5. They gave us very nice super high quality masks and snorkels, which you get to keep.
  6. What happened to you is my big worry. Don’t want to be stuck away from home and having to quarantine.
  7. South Georgia is one of my favorite places ever! Don’t miss it if at least possible.
  8. I have never been on a Regent free excursion that had 60 people. And I have been on a whole lot. Usually 20-30 people, but often less, even the “free” ones. We have been on some where we were just in a small group of 8-10.
  9. Well this is annoying, but I am at least now warned and will bring some self tests for George and myself to do prior to embarking on March 28. I will bring extra, just in case of false positive.
  10. enjoying your posts so much! They bring back great memories. I hope the crew member is ok. I agree with you and your husband about kayaking in Antarctica. While I have kayaked before quite a bit in Alaska and in topical areas, I felt that Antarctica was just too remote for me. My husband went and had a great time, but I think I would just have been stressed out about.
  11. The entire ship is very stable and quiet. But you will hear the zodiacs being put in the water in just about any cabin. We were mid ship and could hear them. Never heard any noise from hallway or elevator though. There is very little motion anywhere onboard.
  12. We are on that cruise, and on that excursion I believe. Look forward to meeting you there. We always go for the excursions that involve more walking when possible.
  13. Our first Regent cruise . We sailed Istanbul to Athens with our boys who were 12 and 17 at the time. We booked 2 cabins side by side and let them stay in their own room. They loved it. The housekeepers even commented on how polite they were. The dining room was the most beautiful I have ever been in. No real theater—it was an odd area. But we loved that ship.
  14. Finally got a chance to catch up and read the entire thread. Wendy and David, so glad you finally got to do another cruise! As far as groups on board, there are a couple of different varieties. The TA groups and alumni groups tend to be fine. The members are paying for their own trip which makes a difference. We have been a part of TA group many times, and most people outside the group don't even realize there is a group onboard with the exception of a couple of venues being closed a few times for group events. The incentive groups are a whole other ballgame, and I would avoid those like the plague if there were a way to know about them ahead of time. Those include people who have never cruised before or only done mass market, and the open bar is a big problem with some of the group.
  15. We are fans of the Navigator as well--just book a cabin on deck 6 forward and you won't have issues with vibration while you sleep. You will feel it from time to time, particularly in La Veranda and Prime 7, but it doesn't bother me when I am up and about..
  16. I like the idea of the crab cakes for a main course. I always end up eating too much and get full before the main course in P7.
  17. The advantage to cruising, either ocean or river, is that you only have to unpack once, and that most of your travel time is at night. If you do a land trip, you are in multiple hotels, maybe a different one every night or two unless you decide to just stay in one place and explore around there. We have done all 3 types of trip. Cruising is now our preference, though we still do the occasional land trip, and every time we do, I end up wishing we had done a cruise instead. I think the Med is ideal for cruising because you can be in an interesting port every day. Regent prices seem high, but they really are truly all inclusive. We have done Oceania also, and while the quality is there, after you add in everything that you have to pay extra for, there is little to no difference in price if you are comparing comparable cabins. On Regent, you can go with the lowest cabin and be perfectly fine.
  18. What Portolan explained is correct. What matters is the booking number, not the account number. If you have the same reservation booking number, which hopefully you do, then go into one or the other of your accounts. You have to manually add the cruise after you are logged into the account. Then you will be able to make reservations for both persons. I do this all the time for my husband and myself. Now if you have different reservation booking numbers, it is more difficult. You can add the other person to dinner reservations on line, but you will have to call Regent or your TA about the excursions.
  19. From what OP has said, I think Regent would be fine for her daughter. They have the kids club program in the summer in Alaska. My boys were able to sit through long meals within problems at that age and enjoyed them, often ordering things much more adventurous than I would have. My 2 grandbabies, both 22 months old, sit through long meals in restaurants all the time without issues, because they have been taught to from the get go.
  20. Agree with Zquese--love trip reports and food porn. Hope you are able to post.
  21. We did the around Iceland cruise on Cloud in 2019. Hope your weather is better than ours as it rained most of the time. We missed a few ports because of the weather and were wet and soggy in several of the others. They did provide parkas which were needed more for rain protection than cold. No formal nights.
  22. Robin was the best! We were fortunate to sail with her several times. George drove her crazy with his intentional wandering off, but she dealt with him quite well. We will miss her greatly.
  23. Loving following along with your journey. We did Antarctica in January 2020–immediately before the covid lockdowns started. It is such a special place.
