Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Welcome back to NYC! (or is it, sorry - your back, as in vacation is over?) Thanks for this semi-live. It was very helpful for me. I am getting on later today, so I give a virtual "high five" to you as you get off and we are getting on. mking8288: Would you mind giving your thoughts on what to expect weather-wise for the Getaway for the next 8 day, PC, GSC, Bermuda itinerary on its March 10 sailing page? I would really appreciate that. nmuller328: No biggie on the Bermuda thing. I'm in a big group on the Mar 10 sailing, and not many of us think we will be getting to Bermuda.
  2. Still loving the review Pete. Great job. My last full day at sea, I'm parking on the waterfront if I am allowed. I will have winter gear. I'm on tomorrows sailing. We are scheduled for Bermuda on Thursday March 16. I saw the forecast, and it looked a bit ugly out toward Bermuda around the 16th and temps only in the 60's. I am more than fine with a day at Nassau or to a lesser extent, Miami, like the last 8 day before Pete's. Bermuda can be for another time for me. A warmer place would be better.
  3. Leaving Friday on the 8 day. Can you please tell me how you were notified about the Bermuda cancellation?
  4. I don't know if this helps, but cruise mapper shows Carnival Horizon and Carnival Freedom are there now. I don't know if Amber Cove can handle a 3rd ship or not.
  5. I appreciate your feedback and everyone else on the topic. Does reporting bad or unsafe or unruly behavior require a 1 hour wait at guest services, or would any crew member be able to report a bad situation more efficiently? I didn't mean to sound like "Mr. Bravado" in my last post. I just have two special needs college aged kids, who by appearance, look normal. I sometimes may be too overprotective, but I won't throw away the entire cruise because of it. I can left a lot roll off my back as long as nobody is getting hurt.
  6. PistolPete13 - That is incredible. I hope your videos and stills come out looking great. That sounds like a bucket list adventure!
  7. I'm on my first sailing with NCL (and by extension, the Getaway) on March 10. Thank you all for your comments. I feel like I have a better idea on how my vacation will go. Thank you especially to PistolPete13 and everyone on board. I am getting a feel for what it is like before stepping foot onboard and starting my vacation. Two comments so far have me a little troubled. "A threatening manner with a roving group of punks (blocking stairs and probably elsewhere)", and the "Entitled passenger who expected his drink at his table when he came back from the island." I think PistolPete13 needs to give this species a name. As for punks, Usually my size intimidates them. But if they are stupid, they may pick the wrong person to mess with. It's my vacation. Leave me alone. And if you don't leave me alone, bad things may happen (to you). I am not looking for a fight, especially on vacation, but bad behavior is everywhere. I'm not talking about a Carnival Magic, June 2022 riot, but man, I don't want to deal with roving bully-punks.
  8. With 3 gluten free members in my family, your request does not seem strange at all. At least, to our family, ingredients can be the difference between a nice meal and a trip to a hospital.
  9. Thank you. I'm on the next sailing and did not know how to find total number of guests. March 10 - 8 day sailing is I think, going to have a lot of college people on board. I'm guessing that because both of my boys are in different schools and both are off for spring break. I'm not sure what to expect. I am loving this review as well as Dorhead1230's review last sailing. I have Morderno reserved and I am looking forward to photos.
  10. I'm starting to wonder if this vibration is why the ship has not hit top speed (and getting late to ports) in a while now. Or are they conserving fuel?
  11. any idea how many guests are on this sailing? And how would one figure that out if the porters are not saying (saw that in a different thread)?
  12. My two boys are in college. I had graduation cruises scheduled for both of them, and they were cancelled due to Covid, so I gave up and went a different direction. So, because of my boys going, March 10 fits in their schedules for spring break. I am sure it will be busy, maybe not 4800 busy.
