Garry, love your blog. I like your writing style. I love love love your photos but most of all I really am enjoying your frank, this is how it is, way of describing your experiences. You don't sugar coat it. My DH and I were to of been on this cruise as well. Since we had already been to South America and Europe many times it was no longer an experience that excited us but I am so happy that you and Arlona are enjoying the trip. Continued safe travels and calm seas.
Diana
Thanks, Diana. Glad you are enjoying it. It is my way of remember what/where/when we did everything. I forget on a 7-day cruise, let alone 152 days! 🙂

When we did the WC in 2019 captain Olav said he was 62, I believe. I think maybe 40 years at sea is a better bet.
The cadet said 60 years at sea - I expect he's just wowed by the Captain. I updated the post to reflect that, and yes, I expect it's more like 40+ years.

How old is the Captain if he has been at sea for 60 years?

With modern vacuum systems, when experiencing repeated system outages in a zone, most of them are caused by pax flushing material that should not be flushed.
As I have pointed out in a couple of previous posts, two things go into a cruise ship toilet - toilet paper supplied by the ship and anything that comes out of your body. Between that and the pictogram of items NOT to flush on the inside of the toilet lid, you'd think people would get it. But no...

Can I ask which room you are in. We will be boarding the Star in September and hoping it is not the same room.
We were in 4029 when we had the initial issues early on and those were specific to our room and I'm sure have since been fixed. The issues lately have been systemic and not related to our room.

He is a triplet. One brother is a captain for Viking and the other is a cargo ship captain.

Thank you to all who are blogging and posting about your adventure! I am really enjoying reading about your journey.
Question for those cruising - how many days at sea had you been in a row before deciding to do a World Cruise? How do you deal with prescriptions/medications?
We had done 21 days in previously. As for an prescriptions, it took the threat of a lawsuit for CVS to finally agree to send me six months of meds. It was really a pain. They had no concept of "I'm on a ship for 152 days".
