I finally got to Playa Uvas, last week, it was as good as I had heard. Carmen welcomed us and everything was ready to begin our activities. My kids took the kayak tour and my hubby and I had a massage with Luz that was very relaxing, we lounged by the beach and had drinks, got in the ocean for a little while, the water was beautiful. the kids came back from their tour very excited because they had seen a lot of fish. We had lunch around the pool, the food was excellent and the service first class.
muchas gracias amigos de Uvas.
im glad you have a nice day with us

Is the Ecstasy docking on Saturdays in Cozumel?
Yes it is. It docks next to the Fantasy at Punta Langosta Pier.

Hello BeadBabe
the water temperature is changing daily due to the cold fronts we get this season even though we operate tour on daily basis and the guests are happy with the water conditions. in case you are a warm water person, try to do the snorkel tour at 11am or noon when the water is nice and warm ...... the water are mostly no deeper then 6-8 feet and they warm pretty fast.

My wife and I will enjoy our day with you and your staff in 10 days. What type of Sunscreen must we use because we are in the Marine Park?
Can the sunscreen just say natural, or, no oil? Aveena brand says no oil.
Are there any brands that we can buy up here in Texas?

this note was post by SkyeOfTheStorms and i think will answer your question very good
a note about sunblocks
Hola everyone. Just to clarify, the primary threat to marine life is the PABA ingredient in sunscreens. If you have a bottle that clearly reads "no PABAs" then you should be fine - this is what they are looking for on the labels. Coppertone makes one called "Oil Free Waterproof" that is PABA-free (and says "no PABAs") and does well when you're in the water alot. It's $9 at Walgreens and Wal-Mart.

yes you are right, im gonna explain a little more about of this issue
Cozumel’s reefs formations are part of the second biggest reef system in the world, that starts on the northeast of the Yucatan peninsula and ends in the Gulf of Honduras. most of Cozumel’s reef formations are part of a protected Marine National Park , that starts after Puerta Maya Carnival´s pier and ends in the southeast point of the island.
When we say Playa Uvas is "inside the Marine National Park of Chankanaab Reef". That refers to the ocean part of Chankanaab Reef, and not to Chankanaab Park...which is a separate entity about 300 yards down the beach. You'd need to leave Playa Uvas, and pay a separate entry fee to enter Chankanaab Park.
about the credit cards
in Playa Uvas we accept Visa or MC , vendors and the store accept cash only

How is the actual beach here? Is it a nice sandy neach...or more ironshore?
Thanks
Kristen1206:
I would call it coarse, dry white sand. Not white powder...but not dirty Gulf of Mexico sand either. You couldn't make sand castles with the sand at Playa Uvas, but it is a quality sand made up of specks of coral and the disentigrating reefs that are right offshore of Playa Uvas.
The water is clear, and on calm days you feel like you're flying in the clear kayaks because you can see the ocean's bottom as you glide along. Since Playa Uvas is on the "tame" side of the Island and faces the mainland of the Yucatan, (as opposed to the "wild" side that faces away from the mainland) the turbulence is minimal, unless it's stormy.

The snorkeling is better and better every day. The coral is recovering from the damage of Hurrican Wilma, and the fish generally feed from very early in the morning to noon. During those hours you will see a lot, but at siesta time when the sun is very hot, 50% of them are out of sight, having their mid-afternoon rest.
un saludo!!

Jelly fish close to shore season is from July to September, do you know jelly fish are the food turtles eat when they come to nest and put their eggs in Cozumel beaches?......when i asked for answer your question, a cozumel fisherman told me, so lets try not to eat turtle and them will eat all the jellies. :D

with the purchase of beach pass 1 or pass 3, is there a two hour time limit on the open bar?
Beach pass 1, 2 or 3 , all beach passes are all day open bar , those two hours time limit were for an old package not available anymore.
there a difference if we come to Uvas on our own, not on a ships tour?
the difference is that we offer different packages than the ones cruiselines offer, but the services are the same
Is there an option for open bar for all day?
beach passes 1, 2 & 3 are open bar all day included in the price
can we order just off the menu rather than purchasing the lunch option?
You can order off the menu rather than purchasing the lunch option but it will be at restaurant prices. the lunch menu choices chicken or beef fajitas or fish filet plate are for beach pass 1 and beach pass 2, great value for a set menu.

Depends on date you are coming, sometimes there are 5 or 7 ships at port and Uvas club is ¾ ….. we take advance resrvations and charge an entrance fee, so we don’t get as many people as free entrance beaches, if the day you are coming happens the club is full, people will not be in the same area, they are divided in the different activities, doing the clear kayaking or snorkeling at the reef, or relaxing at the beach or in the lounge pool garden area….. Hope this answer your Q.
