Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. This post may be of interest to you: Rumor has it that foam is coming to the rescue this summer.
  2. It depends on the ship/cabin. Most of the 3rd person beds are sofas (someone who has slept on one will need to chime in as to comfort). However, there are some inside cabins (only on R-ships) with pull down (from ceiling) beds.
  3. On the ship you will have access to text/phone/data using WiFi calling (as thebsinmiss said) with no add-ons to your plan. Off the ship, T-Mobile Essentials has international texting included (I'm sure all of your countries are covered, but always good to double check on their site). You can also just pay $5 per day for the International Pass if you will only use it a few times when off ship. $50 seems reasonable though, just to avoid the hassle, if you'll be using phone/data on most days off ship.
  4. If you want marketing, check out the "dressy" jeans with what looks like a coat of shellac or the ones with sequins. They remind me of a costume we might have worn in a dance recital.
  5. I saw examples of "cocktail party" jeans the other day, but did not post since I didn't want to start this topic yet again, but here is what are considered "cocktail & party jeans" by a (SE?) US-based women's clothing store: I have seen similar for men at a Seattle-based department store, but don't want to take the time to find them.
  6. @ronrick1943 I will confirm that the Marriott Waterfront in Seattle is as easy as it gets for access (even beating the extremely close-in hotel in Vancouver due to distance walked for luggage drop-off and check-in). We used it for car storage in June 2023 and the south end of the cruise terminal is literally across the street; there is a light-controlled pedestrian crossing at the hotel's entrance. The baggage drop-off is at the north end of the (not large) cruise terminal, and the check-in entry is mid-way. Even dropping off your own luggage is less than one block from the hotel (my estimate...Google can tell you exactly). If you are staying at the hotel, I would expect that they frequently deliver baggage directly to the cruise terminal. I "google-walked" ahead of time just to make sure I knew where and how far everything was as my spouse was having a foot issue at the time.
  7. Same here...I tried them on a whim, but now that O has decent gin, I'm happy to stick with my G&T or gimlet (< half-sweet, extra lime juice...apparently typical O drinkers love sugar, or at least corporate thinks they do).
  8. From what I recall Regatta has a couple of chairs and maybe a small table in the laundry room, and Riviera had a small couch, but that was before the remodel.
  9. I was Rick Steves-ing it before Rick Steves was a thing 😉 (thank the Boy/Girl Scouts and eccentric parents). I do have his clothesline and some luggage...quality stuff.
  10. I only like to have things like jeans, t-shirts, socks, etc. (i.e., hardy fabrics) laundered by unknown facilities. Even when using the laundry room, I don't trust some of my clothes in the machines. There is usually a sink in the laundry room (not sure if all have one), and I've done hand washing of things like silk and linen in our bathroom sink...so retro 😉
  11. You fortunate spring time cruisers! I teach one stinkin' class during spring semester and have to refrain from cruising for 4 full months...the sacrifices I make to enlighten younguns. Just to be on topic...I found all of those particular drinks a bit sweet for my taste, although some of the combos were nice and could probably be adjusted to be less sweet. Oh, I do recommend the O-themed drink in Baristas (and I think elsewhere but can't recall the name)...decadent coffee drink...yum!
  12. I usually go to Happy Hour in Horizons. If it was in the Horizons bar menu, it was included in June and September 2023. But yes, changes happen (and bartenders vary)...I'll find out in a few weeks 😉
  13. I have received the drinks 2-for-1 at Happy Hour on the menu above on my last two cruises. Also, the drink of the day (or as I liked to call it, Happy Hour all day), is no longer is offered.
  14. Did you ask about cancelling your prepaid grats and drink package instead? They are not listed in the cancellation section of the Guest Statement or Ticket Contract, but is there one on your invoice for these items? Other similar items have cancellations of 36 hours ahead or at-embarkation for 100% refund but without documentation, who knows. I have never paid in advance for grats/bevvies, but I have paid in advance for shorex (without a package or above and beyond a package). In that case, the prepaid items (shorex) and any onboard purchases (drinks, spa, grats, etc.) show as a debit on my onboard account, then any OBC and credit card pre-payments show as credits. If I owe, it's paid with my credit card; if I have a credit, it is refunded to me (unless the balance is non-refundable OBC which it won't be since it is used-up first before refundable OBC (used 2nd) then real-money (credit card or cash)). As an aside, when booking onboard (or FCC), the transaction is completely separate from you onboard account (i.e., the deposit will not show as a debit on your account and will be charged to your credit card directly).
  15. It looks like you are fairly new to the CC forums so I'll provide some info on how to use the (not terribly friendly) search-system. For this question, I suggest going to the search box in the upper right (assuming you're on a computer browser), type "regent" in the search-box and make sure to use the pull-down menu to choose "This Forum" instead of "This Topic"; click on the search-icon. On the next page below the search box (where it still says "regent"), click on "regent in content titles only" so that all of the time regent is mentioned are eliminated. This will leave you with more than enough opinions on the subject. 😉
