Ignore the Concierge benefit. We've never been able to figure out what it is. Meal vouchers are now good at all specialty restaurants, but not the same one twice. Take advantage of the free laundry. One per platinum. Bring garbage bags and tape to maximize. You now board before group one, regardless of when you arrive at port. You save a few bucks on shore excursions. You can book specialty dining 125 days out, which means you get what/when you want.

Yikes!! Glad to hear you made it to SD. Hopefully smooth sailing from here. 😎 Give Dad our best! I have a soft spot for grumpy old guys. I see one in the mirror several times a day.

New to the Haven Suites, What can we get?
ChiefMateJRK replied to phauenstein's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
Covid transmission is a very real possibility everywhere. -
I think you both are missing the fact that almost everybody eating in the specialty restaurants are using either the FAS credits or Platinum (and above) credits. There are likely a few others that have bought the additional two specialty dining credits at a (somewhat) reduced price. It may cause a blip in the free venues, but I highly doubt it will be meaningful. With all the free meals being handed out, it may in fact be that they want a few less folks eating in the specialty restaurants.

Why? Is it to appear clever? Why not just tip common cash for outstanding service and make it all about thanking the person who is being tipped instead of about the person doing the tipping?

Is there any dress code at all in the dining room?
ChiefMateJRK replied to ontheweb's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
Actually, I fully comply with the dress codes. I have pants and closed toe footwear. I've shared this for the benefit of other relaxed people who value comfort and couldn't care less what others on the ship (or on this forum) think. Why are you so concerned with this? -

Not at all. You must have misunderstood my comments. You asked why I read/posted this thread. I answered your question. It amuses me that people on the forum get worked up over people who don't want to strictly adhere to silly dress codes. I think I answered that for you three times now. I'm not sure how else I can help you out. I honestly don't spend my vacation playing fashion police on a cruise ship. Glass houses and all.... 🤣 -

Thanks, friend. Apparently, responding to a meaningless thread on the internet is the same as wasting my vacation policing what others are wearing in dress code inhibited venues on a cruise ship. Logic doesn't work for some. For us old retired guys, I think we get it. 😎 -

I was talking about cotton sweats and slippers. Who said anything about a three-piece suit?? Yikes!! -

I already answered that. It amuses me. 🤣 On the ship, sure, they could be dressing the same as me. Good for them! I mainly share my preferences in response to posters who act as dress code police. I didn't think you were that up tight, but I may have been mistaken?? -
Thanks for agreeing with me. 😎

Did you miss this man's posts about sweat pants and slippers? Men have the same options. Some of my buddies here on the forum @complawyer @cruiseny4life et al exercise them. Some refuse. Some secretly desire to but their DW, etc. prohibit it. I met her halfway last cruise and put on some twill pants and shoes for our first Le Bistro dinner. Second one? Nope. I'm on vacation Dangit!! To your point, not everybody considers my clothes "appropriate", but I never asked them....😎 -
Gratuities/Daily Service Charges increasing!!
ChiefMateJRK replied to shof515's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
Sounds like it's time for a new TA. -
You can carry it off yourself. Leaving it out the night before doesn't get it on the transfer bus. It just gets it into the ocean of luggage that you have to sort through. I take one large suitcase with wheels. It is zero effort to just roll it off myself (and I'm old and not in great shape). That said, I never book early flights (just nervous that way), so I don't have to fight the crowds on elevators who just can't wait to end their vacations.

Sweat pants: There may be a more comfortable way to pass the dress code police, but I highly doubt it. These things are 100% cotton and feel like PJs. 😎 -

I usually just come into these threads to brag about wearing slippers and sweats in Le Bistro. It amuses me. 🤣 I don't ever recall paying any attention to how others were dressed. That's my story, and I'm sticking with it because it is 100% true. 😎 Scout's honor. (disclaimer: while I was a boy scout for a couple of weeks, I certainly didn't approach the honor of being an Eagle Scout - not that there's anything wrong with that) -

I've never paid any attention to how others are dressed. Why would I care? -
I'm fairly certain that every cruise "has covid and or flu going around." Unless a person is otherwise highly compromised, it is highly unlikely that an ambulance would be involved.

I seriously doubt that HIPAA provides any protection for third parties spreading rumors about nameless people on the internet.

That's the exhaustive list. All other NCL ships have observation lounges.
-
I generally just have them reprice so the deposit still applies. That said, I have had to cancel and rebook to upgrade to a better promo (2 bonus latitudes points per night vs. 1). I'm describing pre-final payment changes. Post final payment FCC I've obtained once and didn't get once. I've learned that a phone call improves my success rate.

Epic and POA also lack observation lounges. I'll avoid the six non-HI ships. I will sail the POA again just to revisit HI. I don't consider that one a "real" cruise.
