  1. No. Bring your standard converter. The Viking ships are equipped with both std US 110 V plugs and the European plugs. If you plan on going on any over-land journeys, you may need a US-to European converter. I suggest you bring a back up power bank for your iPhone, just in case. You don't want to be in the situation where you can't take photos at the end of a long excursion.
  2. Unfortunately, there was no sign of the Null Island buoy, but we were here.
  3. We on the Viking Sky should send out a tender to attach a Viking flag to the Null Island buoy and leave a message in a bottle for the next passing ship [the Viking Neptune] to collect.
  4. I'm told that at Coffee Chat this morning that the Captain announced a change in the navigational route for the Viking Sky. We are changing course so that we cross the Prime Meridian at the same time we cross the Equator. Apparently, there is a buoy in the middle of the ocean to mark that spot. @Penspack tells me that buoy marks the location of "Null Island."
  5. I just checked my passport and counted 17 unique new stamps associated with this world cruise, with just under 4 weeks to go. It looks like they try to fit as many as 4 stamps on a page... where ever they find an open spot. A country may enter both an entry stamp and an exit stamp in the passport and when they do, they try to put the exit/ departure stamp next to the entry stamp. Here are the stamps I identified: Komodo Indonesia entry Java Indonesia exit Vietnam entry Vietnam exit Samui entry Samui exit Phuket entry Phuket exit Richards Bay entry Sri Lanka entry Sri Lanka exit India entry (2 stamps) India exit Mauritius exit Mauritius entry Cape Town exit
  6. About a 4 hour delay in docking at Cape Town. Longer excursions were cancelled and Table Mountain excursion is going to the Histoy Museum instead. I’ll miss seeing the penguins.
  7. We didn't manage to see any giraffes during the included Huhluwe-iMfolozi Park excursion. Probably because all of the elephants were blocking the view. The included Huhluwe-iMfolozi Park excursion FAR EXCEEDED expectations. I highly recommend it.

  9. While we were in Saigon/ HCMC, my favorite excursion was a 3rd party Back of the Bike Tours excursion (www.BACKOFTHEBIKETOURS.com). This was a foody excursion. They picked us up at the hotel at 6:00 pm. We hopped on the back of their scooters and then were escorted through the frantic city traffic to 5 different food stops. IT WAS A BLAST! ... And the food was fantastic. We finished up around 10:30... back to the hotel maybe 10:50 or so. I definitely recommend it. There were three of us from the Viking Sky and we joined up with another dozen or so folks at the first food stop. Our drivers were Chau, Thao and Phung; three delightful young women. My driver, Chau, spoke English very well and was very communicative. At no point did I feel unsafe in the hectic scooter traffic... it just flows. If you're in town and have the evening free, DO IT!
  10. Would someone on the Neptune please post a photo of the booking form? NEVER MIND... Booking forms were just delivered to the staterooms on the Sky.
  11. For what it's worth, I scanned the excursion descriptions for the revised ports for the Viking Sky WC (Port Louis, Mauritius to Cape Town, South Africa) and included the summaries in a Word file. Here is a link to my entry on the Viking Sky WC forum: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2979887-live-from-the-viking-sky-ft-lauderdale-to-london-december-20-2023-may-6-2024/?do=findComment&comment=67025407

  15. We will be porting in Ho Chi Minh City, not Hong Kong. Still, I'm sure the same applies, despite being about an hour outside of the city and having to shuttle into the city.
  16. Just announced... We won't be able to port in Eden... winds are too high. We were approaching, but then I noticed we turned around. 10 minutes later the announcement was made by the captain. So we will now have a sea day and head towards Sydney. Happy Valentine's Day ❤️
  17. Live broadcast of the Super Bowl at 10:30 a.m. "Monday," if the satellite feed is functional; followed by a re-broadcast at 7:45 pm. Both in the Star Theater or you should be able to catch it on the interactive TV in each stateroom.🏈
  18. We were close enough that I could zoom in and read Viking Neptune and see people walking deck 2 And a few wildlife photos... A seal: A flock of birds taking off from the water to avoid being run over by the Viking Sky: and a penguin "flying" just beneath the surface of the water:

  20. We have veered to the North following the March of the Penguins... next stop Phillip Island... anchoring and 800 passengers will abandon ship via tenders to follow the March of the Penguins.
  21. Yep... Hobart was removed back on 1 July 2023 The Royal Hobart Regatta is a three-day event that runs over the weekend of the second Monday each February. The Monday is a public holiday for a large part of southern and eastern Tasmania. Just got the email from Viking cancelling Hobart, Tasmania and putting an extra night in Melbourne. There will be lots more changes before we see the Cutty Sark in Greenwich. Just the way it goes on sea voyages.🍹
