  1. Would make sense financially, make it a clothing optional area and charge $500 to get in. Couples only or no single men to not make it a sausage party. It would probably sell out to the Miami party crowd on the short weekend cruises 😂
  2. I personally hate the adult kindergarten that the present pool is. Loud DJ that is encoruraging all the drunk people in the pool "everybody clap your hands" "everybody says: Whay Oah!" Reminds me of children playing.BUT the pool is packed, so obviously enought people like it. I have loved South Beach since it was called Barefoot beach and is satisfied with the sea, beach and floating bar. All I need. If I want a pool party I will go to Vegas instead. Regarding the prices, as much as I dislike the raises on everything, just look at the over water cabanas, now at almost $4000 they are still sold out. Aqua park for more than $200? still long lines in there. I think that within a year the new adults only area in Coco Cay will also be over $200. Three weeks ago I was on the Anthem from the UK, drink package was over $100 per day if buying onboard and there was a long line of people waiting to buy on the Royal Esplanade, crazy. Lots of people in the casino betting $8 dollar per spin on the slots. My only conclusion is that the "recession" and harder economic times isn't visible on the cruise ships and that (most) of those people that still cruise have lots of money to spend. Those that are more, let me say "price sensitive" will stay at home and don't cruise at all. That way those that still cruise are spending as never before, regardless of the higher prices now compared to pre covid. I think that their primary market now is upper/middle class families, better have a family cruise once per year and paying $8000 for an inside on Icon than a Diamond plus that pays 1400 on an older ship and sails 4 times a year and drinks for free due to their loyalty status. Loyalty doesn't matter much when they sell out the ships to new cruisers, I actually think that they regret the double C&A point offer they had last year, it got me and tons more from Gold to Diamond within a year, and in my case, with only on 3 cruises in an inside. More profitable for them to have a line of new cruiser that wants to buy the drink package onboard. So far their strategy seems to have worked, the stock price is up about 50% this year alone. Do I like it? No, but in todays world no large corporate business seems to think more than 6 month in advance. Everything for the short time returns.
  3. In 2 weeks everything below $100 will be considered a bargain.. 😂
  4. Don't be angry at her, she just tipped the "standard" 25% 🤪
  5. This actually happened two weeks ago on my Anthem UK cruise. I was waiting in line and there was one American (or Canadian couple, hard for an European like me to tell the difference) before me and they got upset that the person in front of them removed their tips. "Did you hear that!? She removed her auto gratuities!" The woman said to her partner. I actually also heard it since she was only a few steps away from us all in the line. Highly anecdotial but it still happened. Not that it matter though. Each to his own.
  6. Congrats on getting two cruises on the same offer 😀 Me and my wife also got covid the last days on our 27th of August Anthem cruise.. as a matter of fact we are both at home sick now 😞 Third time for both of us and I had my 5th shot of the vaccine just 3 weeks before the cruise. As in your case, what was very strange was that my wife tested negative on the ship AND after at home while I testetd positive immediately at home (didn't do the test onboard since I was fine until the last evening when I felt my sore throat) Regardning the covid self tests, I belive that if they are a year old or more they don't detect the new covid viral viruses. My wife used an old test at home we had left from a year ago but I had my daughter go out an buy a new one for me and it was of a different brand also and it was positive immedeately. I can 't even imagine how many people that were ill on the ship that probably doesn't even bother testing anymore.
  7. Exactly, I usually take the time to floss my teeth at the Black Jack tables in the casino. "Do you pay for my cruise? it's very important to floss" is what I use to say when someone object.... 😉🤪
  8. I responded to PATRLRs post, not MIL76 which I think you are refering to. PATRLR had two full size monitors and a docking station for the computer, same setup as I have in my office. That needs 3 power outlets. Home I have just one monitor however a large 27"
  9. This is a great setup for remote work 🙂 Only problem on a cruise ship would be the power cords, you need at least 3 outlets and with the Royal policy of no extension cords/splitter it could be tricky?
  10. Very inconsiderate, I would atleast leave the closed mussels for someone else 😉
  11. Same here, I remember everyone talking about how good it was and made a note to myself to try it the first day, then I told my wife this and we went to Windjammer on Majesty 13 years ago and tried it and, it was like, what?? Do people consider this good...?
  12. Being by ourselves when working on distance is usually good (depending on what kind of remote work he does of course), no disturbance and many of us have daily contact several times with collegues by video or calls so there I see no loneliness. When he leave his room or workspace when work is done I guess it is a little easier to socialize and talk to people that are on vacation on a cruise ship than talking to random strangers at a Cafe..
  13. Not everyone considers eating healthy food, not drinking on weekdays, having a calm workspace where you won't be disturbed and can be productive a bad thing.. 😎 I get what you mean but you look at his cruising from a vacation perspective (as do I) but if he doesn't have any partner or children a work from home life can be pretty lonely and boring. I work 80-90% from home and even if I have both wife and 2 children I sometimes feel like I get restless not seing anything else than my house for two weeks. If I was single without anyone I could definately see his point. Beats being alone at home.
  14. That was not my intention, I didn't plan on using the soda package on the first cruise, not in the bars NOR on the machines, just using the cup on the second cruise
  15. You got it right 🙂 I am the OP and that was exactly what I was asking about and planning to do.
  16. Read again, that was not what I was intending to do. I plan to buy the soda package on my first cruise, not use it on that cruise but on the second one. So I don't see how that is taking something I did not pay for?
  17. Sir, you are absolutely correct, accept my apologies.. 😉 Second trip starts with a week in Athens, 31 oct, then going on the cruise that start the 6th of Nov, thats why I wrote October. I will explain all the details in the future so there is no more misunderstanding 😉
  18. I have also used both methods, one got approved and the other one got rejected, for the same cruise. Reason for the rejection was that my surname on file with Royal didn't match the name on my paper from my bank. Same name, but a a letter in the Swedish alphabet that is in my surname (å), doesn't match with the English alphabet. The Swedish letter "å" Royal translates it to an "a", (å=a) and therefore they said thait my surname didn't match the one on my bank statement. However a day later I got an emai saying that my OBC was approved, still don't know if the email or the subimitt form was the one that was rejected/approved
  19. I still have mine and my wifes unused from our Freedom 2017 cruise, but they are mixed up with our kids and I doubt that they will work now even if we could find out which were ours...
  20. Hey Hey Hey! Just to be clear, I never said that someone in their 80s shouldn't ride waterslides, just that people MIGHT look at them if they did, but with admiration in their eyes 🙂
  21. I second this. South beach is the best bar on the island IMHO, floating bar and everything that is needed close by.
  22. I am 50 and did the waterslides last year for the first time in 5 years (got a concussion when hitting my head, while doing it drunk when I was 45 😂) Not my favourite thing to to but no one will bat an eye if you do it. Maybe if you were in your 80s but not mid 50s for sure.
  23. Yes, I know that, on our last cruise we bought 2 DBP and 2 Soda packages. I didn't use my cup from the DBP until the last day and compared it to my sons, mine hade a later "end date" than his that he activated 6 days before I did.
