566 for me. During the Covid lockdown and cruise pause, someone here on CC built and shared an Excel sheet with counts that tracked total days, and total stops at each cruise port. No wonder I stay on the ship in St Thomas - seems I've been there 20 times. With plenty of free time back then, and an existing tracking of all my cruises (via the Shipmate app) I got it up to date. Not sharing for bragging purposes (nobody cares), just sharing that it is possible to get a count.

Slightly off topic, but with Halloween, and autumn in general, coming up shortly, now is a good time to find inexpensive and packable orange doo-dads to bring on your cruise. Example, I found an orange lei at the Dollar store, which works fine for me.

Someone on the HAL board keeps one. As you will read, bit#hing about groups on board is not limited to Celebrity. However, I wouldn't imagine there is a lot of binge drinking and rowdy behavior from those knitting groups.

The first time I was in PP, I wanted an overview, so I took a full day tour. We saw the fort, toured a rum factory, a cigar bar and cigar making demo and opportunity, organic chocolate factory, walked the downtown square, cathedral, shops, Umbrella Street, the Pink Alley. Had lunch at a wonderful local place and visited a local artist at his home. I loved it, saw and learned so much. Next visit, I wanted to see the statue, but had read that the sky ride was very weather dependent, so I took a tour that was in one of the open air busses up there. It was loads of fun, and a real experience. You will enjoy it. If you have time, do go through the forest/gardens park. I am so surprised (and sad for them) when I read posts from people who say there is nothing to do there, or who do not stray from the manufactured port area. It's a great port stop, IMO, lots to do and see. Plus , they take their tourism seriously, they want you there, and have a dedicated tourism police team to assist.

No. But there will be shared taxis to Maho at the taxi stand. Just follow the signs out of the shopping area. Let the dispatcher know where you want to go. It is a popular destination, so the van should fill up fairly quickly

It takes you from the port to town. That's it. Think of a backwards "C" (sort of). Port at the bottom, town at the top. You could walk around in about 20 minutes, or take the water taxi from tip to tip.

Also note that for Princess, it is faster and easier to enter the port from the north entrance, rather than using the main Eller St. entrance that you use for all the other terminals. I don't want to give erroneous directions, but your GPS or any maps app will get you there - Davie Blvd exit off 95, then to 17th St, as I recall, but do check.

In your case, then, it would make more sense to stay at one of the airport area hotels, since there is no real reason to be at the beach or the port after dark. Hotels there are more plentiful and are, in general, less expensive. They all have airport shuttles, many can hook you up with a service the next day to the port. Have breakfast, and book an early shuttle over. No stress, no frustration.

It's a small island, pretty relaxed, and no big hotels or resorts. No "day pass" needed. Walk left a little, pick a spot on the beach, rent a chair and umbrella, walk up to the closest rum bar (they are numerous along that stretch of beach) and order. Go back to your chair, go for a swim, repeat step 3. There are some free chairs in front of M'ville, but they are almost all in full sun, are tightly packed, and go quickly. No chance of getting one if you are the second ship to arrive. M'ville has a pool you can use, a swim up bar, and a DJ. Unless things have changed in the last few years, Jacks is just a beach bar. They used to have a cute Doodle that hung out on the beach, but he died.

Thanks for the correction. Not an MSC sailor, so I did not know. I do see references to Bimini all over the place in Cruise Critic, I think a lot of people truly don't know that it is in the Bahamas, or that the Bahamas have their own board.

I booked one on Friday. The $99 is also only for non-refundable deposits, according to my TA. That far out, I only do fully refundable.

I did this tour, but it was part of an all day thing, so I can't comment on location, other than that it was towards the end of the day, and quite close to the ship. Puerta Plata is not that big, tho not totally walkable. I do remember that the retail area was huge, so they may have what you are looking for. it's a nice tour, they age the rum on old barrels that they source from Jack Daniels, so it gives a different flavor. Lots of samples, of course I remember that part.

Have they fixed the misspelling of Havana? I've reported it on my last several cruise comment cards. "Havanna". SMH

I'm the first one to call out a suspected "pot stirrer" - to myself, don't want to get in trouble with the HAL mods by posting, but I think you all are being a little harsh here. If you follow this board, you'd see that this is a new cruiser - many of the questions they ask are answered after being on a ship just once. I've chuckled at some of the rookie questions, but have enjoyed reading this poster's obvious excitement about a first cruise. They have asked questions here starting with cabin type and location, booking, etc. I'm giving this one a pass, and saving my derision for the ones I know are just posting to cause controversy or a reaction. .

This. ^^^ Tho, judging by how often one hears "going up?", "going down?" on ships, not a lot of people know this, so its a good reminder.

Oh nice, must be a smaller ship. I have no experience with that trip, but they are quite a distance apart. Check the ferry schedules, maybe, or a private charter.
