Do you want to go to Jost Van Dyke, or Virgin Gorda, or both? Both are in the British Virgin Islands, and are reached from a ship docked at Tortola. Lots of threads about excursions to these islands under the Tortola page, just scroll down a bit from where you posted this.

You could always check the Melbourne area, a few exits south of the port. Nothing touristy at all about Melbourne. Mid range chains are represented at several of the exits. Daytona rates will be high in Feb around the car race dates. Orlando would be out of your way, driving from SC.

Do you recall when they added the pop up to the schedule? Sounds like not pre-cruise, for sure. Day of, boarding day, just watch the daily paper? 27 days on the Zaandam next year, Tamarind would be a welcome addition once or twice.

I enjoy these frequent door décor threads. So polarizing, and yet entertaining. I just had a thought that they remind me of the Kids On A Cruise threads. Side A - Nope, keep 'em away from me, they are nasty, ill behaved, snot nose cruise wreckers. Leave 'em home with Grandma. Side B - Not MY kids / grandkids. They are wonderful, experienced, cruising little angels. Your life (and that of the the crew) will be so much better for knowing them. The truth, as always, is somewhere in the middle. That's my point. All over the globe, street people, petty thieves, dopers, anyone looking to get up to no good know to go where there is a larger population of easy marks in a concentrated area. As a visitor, it's simply good to be advised and aware. Just like your caution about cab drivers in Antigua.

Agree. Plus, LBV is deep in the tourist corridor, and as such, subject to petty crimes - car break ins, pickpockets, etc.

Grand Turk is part of the Turks and Caicos British Overseas Territory, not a private island. Here is the page for it on CC, you might get more answers by asking there. I simply found it notable that the OP had started numerous polls in a short period of time, and all about previously discussed topics. Maybe OP just likes numbers, or is researching for some project or another.

This is your third poll in as many days. Did you just learn how to use this feature? This latest one needs another option "I've never been, but will draw possibly erroneous conclusions and pass judgement anyway". As I have mentioned before, one walks past the entrance to the water park at the end of the pier, but would hardly notice it unless looking for it. It is all landscaped , and is not obtrusive or even visible on the rest of the island.

Have you checked lodging review web sites? That would be the place to look, not a cruise related chat site. Hotels dot com, Trip Advisor.com, Kayak dot com, etc.

Bequia and St Vincent are discussed under Caribbean - Other. I’ve taken ship excursions via sailing catamaran from St Vincent to Bequia twice, and we did not stop anywhere on either one. You will see Moon Hole, but sailing by from the catamaran. It’s a fabulous trip, and highly recommended.

Water shoes are a good idea for all those natural westside beaches, like on Bonaire. Rocks and coral are what makes the snorkeling so good there. There is nothing to see snorkeling on a sandy beach. If you want plain sandy beaches, you can go to the manmade Mambo beach which is what a lot of cruisers do. Taxi to any of those (Puerto Mari, Cas Abo, Grote Knip) will be on the high side, approx. $100 or more r/t. You might enjoy an excursion, through your ship, or with Irie Tours, which used to have a full day trip that stops at several of the beaches. Or some rent a car and visit several on your own. I don't know of any scheduled bus that makes that route. Someone else will surely comment.

Bayhibe is across the island by Semana, no where near Puerta Plata. Puerto Plata is right on the coast, so there is a long stretch of beaches right along the main drag, like Long Beach. There are also resort beaches a bit out of town like Playa Dorado, although I believe this is where the ship beach excursions take you . Check TripAdvisor for more.
