  1. Silver line goes thru the same tunnel that car/truck traffic go through, so if there is a traffic disaster (and one of the tunnels is closed now so it's been pretty bad) the Silver Line is also affected
  2. $2.75 to $2.90 seems like a short term bandaid, $3 would make more sense and might buy an extra year before the next increase.
  3. I've seen NYC construction plans for decades. The issue of overcrowding happens rarely recently. Once it becomes a bigger problem perhaps a pier will be converted. But that is YEARS away, when larger ships start calling MCT their home. Can the MCT even berth a 5000 person ship? Raising prices makes much more sense than a wholesale acquisition, conversion and construction project. Please feel free to have the last word if you wish, I have said all I will about this subject
  4. The demand isn't there to convert other piers for overflow parking that happens only rarely. Of course they *COULD* do it, but there isn't a need
  5. This is correct, you are much more likely to be scammed than you are to find a safe, legal and convenient private rental in Manhattan
  6. Lots of existing threads. Do skim them and you will clear your worries away
  7. Right out the front door. You should Google it so you know a bit about it, how near it is, and how much history is involved
  8. The gate is open when the cruiseport is active. It is locked when there are no departures or arrivals as it leads to the parking lot and other secure areas
  9. I lived in Boston until last summer and I always saw plenty of cabs and ubers at the pier when we'd pass by on the way to Castle Island
  10. This could be good advice, depending on price. I've yet to see a cruise transfer to the airport that wasn't crazy priced for a couple. And worse for a larger party.
  11. Boston Light, the oldest manned Lighthouse in the US, is visible entering Boston Harbor. Probably 45-60 minutes prior to docking
  12. I did a quick check on Google Maps and quite a few options showed up. I don't trust their pricing, but you might want to check Kayak or similar or go right to the hotel sites and look at: Hyatt Regency on Lafayette Place Park Plaza in Copley Square Omni Parker House right on the Freedom Trail (very historic) Harborside Inn on the waterfront
  13. There will be taxis lined up at the airport like any major airport. They are all able to safely get you to your destination
  14. Check the reviews at TripAdvisor. It is very highly regarded. I don't have the Old Town map handy, if you do you can probably use google maps to find the distance.
  15. Fenway Park tours are popular. Bike tours along the Charles River. Art Galleries on Newbury Street.
  16. What is your date, how many beds do you need, and what is your budget?
  17. I think @PLee is confusing Sky Lagoon, which is on the outskirts of Reykjavik, with Blue Lagoon, which is near the airport 2 full days in Iceland? I'd book the Blue Lagoon for arrival day and use their transportation to get you from the airport to the Lagoon and on to your hotel. And on the 6th I'd take a Golden Circle or South Coast tour with a local provider. Reykjavik is a cute city, but the nature in Iceland is spectacular, and you won't really see it in the city or at Blue or Sky Lagoon (which are both great).
  18. Depends on what time your ship gets in and the day of the week. There is a tunnel to pass through to get to the airport and it carries lots of traffic on weekdays
  19. Just a note that the above is not a current MBTA map, it's missing the Green Line Extension (which won't come into play for the purposes of this thread) which is how I know it isn't current. I'm not sure what else might have changed since this one was published
  20. That is surprising to me. Did you do this during rush hour? Or on the holiday? I lived in Boston for 50 years and have a general idea of taxi and uber fares. And they are always higher than my estimate! 🙂
  21. I would take the MBTA Silver Line bus transit option to South Station then take the Free Transfer to the Red Line to Park Street Station
  22. From the cruiseport? I'd expect the fair to be quite a bit higher than that. You can go to the Uber app anytime to get a current estimate of the price.
  23. There are a few in town options. Ask on the Iceland forum at TripAdvisor for recent recommendations as Covid has caused some changes in options
