  1. When I did that tour May 2023 the bags went into a storage where they could stay until some time in the afternoon. 3 pm maybe? But they also have luggage storage for a reasonable fee an Anchorage airport. At least they did last year.
  2. A few months ago I think they were 3.50+20%, making 4.20. I didn't buy any, so not sure.
  3. My guess: Very few! If any! But either way, those people are probably just a "select" group of trouble makers. As in so many other situations.Their actions are not representative of the "people". Their opinions may be shared by many though.
  4. On some ships there is actually what is considered Starbucks cafés. Not just a café selling Starbucks. On thos ships gift cards and app works. I don't drink Starbucks myself, but I think the newer/bigger ships have "proper" Starbucks. For example Bliss.
  5. Hijacking the thread slightly: I have been told that only full Starbuck accept Starbucks gift card or app. However a person on another social media claims this is wrong and Starbucks gift cards are accepted even in the Java/Atrium cafes serving Starbucks. Can anyone confirm if this is correct or not?
  6. Add me to the list of people that love the food but would prefer to not have the show in Teppanyaki. First time it was fun. After that, not so much. Food is really nice though!
  7. As I said in the post before you, my experience is that it doesn't matter if you have used any of your minutes or not. What matters is how many days you are in the cruise. I have, since I made that post, travelled on Gem, Dawn and Bliss and have had the same experience. The upgrade price drops around $30 per day for a couple of days. (Different number of days on different cruises has been my experience. But at least two days.)
  8. According to terms and conditions it's balcony and up
  9. I have only done one TA. Rome to NY on Gem end of 2023. Fortunately I had good cell coverage whenever in port, but at sea... Well, it did test my patience at times! I only did very simple stuff. No streaming or anything like that. It worked, but sometimes very badly.
  10. as others have said, you will not be "punished" if you don't cancel. I tend to book a couple of extra dinners at my preferred time just to have a choice but I always try to do cancel the ones I won't go to out of consideration to others that maybr would like to book that time slot. I do this on the ship. And about false information on internet... Don't get me started... 😮
  11. Probably Aj dock, as @shof515 says. Free shuttle from there to the bus stop by the tramway. (When I was there in April we were the only ship in Juneau and we still docked at AJ Dock. It would have been nice to be docked downtown, but no such luck.)
  12. I agree! Being Swedish I would very much like to be able to cruise relatively close to home. But northern Europe cruises in general are very expensive. And although this cruise goes to places with low living costs (Baltic) it also goes to seriously expensive places (Scandinavia). And of course it's also supply and demand!
  13. No. But it has been possible to use iMessage without logging in to use minutes. It has been a loophole and it is possible that loophole has been closed recently. (My daughter could use it a few weeks ago on Escape but someone else reported from another ship it wasn't working)
  14. I don't think it's a mistake. I have had my eye on both Bliss TAs (east and west) for a while and they have really been that cheap for a solo traveller. The only reason I haven't booked is that I don't want to do the flight to/from Miami at that time. They have had a bit of yoyo pricing though. Up/down/up/down...
  15. At least it seems that there is some liberty to make changes in it. I have seen it twice, different ships and about 6 months beween them. Although similar, not identical. It seems that they try to take advantage of special strenghts of cast members. But still, that's a long time to run a show!
  16. There is a daily solo meet. Probably around 5-ish if I rember correctly, probably in the solo lounge. (They will let you in.) It's pretty common that people from the solo group go together for dinner, but I don't think MDR has any "earmarked" shared tables.
  17. I was on a 15-day ta and it was only offered once during that cruise. I don't know if that's the norm or not though.
  18. I have seen and like the both of those. They kind of have the same theme, both being the names of clubs, if I recall correctly. (Paradis being french for Paradise)
  19. I'm pretty sure I could have booked the cruise I mentioned before (departing from Oslo - close for me) the night before departure. I started a booking and all looked normal but didn't go through with it.
  20. I was going to suggest Waterfront as well. Really nice walking!
  21. Congratulations! Looks like a very useful backpack!
  22. Exactly! Of course it's all about cutting costs! If indeed the game shows attract "the contemporary cruiser" they can be had without removing the "real" shows (Broadway or not).
  23. Entertainment isn't hugely important to me. I hate game shows and would not go to any of them. Ever! Talent shows not my thing either even though some acts may be great I'm sure. Not crazy about cover bands, but can be great. I would not stand in line long for one though! Magicians etc can go either way. IF I go I get a seat where it's easy to leave. But some of them I have enjoyed a lot! I DO however like to watch dancing done by people that know their stuff. Ballroom, showdance, even hiphop 😮 I LOVE it all! And when the Broadway type show are dropped, lots of dancing is lost. That's a pity! 😞 I like the production cast theather shows in general, if for nothing else, to admire the talent of the performers. I'd hate to lose them! (Not crazy about the "Broadway tune" performances in for example Bliss lounge even if it's by those same talented performers I love watching in the theather.)
  24. I've spent lots of time in the library on Gem and Star and there has always been people reading there. Always!
  25. Apart from Star's library not having good tables for this, it IS a library. Meant for reading. Not for chatting or playing cards or whatever.
