  1. I think OP booked under Early Savers, which has always had very strict rules. Under the old ES rules, fairly certain it was $100 to change a passenger, but the cancelled cruiser got the remaining deposit back as a Future Cruise Credit. Not sure what the ES rules are now since I usually book with a casino code.
  2. Since you are in a Havana cabin and have been to the ports before, I would lean toward the drink package (if you can get close to $800 in value from your drinks). It is so nice to just walk up to the outside bar and get drinks during the day. Either way, enjoy.
  3. This has been my experience as well. If it has changed, I will find out on Friday and report back!
  4. To everyone on the Celebration, I hope you have a great cruise.
  5. I think it is more that Carnival doesn’t want to encourage people bringing babies on board. It is a risk for the child, if an emergency were to occur. And the parents will be pretty occupied just taking care of the baby. As these are a necessity for your lIttle one, I would recommend sticking with the cruise lines that cater to that age group for now. All the best to you and your growing family.
  6. What a tragedy. Hope the injured person pulls through and realizes he is a hero. The family of the deceased may eventually get some closure.
  7. Have you done your Elite cruise? Wondering how they handled it on the Venezia. Thanks
  8. Once past final payment, we do not cancel anyone unless travel insurance is in play. Nor do we mention it at Guest Services. Carnival already knows who is and is not on the ship. Always gotten a refund of their port charges and fees.
  9. Thank you. We are anxiously awaiting our cruise to Iceland in late July.
  10. While the rules have been well explained here, it would not hurt to ask the Maitre D if you could join them on those two nights. Sometimes fixed dining is not even close to full, and they may be able to accommodate you.
  11. Glad you had a good cruise, and thank you for the trip report. What did you use in the way of weather wear? Jacket, gloves, cap, thermals, rain gear? Thanks.
  12. The Panama Canal locks are a sight to behold and it takes hours. Son could likely go fishing in Columbia or Cabo.
  13. I just checked mine. Six cruises and none of them has an upgrade offer.
  14. Since you want to limit the time away and flying time, a good compromise might be a full Panama Crossing. The ports were mostly new to us, and the kids can get any school assignments done on the sea days. And crossing the Panama Canal was so intriguing, I spent hours out on deck just marveling at it.
  15. With the shorter cruises, they have fewer options. But historically, I would think your cruise will either go off as planned or turn into a cruise to nowhere. We once cruised through a hurricane and while we were safe, it was not pleasant. The other time our Eastern became a Western and we enjoyed great weather for most of the cruise. The cruise lines have this down, and now, I just don't worry about it. I go with the flow and hope for good weather.
  16. We are on the Pride in late July for a 12 night cruise. I will report back on the smokiness of the casino. I got spoiled on the Mardi Gras and Celebration, and the wonderful nonsmoking sections of the casinos.
  17. We had done Mardi Gras for three cruises, then went on the Liberty. I was a little concerned but it kind of felt like coming home. Everything was so easy and familiar. I think you will enjoy it.
  18. When my mom cruised with us, or my oldest grand when she had active POTS, I noted special needs on the booking and filled out the paperwork right away. My daughter’s mother-in-law does the same. It helps to work with a good PVP at Carnival when you have specific needs, as they can help you through the system. It seems to me the right answer here is for OP to bring her son’s dietary items and request a mini-refrigerator be placed in the cabin. Seems pretty straightforward. If it is autism, Carnival has a special program that OP should check out.
  19. It is the responsible adult in the same cabin that needs to check in with the minor child. And the same goes for exiting the ship at any port. Can you move people around on your booking so the father of the minor child is in the same cabin as him? I don’t think there would be a charge for this since these are casino bookings, as long as you and your spouse are in separate cabins.
  20. The pool at Loft 19 is not well suited for kids. It is more of a warm tub, and not big enough for swimming or playing. And only Excel suites or those who purchase a cabana have access to Loft 19. Since your child is young, a LOFT 19 cabana would be nice to get out of the sun. I would price out the lower level suites with the cabana, which are usually about $2,000 per week.
  21. What type of rate are you holding? If it is Early Saver or non-refundable, there are different rules. And Carnival no longer gives the PVP a credit if you have the cruise on hold. I would have aunt can book handicap cabin for three, with all three of their names. You leave yours as is until a choice needs to be made. You can usually drop a third or fourth person before final payment but that may impact your fare. If it would, I would add hubby’s name at final then see what happens. Worse case after that is a name change fee or losing his cruise fare (just make sure he is listed as third or fourth cruiser). This way, your mom and aunts are not impacted by any changes you want to make to your cabin.
  22. i just checked the website. While the Welcome Back Party is limited to 5 days or more, the Captain’s Event is not. Hope they have one on the Liberty at the end of the month, as my husband and I will finally be Diamond then. If not, I am sure the Pride will have it on our 12 night cruise in July.
  23. I believe it is just loaded on your card. Tell the server you want to use your free drink.
  24. This is a great resolution. I hope all of you have a great cruise!
