I’m inclined to agree with you. Waiting, not so patiently, to hear what will happen to us.
Yep, we have friends with flights and hotel booked meeting us so hope to hear sooner rather than later

I embark in Sydney and then on till Dubai. I just want to know which changes there will be if any. So that I can make arrangements. If there is a disembark port change would like to know where and when. In-between changes don't make as much difference unless I would need a visa.
Just waiting to see.
We are on Singapore to Southampton segment and waiting to hear, wish they would let us know the options soon

Would be interested to learn what is being said on the situation to those currently on the World Cruise?
An earlier post from over a week ago said that the captain had said in the daily programme that the situation was being monitored

I’m not booking anything until I know if the Singapore segment is going to be something we will be accepting instead of the original itinerary

Further to my post re my Nephew who is V-P at a Lloyd's of London firm in Marine and Rigs Underwriting Insurance - >>
He's talked to his colleagues yesterday in Hull's Underwriting, and it's of course a fluid situation that may be resolved in time for the ship to stay on the intended route.
However for now though,it must be said, that Cunard at present would not get Insurance to sail into the areas and transit home via Suez as the risks currently stand.
Cunard's Broker would have to request Coverage from the Underwriters who would most likely decline Cover, or charge an eye watering additional Premium, but with untenable Exclusions.
The Joint Hull Committee at Lloyds would still class this region as a 'Breach Area' and therefore voiding the ships Insurance if they sail in that area, and they could still assess the area as too High Risk for the foreseeable, even if current Hostilities decline soon. plus they have to be mindful of any increase, or sudden uptake in more Hostilities.
Cunard know what they are doing, and they, and their Insurance Brokers will be on it as we speak.
More news will come ASAP for any affected Cruise segments and Passengers once Cunard make their decisions on the ship's route.
Thanks for this, kind of as one would imagine but interesting to see👍

For what it’s worth, the below is what we were told in today’s daily program;
From the Captain
You will have seen the news over recent days regarding the developing geopolitical situation in the Red Sea off Yemen. As some of you will be onboard in Aprit when were scheduled to transit that area, I would like to reassure anyone with concerns at present that the company together with various national authorities and government departments are continuously monitoring the situation as are many global shipping companies. We will make any necessary decision in good time with the safety and security of the ship and all onboard being the paramount consideration.
Thanks for passing this on, I was wondering what was being said to passengers on board at the moment?

We are boarding in Singapore and would be happy if rerouted via Cape Town. We’ve done the Suez Canal twice already, so wouldn’t be especially bothered about missing it.
We are also boarding in Singapore but the reroute will affect many aspects of the voyage that may make it not worthwhile, no Jordan or Suez obviously, the Mediterranean ports wouldn’t happen, I’m not sure it’s going to be worth bothering with for us but we may get no choice?

I just hope Cunard are able to let us know what the plan is in the near future ….. must be a very challenging time having to make massive changes to itineraries at this late stage.

So you are off, have a great trip😀🚢
I’m looking forward to the Singapore to Southampton segment…. any news from the sharp end?
US and British forces have attacked the Houthis last night so I imagine this will impact decision making with the powers that be?

MSC have just re routed the Poesia world cruise away from the Red Sea and round the Cape. Turns the itinerary upside down. I can’t believe that insurers would allow a large cruise ship to transit these waters in the present circumstances so suspect this may be the first of many world cruise itinerary changes.
Very interesting, be interesting to see what happens next now the world cruise season begins

I wondered about this recently.
Very glad our QV is going around South Africa on the WC this year. They seem to be attacking commercial ships at this stage, the outcry if they attacked a cruise ship with its numerous nationalities onboard could bring them results they are not prepared for. But to suddenly change the QMS Itin this late and close to sailing would be problematic for Cunard - a lot of the providorring would already be on the high seas in containers ready to be accessed at Dubai and having to rebook ports this close to docking plus also rerouting passengers to board at Capetown rather than Dubai, passengers complaining that Carnival had "ruined their trip of a life time" by not going through the Suez etc would be a nightmare that they might not wish to address.
I can see Carnival and other lines rethinking schedules for the future but I doubt they would change this late for this year.
Yes anybody on QV is sitting pretty👍.. Cunard are not going to be taking any risks with their precious passengers though, I would imagine, they must be looking into alternatives in case things get worse?

Is anyone wondering if the Queen Mary will still be transiting the Red Sea on her world voyage as is scheduled in the itinerary, the area is looking increasingly hairy with the attacks on cargo ships?

That’s great thanks 👍

I can't say for sure where QM2 will dock at Dubai next year. But I can provide this link which indicates she docked at the Dubai Harbour Cruise Terminal for the first time last year, rather than at Port Rashid where she has docked in the past.
That’s helpful, thankyou

I'm sailing on Queen Mary world voyage next year (2024) and it's visiting Dubai in April.
Some friends are flying to Dubai to meet us and want to book a hotel near the port, does anyone know if there are several berthing options for ships like Queen Mary or somewhere she will be likely to be moored?
Cunard couldn't help me at this stage.
