  1. The Carnival Panorama returned to Long Beach on schedule yesterday but there was concern regarding a few crew members. No one was allowed to leave the ship until the crew members were checked. Apparently late last night the tests were returned and they were negative. The ship leaves later today on an abbreviated six day sailing. Mazatlan was canceled on this six day sailing. Also, today the Regal Princess is being held off from returning to Port Everglades because there concerned about two crew members that have symptoms of the disease. Until they are tested the ship is doing circles off of the coast of South Florida. As of 12:45PM EDT those test results haven’t been returned so that next sailing will either be shortened or canceled all together.
  2. Carnival Mardi Gras would also be a great choice but I would worry about the fact that their newest ship would be very expensive to travel on during it’s first years of service. The newest ship always brings in the highest prices.
  3. Intercontinental Hotel is very close to the Port Of Miami and is a Cruise Critic favorite. It’s a short ride to the Port Of Miami and in most cases there rates are reasonable. It’s also very close to Bayside Marketplace for shopping and dining in reference to pre or post cruise activities. From some of the higher floors you can see the docked ships from your hotel room.
  4. If you have the time a seven day cruise on either Royal Caribbean or Carnival to either the Eastern or Western Caribbean would be great. Disney is also a lot of fun for a child but in most cases is usually double or triple the price. Royal Caribbean’s Harmony Of The Seas would be a good choice that leaves from Port Canaveral. Carnival is great too but personally I would choose one of their newer, larger ships.
  5. Magen’s Bay In St Thomas is very nice. You need a cab or shuttle to get there from Havensight Pier. You can rent umbrellas and loungers there too. They also had food stands right on the beach last time I was there with my family.
  6. In most instances if you purchase liquor during the first cruise you normally have to pick it up before the conclusion of the first cruise. You either pick it on your own or your cabin steward is responsible to get it for you.
  7. They normally want you out of the cabin by 8:30AM and off the ship before 10:00AM to get the ship ready for it’s next sailing.
  8. Just so you know, the nice beaches are in Miami Beach, not in the City Of Miami. Also, time of year has a big difference in pricing. A beautiful, two hundred plus room during the off season in June, July, and August can easily be four hundred plus in December, January, and February during the prime winter season. Please plan accordingly.
  9. Do an Oasis Class Western Caribbean seven day cruise from either Port Canaveral, Port Everglades, or the Port Of Miami to Grand Cayman, Falmouth, Jamaica, and Cozumel, Mexico. The Oasis Of The Seas, Allure Of The Seas, and Symphony Of The Seas are the Harmony Of The Seas three sister ships.
  10. Sixt Rental Car’s location is the Miami International Airport Rental Car Center for the Port Of Miami. Unfortunately they do not provide free shuttle service from the Rental Car Center to the Port Of Miami.
  11. If you rent a vehicle from FLL the closest rental car locations for the Port Of Miami for vehicle drop off are in downtown Miami. Hertz, Avis, and Budget have downtown Miami locations that are very close to the Port Of Miami. They provide shuttle service from their downtown locations. If you rent from Alamo, National, Enterprise, Dollar, or Thrifty you would drop off the rental vehicle at the Miami International Airport Rental Car Center which is located directly across from the Miami International Airport. The five above mentioned companies provide free shuttle service to the Port Of Miami. The short shuttle ride takes approximately fifteen minutes. If you rent a vehicle at the conclusion of your cruise they also provide free shuttle service back to the Miami International Airport Rental Car Center.
  12. The Alamo Eller Drive location is right outside of Port Everglades. It’s literally a five minute shuttle ride to the cruise terminals from that location.
  13. All Cape Canaveral Rental Car companies provide free shuttle service from their facilities to Port Canaveral. With a large group of nine it’s a lot easier to drop off everyone along with the luggage at Port Canaveral first and then have the driver return the rental vehicle. If the shuttles have a long line either cab it or Uber back to Port Canaveral.
  14. Fort Lauderdale will need millions to upgrade its aging sewer system. One specific pipeline has leaked raw sewage on and off for weeks. Fort Lauderdale employees repair the pipe at one location and then the same pipe ruptures in a different location. The city is requesting monetary aid from Broward County, the State Of Florida, and even the Federal Government. They were just fined over 1,800,000 in reference to this incident.
  15. Country Inn and Suites is a nice hotel minutes from Port Canaveral. There is no such thing as free parking in any of the hotels near Port Canaveral. The parking option is included in the price you pay for staying a the hotel for the night before your cruise. If you arrive at the hotel on departure day I think you can leave your car in their lot. I’m not sure of the price now but when I left my vehicle there it was reasonable.
  16. 3900 NW 25th Street in Miami, Florida is the actual address of the Miami International Airport Rental Car Center.
  17. It’s so much easier to pick up or drop off a rental vehicle at the Miami International Airport Rental Car Center. The facility is open twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. There is always plenty of inventory available and in most cases the rates are very reasonable. A few years ago prior a cruise out of the Port Of Miami an employee from Alamo advised me that within that twenty four hour period they were close to seven hundred rental vehicles picked up and dropped off. He advised me that it was a typical day during the busy winter season.
  18. Avis, Hertz, and Budget provide free shuttle service to their downtown Miami locations. They do not provide free shuttle transportation to the Miami International Airport Rental Car Center which is located directly across from the Miami International Airport.
  19. Alamo, National, Enterprise, Dollar, and Thrifty provide free shuttle service from the Port Of Miami to the Miami International Airport Rental Car Center which is located directly across from the Miami International Airport. When you exit the terminal flag down the shuttle. Most drivers will ask to see your rental car reservation before they allow you to board the shuttle. The short ride from the Port Of Miami to the Rental Car Center takes approximately fifteen minutes.
  20. To my knowledge there is no provision allowing you to reserve a space at any parking garage with the Port Everglades property. The Midport Garage is a large facility with plenty of parking spots available. If you arrive after 10:00AM you will be one of the first to park in the garage. By that time everyone from the previous sailings will have all ready left. To make things easier, get there around 10:00AM, drop luggage and family members in front of the terminal and then by yourself drive over to garage and secure your vehicle. Walk across the street to the terminal, meet up with family members and enter the terminal to check in for your cruise. I have never encountered a situation we’re the Midport Garage was completely full.
  21. When you arrive at the Port Of Miami the overhead electronic signs will tell you which terminal your ship is berthed at. When you pull up to the terminal, stop at the porter area to turn over your luggage and advise someone there that you require wheelchair assistance. Once they accommodate your wife have her wait for you in the terminal while you drive over to the parking garage and secure your vehicle. Once that’s completed walk back to the terminal and meet up with your wife and check in for your voyage.
  22. The Rustic Inn In Fort Lauderdale serves Alaskan King Crab but to my knowledge doesn’t have the all you can eat feature. They have all kinds of seafood in a casual setting. My best friend and I usually have dinner there every time we visit my condo in Hallandale Beach.
  23. First thing that makes sense is to drive down the day before your departure. Stay overnight in a hotel in Fort Lauderdale and have a nice dinner. Drop off the rental vehicle at an off site rental car location and take their free shuttle over to Port Everglades on departure day. Just remember that for the last few years there are no rental car companies that provide free shuttle service from Hollywood/ Fort Lauderdale International Airport to Port Everglades. If you get a better rental rate returning the vehicle at FLL a cab is less than twenty dollars plus tip for the short ten minute ride. At the conclusion of your cruise rent a vehicle from an off site location that provides free shuttle service from Port Everglades to their location.
  24. Avis, Hertz, and Budget Do Not provide free shuttle service from the Port Of Miami to the Miami International Airport Rental Car Center. If you observe a shuttle operating at the Port Of Miami from either of the three above mentioned companies they are providing service to their downtown Miami locations.
  25. I have only cruised from Tampa once but if I remember correctly there were plenty of seats in the terminal area for passengers to wait before boarding begins.
