  1. Would you not be able to get a price adjustment since the price came down before final payment?
  2. I agree with PDSquare, it really works for solo traveler. I had a friend that was able to board the Westerdam 53 day to Japan at $99/day on Sept 1. If she purchased a solo inside room it would have cost an est of $12,000. She paid about $5500. If you have a free schedule, easily able to get to the departure port and willing to take a gamble it works. She was notified 6 days before the cruise with a cabin number.
  3. This new policy is a little disturbing, like many of us, we chose to pay more for a certain room. I chose my room based on mobility issues, so location is very important. We select a room close to an elevator. This surely will be an inconvenience for others who have done the same. If the majority of the rooms are 3 with some at 4, they should put these family of 3 or 4 under a guaranteed status. They are booking late and in some cases maybe getting a better rate (3rd/4th passenger free). HAL is contradicting their website "you chose room", "we chose" to we will move previous passengers so you can get the better one. Somehow this just doesn't seem right.
  4. Since you have a party of 6, a private excursion would be the best option. In many cases they use a van and as long as your wheelchair is foldable you would have no issues. This way your party will also stay together see the same sites and sometimes more than what the ship offers.
  5. If you have the strength to push, a wheelchair would work great for your husband. We have been cruising since 2000 but in 2022 I started using a wheelchair. With the wheelchair we have cruised to Australia/Sydney and Asia, all 60 days or more cruises. It also depends on what cruise line you travel; some are more accommodating than others. HAL has been our choice for individuals with mobility issues. We don't take excursion from the ship. We take private tours for just the 2 of us, usually on Tours by Locals or Viator. We have found that we see more and don't have to worry about climbing in/out of buses and competing with other individuals on a rush to see sites.
  6. We were in a Neptune suite on the Westerdam, Oct 2023 and I use a wheelchair. As long as you don't have a wide (more than 22") wheelchair you will be fine. There is one door on the port and starboard side that has handicap access to the walking deck, unfortunately it was out of service quite often. As for going to the PG, very easy, they still seat you where available or at your convenience. MDR will also seat you as convenient, since many times the table are pretty close. Overall no issues with wheelchair. It provides me with the ability to still travel. HAL is very accommodating to people who mobility issues. As for service in PG, we did have the understaffing issue and people just standing and not paying attention, we sent a note thru "let us know", and the next day service was improved, there were additional staff. Unfortunately, we can expect understaffing everywhere on the ship.
