Belated Review: Legend Iceland & British Isles July 2024
pe4all replied to trvlgirlmq's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Iceland cruise is on my bucket list! Can't wait to read more. -
We always used to put our phones in the safe as soon as we boarded. I would call home from cabin phone when at sea to check in with dh (had to stay home and work). 1 minute call for $1.99. When I got to a port my phone came out of safe and my ATT plan kicked in with international day pass. Got all my emails, calls, texts then.

My LONG Mardi Gras Story - Take Two! (with FunTimes)

We have always wanted to do the "real" amazing race. DH always says "how could they turn down a CPA and retired Phys. Ed. teacher." I told him "no way. 1. you get lost in our neighborhood - and we have lived here 40+ years 2. You need to stop at a bathroom every 30 minutes. Maybe we will try the one you did next time we are in Cozumel- senior 65+ division! -
While we don't drive to our homeport (NY) as a teacher I have "bumped into" several of my students over the years while on vacation. So far I have inadvertently seen them in Disneyworld, Atlantis Bahamas, Las Vegas and on 2 cruises out of Miami. Nothing chills me to the core than hearing "hi Mrs. _____" lol!

Really enjoying your review! Looking forward to the rest. -
They stopped sailing from San Juan years ago. They still do have San Juan as a port stop on some cruises.

So which 3 ships is Carnival testing simplified menu in steak house?
pe4all replied to quo's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Glad I saw this thread. We usually eat at the steakhouse 1x during cruise. Special needs dd doesn't eat steak/meat, and sometimes eats grilled shrimp. We usually just load up on sides for her - mashed potatoes, mushrooms, Mac and cheese, etc. There is nothing on the menu she really eats now. We can get the things she eats at the buffet. Just saved us some money. -
Does this disturbing new trend bother anyone else?
pe4all replied to Jeafl's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
We liked the production shows on Carnival. Yes, CCL seems to have gone the route of "game shows" - even bingo as a show. Maybe it is hard to find entertainers, who pull double-duty at bingo, etc. Disappointing, but we find other things to do at night rather than attend the game shows. -
Review: September 6th to 16th Carnival Miracle to Alaska
pe4all replied to Stowaway LFC's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Loving your review! Fantastic writing style. Sitting here giggling at some of the things you are writing. (teleporting dh out w/the dogs). We loved our Alaska cruise -looking forward to the rest of your review. -
Just to jump in with a funny story - on our first (NCL) cruise out of NY we parked our car at the pier. Upon pulling back into NY port I was on our balcony looking for our car - it wasn't there! I went hysterical, telling dh "someone stole our car." DH then pointed out that we were pulling into a different pier than we had embarked from. Still hasn't let me forget it to this day - lol.

So glad to hear that. Enjoy your cruise!

I am sorry the OP did not like his dining experience. We have always asked - and gotten- paper menus in any and every CCL dining room. And they were waiting for us on the table from then on. I never use my phone for menus, fun times, etc. Can't read it at my age. There are many other cruise lines out there that will have leather or vinyl bound menus if that makes or breaks a cruise.

I’m On The Fabulous Firenze! A Review With Pics.
pe4all replied to LaRue1975's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Ship pics look great so far! Very Italian. Can't wait to read more. -
Very true. We did have trouble, and the reason we did not book a "summer-ish" cruise was because they all seemed to be some kind of Casino offer- and tons of kids also - lol!

We have definitely avoided booking on any kind of premiers/ultra/elite offers. Unfortunately we are booked on one in January as it was the only cruise that fit into our "time slot." Ugh.
