Having opted for a refund of my deposit on Silver Dawn’s December 4th sailing cancelled by Silversea in early June, I’ve now waited 5 weeks for the reimbursement of ~CAD 1,700 penalty fees on cancelled airfares. I’ve followed up by emails plus call, heard nothing on the former and got false promises on the latter. The rep that I spoke with couldn’t even confirm that my reimbursement request was in process. Clearly, the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing!

With significant itinerary disruptions caused by widespread geopolitical tensions, Silversea management is clearly following RCL Corporate’s edicts to preserve revenues and mitigate expenses. Unfortunately, customer care seems to have been sacrificed in the process. Every marketing student knows that losing a customer you already have is a very high cost.

Silversea has now posted the revised 14-day Whisper itinerary with pricing. It compares unfavorably to the cancelled 18-day Dawn sailing that we had booked. After subtracting the 15% discount, our cruise fare would still be 22% higher for a comparable suite notwithstanding 4 fewer days, reduced ports/time in port, less amenities/dining venues on an older, smaller ship. We won’t likely pursue this option.

Thank you for sharing. The shortened itinerary gives those of us cancelled from Dawn’s Mumbai-Singapore sailing a head start on deciding whether or not to pursue this option. The 20% reduction offer is modest given you lose 22% of sailing days, ports and time in port.

So you remain booked on Whisper’s shortened sailing (Dec 8-22) and have option to cancel/change after revised itinerary/pricing is published next week?
