  1. Aren't 6240 and 42 on the angle facing back? Wouldn't they be looking right at the top of the aft lifeboats? I might be picky, but thats not a view I want from my balcony for 14 days in Japan.
  2. Here is our situation....we are currently booked on the Best of Japan 14 day sailing for march 28, 2021 in a 2C on Millennium, in a Sweet 16 cabin. It is somewhat possible that this sailing will take place, but we are 99% apprehensive, and have resigned ourselves to not sailing then, as we were going to tack on a Singapore and Cambodia side trip as well. I looked into the Lift and Shift and in March of 2022, Celebrity is doing the Best of Japan for 14 days on the Solstice. For those familiar with the cabin class differences between Millennium class and Solstice class, 2C's on Millennium are very acceptable cabins...the 2C's (and 2D's) are either partially obstructed or obstructed. I am absolutely not going to look out at the top of a lifeboat or the davit lift apparatus for 14 days from my balcony! I had heard on other threads of people being able to pay the difference in cabin category to move, which to move up to an unobstructed 2B or 2A, the difference is approximately $100 to 140 per person. My current rate, which was booked in Oct of 2018, including 4 perks, is about $1000 less than prevailing rates right now. Here was Celebrity's chat response this morning to my inquiry about "moving up". Ashley You are not able to request a stateroom. Once you select lift and shift, We will try and give you the same room in the same category. If it is not available, we will go ahead and assign any room in the same stateroom category After it has been assigned, you can call in to change your room number. If you change the category, it will be prevailing rates and promotions. In this case, I would suggest waiting for the Lift and Shift to be assigned and then reaching out to your TA to see if you can have the same promotion and just pay to have an unobstructed view. I do apologize, Art Art So, if I fill out the form, and I don't like what you assign, or any of the same cabin options, can I decline the lift and shift offer? Do I have to confirm acceptance or anything before you cancel me off of my current booking? Ashley If this is a Global Suspension sailing, you can opt to do the full refund if you decline the offer Once you fill out the Lift and Shift form, the lift and shift will take place

  4. Twice now, I have used Celebrity's chat agents in the last 2 days to question some aspects of the L & S and this is a synopsis of todays chat.... Ashley You are not able to request a stateroom. 5. Did you do this in the online request form? I just had one of their chat "specialists" tell me that if I wanted to "upgrade", I would lose my perks and have to pay the prevailing rate. I hardy consider going from a great Sweet 16 type 2C cabin to a partially obstructed 2C cabin as an equal swap, requiring an upgrade for a comparable view. The agent told me it was only obstructed if you were on the balcony! I couldn't believe he said it....
  6. As I thought further about this, I believe I would lose my perks, and more likely than not, I would end up having to pay the prevailing fare, which is significantly more than my booked fare.
  7. You couldn't pay me enough to take the A1's on the Millennium class....but, then I'm someone who isn't thrilled about sitting in 100% exposure sun.
  8. Good question. Hopefully, I can get through to my TA tomorrow, and he can then get through to a Celebrity for some answers.
  9. I will probably be lifting and shifting a 14 day cruise in Japan in a 2C on a Millennium class to a 14 day cruise in Japan on a Solstice class and am hoping they will let me buy up to a 1A. The 2C on the Solstice class are obstructed view, and my Millennium 2C is not. I can't believe they wouldn't let me pay to move up. The difference would only be about $180 per person. For 14 days in a superior room, that 4% difference would be worth it to me. Particularly, as when I looked at cabin availability today, there are lots of slants available.
  10. Thanks for the link to the obstructed 360 views Kearney. We usually sail in Aqua...love Blu, but the past couple have been on either Edge or Millennium class, where it is pretty easy to know what the differences are. Our balcony is usually or refuge, as we aren't really poolside people, so sitting on our veranda, with a clear view, either in port, or on the ocean, is vital.
  11. We haven't sailed a Solstice class ship in a while, and I don't recall there being so many different classes. I understand the differences between Standard veranda's, and the Concierge and Aqua veranda's (not the Veranda differences themselves, but the class). Is there any difference between the "2" class standard veranda cabins and the "1" class standard veranda cabins? In other words, what is the difference between, say, a 2B and 1B....strictly location? I'm just using the 2B and 1B as an example....I guess I'm curious about any distinction between any of the 1's and 2's....
  12. Wasn’t us....haven’t done any TP or TA yet. By any chance did you do the Holy Lands with Celebrity a couple of years ago?
  13. I booked with an online also, and emailed them on Monday asking about the lift and shift, but haven't got an email back yet. I may go directly to the agent I usually book with at the agency and get him to Customer Service working for me. By any chance is your agency in NH? Your ID looks familiar. Are you saying we were on a same roll call? Not the Dubai to Singapore "Turn-around this past February, was it?
  14. Was there any difficulty getting them to let you pay up? I'd be willing to pay up to 2A, 1A, even Aqua if they would allow it.
  15. Well, that’s a heck of a lot worse than my Sweet 16 view for the same category....
  16. I thought the 2C’s were obstructed. Really seems like they should offer an unobstructed 1C. So, you just had to pay the difference between a 2C and 2B? The sailing we’re going to lift and shift to is about $1700 more than what we booked at for the same category, and I would definitely pay the difference between the 2 cabins on the 2022 sailing, but not between my current price and the 2022 price.
  17. We are going to be doing a lift and shift which is going to have us move from a Millennium class ship in a 2C to a Solstice class ship. The Solstice class appear to have quite a few more categories of Veranda cabins than Millennium, so I’m wondering which category is Celebrity going to consider comparable on Solstice to our 2C on Millennium?
  18. So, here’s a situation. We are scheduled to sail on the Millennium next March in 2C. The Japan sailing the following year is on the Solstice. Is the same catagory going to be 2C or are they going to try to tell us 2D on Solstice class is comparable to 2C on Millennium class. We would be going from a Sweet 16 cabin to, I’m not sure what? Any favorite 2D or C on Solstice? Are they going to be obstructed being right above the lifeboats?
  19. We booked a 14 day Japan sailing on 2018 that is scheduled for March of 2021, during Cherry Blossom time. This isn’t one we want to miss, but it isn’t necessarily one we are confident in doing next year. Is it eligible for the lift and shift? Our booked price is significantly lower than the current price for our booked cruise and the 2022 one, plus we have all 4 perks, so we hate to lose it.
  20. Couldn't disagree more, and we sailed the Edge in August and the Connie in Feb (well, part way to Singapore...). Connie appeared VERY tired to us, but the Edge was exciting! Different strokes I guess....
  21. I guess I wasn't thinking along the terms of the cancellation (of $100 per person that is often "penalized" in the form of an FCC) fee, as I didn't even think they were the only ones charging it. Are you sure about that?
  22. Yes, we have. We were actually in the middle of the Indian Ocean on our way to Singapore from a Dubai, when all ports started closing left and right and we had to turn around and head back to Dubai. In the meantime, we just in the past 3 weeks cancelled an Oct ‘20 Viking a River Cruise, and received our refund in 2 weeks. We have dealt with the same Consultant at that NH agency, and, IMHO, it has made a difference in any situation we have needed to call on him. Extra fees??? Have never seen them. Extra perks or OBC??? Every cruise..
  23. That has been the total opposite of our experience through about 15 bookings with them. You know, even Mercedes puts out a lemon every once in a while. An agency that big, is also going to occasionally have agents that don’t measure up to the vast majority of the rest of their staff.
