  1. Great thread. Will be on the Eclipse in October (Pacific Coast). Thank you to the OP!
  2. Thank you. You confirmed my thoughts, and didn't help with my dilemma over which area to choose though! 😉 I know the touristy sights like the Hollywood sign, the Walk of Fame, etc. are likely overrated and cheesy, but a part of me feels like we need to see them. Thanks again!
  3. Hi all. I was wondering if I could get some advice please. This October will be our first time visiting LA, and we will be flying in a couple of days early (Friday, for a cruise that departs on Sunday) to do a little sightseeing. I am getting some mixed suggestions from people who know the area though...maybe someone on here can help please? I think we should do the touristy things around LA...some are telling us to stay in West Hollywood (which is far from the cruise port it seems), others are telling us we should stay around Santa Monica (also far from the cruise port). I know there are places closer, but since we will be in the area on Friday and Saturday before we board...I guess it makes sense to stay in one of the other areas I mentioned. Any thoughts from those who know better? Thanks in advance!
  4. Hahaha. Thanks. Fortunately I am good with the one I have, and can't afford another!
  5. which is the plan that comes with Retreat bookings?
  6. Do you have any pictures of those women so we can see for ourselves just how inappropriate they were? 😉
  7. IMO the "surroundings" and ambiance are more about the decor of the restaurant and the server, not the wardrobe choices of fellow diners. Some may not like it, but the world has gotten more casual. For good or for bad....some like it, some don't. But regardless, there is no putting the toothpaste back in that tube. I get your dislike of it, and I understand it. I am old enough to remember when people got dressed up to fly on an airplane. Times have changed, and cruising on most cruise lines has changed along with it.
  8. I read this thread (and others like it) and continue to be amazed at how so many seem to feel what others wear impacts their own dinner experience. We I dine out, I care about the person/people sitting across from me at my table, and the quality of the food and service. I can't think of a time I can specifically say "I like that restaurant; the food and service were impeccable, but if only that guy 4 tables away dressed nice it would have been a great night." I also find it hard to believe that people who pay the money to go on a Celebrity cruise depend upon the dress of others in the room to make them feel like they are getting their money's worth. I am not sure what I am missing here.
  9. I'm honestly a little surprised that someone who lives in the Florida Keys would make that post! No snark intended, but as a lifelong South Floridian, I am so used to vacationers dining at nearly all levels of restaurants in very casual attire. We tend to care about how we dress when go to dinner...but it's impossible to go to a nice restaurant without seeing some in shorts, team jerseys, ballcaps, even flip flops. My impression is that the Keys are even more that way. We have done Caribbean cruises with friends from up north, and they tend to have that "I'm on vacation, so I will wear what I want" mentality. I've just gotten used to it.
  10. Does anyone know about the Celebrity Suites? We will be in 1620 in the fall....thanks.
  11. I was just able to book dining for a cruise next October. When you go to Manage Reservation, make sure you scroll down (past the flights section) and click on "Dining Packages".
  12. Thanks. Is there any reason to get one if you have access to the Retreat deck, or would that be somewhat redundant?
  13. Do they have cabanas for daily or weekly rental on the Equinox? If so, how does one find info about them? Thanks!
  14. Please continue to hold for the next available customer service rep. Your call is very important to me.
  15. If you're using Chrome as your browser, you may need click on the "update" button on the top right hand corner of your browser (if one appears). I was having trouble with that page loading and did that and it's fine now.
  16. Great question. We begged. We showed all paperwork we had from our ticket from the prior day, to the lost luggage paper. They let us in.
  17. I don't think I paid that much...last time I used it was a few months ago to Canada and it was like $200each. It's one thing for domestic travel, but for international, and before a cruise, is that it's hard to imagine they can get your luggage to whatever port you happen to be at on a given day, there isn't much variety for shopping on the ship, and it's a pain to find stores in foreign countries. And it's also nice to not have to drag big suitcases around. I get that it's not for everyone.
  18. So the flights (from MIA to LGA, and LGA to Barcelona, were both originally with Delta. No TA as far as I can recall. Delta DID rebook us on the connection on KLR to Barcelona. I believe it was one of those that says KLR "operated by Delta". So when we landed without our luggage, the KLR rep told us to reach out to Delta, and Delta told us KLR.
  19. Obviously we try to avoid connections whenever possible, but that isn't always an option. We use Luggage Forward with really flawless results. It's not cheap, and they may even be a little more expensive than some others, but their communication and customer service has been great, you can track your bags, and they will pickup and deliver from pretty much anywhere or from/to any kind of location. Hotels will store them, and cruise lines are set up to receive your luggage as well. The peace of mind is worth it for me after that experience.
  20. The travel stress is very real. So a few years back, we were booked on an RCL cruise out of Barcelona. We flew in the day before. Well, the first leg of flight (Delta) was OK, but when we arrived in NY for the connection, we learned our connection to Barcelona was canceled. We scrambled to get a connection, and got one on KLR airlines (first time I had heard of them). At this point, we had the sinking understanding that our luggage might not make it to Barcelona with us, which it did not. The person at the KLR luggage counter spoke very poor English, and we got little info. We were trying with Delta as well, and got nothing. So here we were in Barcelona, the night before we were getting on a ship that had different ports every day, with nothing except the clothes on our backs. We scrambled and bought toothbrushes, underwear, a few tshirts, my DW bought some makeup...that kind of stuff. I laid in bed in our hotel room unable to sleep, kept checking the Delta app (this was about 5 years ago) and saw nothing. We had to board the ship the following day. On a random hunch, we decided to go to the airport and wait for the next Delta flight out of LaGuardia to land. We stood in baggage claim waiting while all of the luggage came off that plane. Lo and behold the actual last two suitcases to come off the plane were our two bags! I have a picture of my wife hugging her suitcase lol. We went from there directly to the port and boarded the ship. Moral of the story...we now ship our luggage whenever we have a connecting flight, we have air tags as well, and we bring a carryon with essentials.
